  2. Worthy is back up and running after a catastrophic collapse of a database server. Sometime in the middle of the night on January 16, 2023, an automatic update of a database server caused the server to fail. So, database updates are mostly about keeping things secure, right? But this time, it kind of backfired and made our database server crash. It took us two whole days to figure out what went wrong. In the end, we had to reinstall the server and rebuild each database from scratch. On this particular server sits a host of Worthy sites, such as the forums, our Worthy News Syndication Service, the Worthy Prayer Team, Worthy Bible, Worthy Brief, and some smaller sites. So you can imagine the impact of the Kingdom when that server went offline … So, the databases for our other sites were pretty small, and we got those sites online Friday night. But the forums database? It's huge! We're talking about 7.3 gigs, which is like 7 billion, 300 million bits of info. That's a lot of information to rebuild! That’s literally 23 years of information that thousands of people where people have posted, shared, fellowshipped … it’s really amazing when you think of the impact we’ve had over the years! But with that, the database is so massive, and with so many people trying to get onto Worthy these past few days, every hit was causing the database to be accessed. It actually made the reconstruction of the database grind to a halt and even fail a few times in trying to rebuild it. Yesterday, my programmer, who's already got a full-time job, came up with a plan on Friday. He suggested we build the database again but do it outside of the main Worthy Database everyone's trying to use. Basically, set up a parallel one and then rename it. This way, we could finish rebuilding the database without interruption. Basically, that process of rebuilding so many bytes of information took over 45 hours, and that, in a nutshell, is what happened. I've got a crazy amount of emails from folks and couldn't reply to them all, so please forgive me. I'm juggling rebuilding Worthy while preaching on the road, traveling, homeschooling, and keeping Worthy News updated... it's pretty wild sometimes! Anyway, we are back and running … the database restore was from January 14th, so any posts that you may have written after that date are lost forever. Pray for Worthy up in prayer... and for those who are aware of the current situation in Israel, you'll understand the spiritual battle we're engaged in! As a pastor, I urge you to remember that almost every ministry deeply involved with Israel is facing severe spiritual warfare. If I could explain without revealing too much private information, but leaders having organ transplants, leaders of central ministries stepping down due to failing due to the vices of sin, to malicious attacks by significant publications, and now one of our servers having a catastrophic loss of a database server that impacts the lives across the world by the thousands per day! We’ve already sent to ministries in our homeland of Israel over $20,000 over the past two months. However, I believe that this war is just getting started. In a nutshell, commanders of the IDF were told not to plan for any summer vacations … and this is the time to think about a vacation after such a strenuous war ... however, you have to start realizing this physical war is really the manifestation of a historic spiritual war! Here's a takeaway from this experience... Like I said to my wife last year, we need to plan strategically for when we might be offline. Not because of anything we've done but due to potential internet censorship that could be on the horizon. What would you do in ministry … if you didn’t go online? How would you impact people? For us, I’m setting up outdoor events in the park and simply having old-school revival meetings! The King is coming … is your life ready .. if you’re like me, we’re so far away from where we need to be, but we’re striving for the high calling in Christ Jesus … in Yeshua HaMashiach … and we’re anticipating at the end of the age … well, done thou good and faithful servant! Be blessed .. continue to pray for us … Worthy is BACK! https://p3n9m3v6.stackpathcdn.com/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png Your brother in the Lord, with much agape love, George

  3. Glad we're are back up and running. Thanks for the information on what cause the issue and for all that was done behind the scenes to get the server back up and running.. I feel I was taken to some other places I would not normally go and that wasn't bad, just that it didn't feel quite the same.

  9. In all seriousness, we ought to create a network of contacts who we can get hold of to keep in touch. It doesn't have to be like a phone book directory but just immediate contacts (usually everyone will be included by extension that way). Just a thought. For a time of persecution is coming when the truth will not be tolerated. As near as it seems to be now, it is nothing like what it will be... or even has been historically.

  19. Agreed. This idea has been on my mind recently, even before this crash of WCF. So I just posted this special notice on my blog: Post-WCF Crash Message As the just-ended WCF crash should remind us, information on this site and elsewhere on the internet cannot be relied upon to be available until Jesus returns. I recommend that people copy out whatever information they want to have access to in the future. The copying can be either to a personal computer, and backed up on a thumb drive; or (preferably) to a printout. Anyone in the ministry of the Word should be prepared to fully carry on their work without access to the internet. Some online Bible-help programs, such as Blue Letter Bible, are available (in a limited version) on a CD.

  21. All's well that ends well, @George. Good to see Worthy back and unscathed! We know what really happened, yes? It was @enoob57's fault. It's always nooby's fault, yes indeed.

  22. That is a good idea. I was a long time member with a board that was closed down and about 25 of us moved over to Facebook, and we created a group so we could all keep up with each other. That was about ten years ago, and we all post to each other every day.

  27. Not so" simply " like 20 yrs of millions of gb of data have to be recovered---George working with IT to get it up and running but the hundred of daily " hits" interfered with the process by constant interupptions.... finally they built a parallel site to work on and enter all thst data and then changed the name to WCF..( my interpretation mind you ,from a very non tecky layman) But we're back- thank the Lord (& George) ❤️

  28. Sounds a bit odd, maybe a bit egotistical as well, but I always assume that whatever circumstances I find myself in God has a specific will for me in it, a specific role he wants me to play to bring about some end he desires. Now I don't expect that is some magnificent or glamorous role (think about "for the want of a nail) but just some tiny action he will use to bring about a greater result than I can imagine, maybe a result that I will never even suspect I was a part of or maybe one far removed in time to a future I cannot imagine even in my wildest imaginations. So when I find myself in any circumstance I have to deal with in one way or another I just quickly pray "God what do you want me to do, how do you want me to handle this?" then go about my day knowing that God answers prayers of this kind and I will know what to do and when to do it without having to worry about it. My life goes much easier when I do this, and I actually believe what I have said here, God has an individual role for you to play in everything you do and if you sek his will you will find it even if you don't realize you have. The way I think, nothing else.

  29. Yeah, it was interesting going "dark" there for a week! I suspected one of three things: Server crash, hacker, or George pulled the plug. And I did have some of those other thoughts too . . . we might have to go out and fellowship in person more!! LOL ;-) (since emoticons don't seem to be working . . .) So what really happened (just a server simply going down)?

  30. Someday, I expect this will happen. You will try to find what hav3 just become unapproved Christian sites (unapproved by the various PTB in high places) and they simply won't be there any more. AT that time only underground, dark web and other obscure types of communication, will be available and it will probably be too late at that point to start searching for them without attracting attention to yourself and how they can be used so it might not hurt to be prepared in advance so you can just move into them without arousing suspicion. This sounds paranoid but, sadly, it isn't.

  31. Matthew 14:28-31 And Peter answered Him and said, Lord, if it is you, command me to come to You on the water. And He said, “Come.” And when Peter got out of the boat, he walked on the water, to go to Yeshua (Jesus). But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Yeshua (Jesus) stretched out His hand, and caught him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When Peter stepped out of the boat to walk on water – he literally stepped out of the boat! Imagine that! But was Peter going overboard? No, I don’t believe so — he was literally taking a step of faith with his eyes fixed on the Lord! Often, when we step out in faith – it may appear that we are going overboard, but are we really? Honestly, the question is — “Can you really go overboard in your faith toward God?” I don’t think so! When our passion is no longer on the Lord, then that’s when we’re going overboard. When you love the Lord God with “all your heart, mind and soul”– it’s okay to step out and go all out for God — because in God, the only way to go overboard is to not go overboard enough! 32. I cant understand why it is anyone business but your own how many if any piercings/ tattoos etc you have One of my daughters has a couple of tattoos several ear piercings ( including one of the huge holes that I think she should put a tiny parrot dangling from the centre ) One daughter has a tiny tattoo and one set of ear piercings and a third has just one set of ear piercings Myself I have never been a fan of deliberately inflicting pain so have none . I do remember my aunt piercing her sisters ears with a bar of soap held behind the ear and a darning needle passed through the flame of a candle and then stabbed into the ear and through into the soap ...a standard way of doing it about 60 years ago when there were few if any professional ear piercing places It is not unusual these days to see eyebrows and noses or even lips pierced ( I do cringe at the thought of blowing your nose when you have studs in it lol ) as well as other more personal and ( hopefully ) hidden piercings but again it is a personal choice and one you have to live with for the rest of your life as even if you let the holes heal up these is always a slight scar . Fashions change ...as a child it was considered very " low class " to have a tattoo ( only criminals and sailors had them we were told ) and what may look pretty on young taut skin can look very unsightly on old wrinkled skin Indeed lots of younger people appear to be going away from permanent tattoos and having ones that last a few years and then fade done and I noticed during the covid panic that clip on earrings were making a come back so maybe in another 60 years people will wonder why yet again but I wont be around to worry lol

  34. The Bible mentions giants, you know, with giant heads. People find them. It is still is not evidence of evolution if you find one. These scientists believe they have found a new 'species' with a small head, but it's only a human with Microcephaly. Remember the 'StarChild skull' they thought was some alien from outer space? It was just a human with malformed head, when tested. Alright, they found that pickle in a jar that had turned to stone in 70 years or less (not trillions of years). Show me how that does anything for evolution.

  35. Hey.. Why did Christ come? One of the reasons was to give you life and give it more abundantly. Not all the things you mentioned are of this world Remember the 6 words "For God so loved the World". This world does not belong to Satan. For just a short time he is the god of it. Remember Christ said "on earth as it is in heaven". So this life oh praise GOD is so wonderful. Well why would the Father want ALL to be born here, live here not to just die right away? Remember we are the light of this world. We are to shine.. and it is never boring. We have His joy! That alone.. oh YES!

  36. Reminders – As in the days of Noah There is a storm brewing on the horizon, and it has been forecast to be the worst storm ever recorded. Matthew 24:21 Some deny that it is coming, ignoring the signs, and saying the predictors are just a bunch of religious conspiracy nuts. Others acknowledge they see some clouds forming, but they’ve weathered storms before, and this won’t be any worse. Still others sense that something big is coming, but there is nothing they, nor anybody else can do about it. These responses might have been what Noah heard as he built the ark. He had been told by God that a flood covering the whole earth was coming. Genesis 6:17 Noah had no idea how that could happen. He didn’t even know what rain was, as God had not yet activated those weather forces that are seen now. Nevertheless, “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house;” Hebrews 11:7 The people of Noah’s day did not believe him about the coming judgement of God. They just went about their business, eating, drinking, and marrying, “until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.” Luke 17:27 Today, like Noah, Christians speak of the coming of the Great Tribulation period and what will follow. After these final seven years of God’s wrath upon mankind because of their unbelief, Jesus will return in glory to rule and reign on earth as King of kings and Lord of lords. The unrighteous will have been vanquished, and peace on earth, goodwill towards men will finally be fulfilled. We know these things are coming because we’ve read and believed what God has said in His Word about them. Revelation 1-22 But the rest of the world is going about its blind pursuit of fame, power, and riches. What should we be doing in preparation for this soon coming judgement? Just what Noah did. No, I don’t mean we should build an ark, but we are to listen for and obey the instructions God gives to us moment by moment for our daily lives. Hebrews 3:15 We are to be “of one mind, having compassion for one another, love as brethren, be tenderhearted, be courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but on the contrary, blessing; knowing that you are called to this.” 1 Peter 3:8-9 Most of all, we are to be “ready always to give an answer to everyone that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.” 1 Peter 3:15 Final Thoughts: Our friends, neighbors, and relatives are not like Noah’s animals that can be led two by two into the “ark of Jesus Christ.” But we can tell them of how we have gained entrance into that “ark,” and that they can enter in too. Look for opportunities to share your testimony. Tell others of how you were saved when you believed in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus for eternal life, and that they too can escape the coming wrath by believing this good news. Let our name be their response when asked, “who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?” Matthew 3:7 A worse thing than the flood is coming. (PH)

  37. An obviously non Biblical view. My question to Christians believing in evolution, which is not found in the Bible, is simply why do they not have the personal integrity to just say outright "I do not believe the Bible"? Because you either believe the Bible or you don't. Jesus believed and affirmed the Bible, is that not good enough for them that they somehow know better?

  38. Yes scientist that insist on carbon dating . But have no standard for calibrating . 500,000,000 years If there is no writen history by which they could calibrate it they simply add what ever is needed to make the word of God without effect. In the end of the matter chasing one's tail . We do not know Christ after the rudiments of this world (dust) after the philosophies of men . Looking to thing made the temporal can in a hope lead a person to the source of Christin s faith as it is written. But God must do that work . Preach the gospel in season or out Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. it would seem bottom line is

  39. Hey Teddyv, I think the bigger "problem", and the main implication of the Piltdown man hoax, is that "the scientists who study this stuff" didn't realize "there was a problem" for 40 years - despite the fact that most of the evidence used to discredit the hoax was available to these "scientists" from the time of discovery. This demonstrates that the "the scientists who study this stuff" were operating under the influence of a confirmation bias - which had them accept this evidence without the requisite due diligence - because it agreed with their worldview and narrative. This, in turn, demonstrates methodologically that facts are not simply followed to their natural conclusion (as is commonly, erroneously claimed), but rather interpreted according to the interpreter's worldview and presuppositions. Such implications are important when it comes to giving objective consideration of opposing positions. Hi Marathoner, These are largely semantic issues. The original definition of "ape" was a non-human, higher primate. Going by the secular description of the shared ancestor between humans and higher primates, the candidate would certainly qualify as an "ape". Since no-one is really characterizing the position as claiming humans evolved from modern "apes", this is an empty non-issue. This is inaccurate. The "fact" is that humans share more in common (genetically and morphologically) with apes than we do with any other creatures. However, the necessary association of 'similarity' with 'relatedness' is a matter of worldview; namely, the presupposition that all life is "related" - back to a common ancestor. That is, the interpretation that 'more similar' means 'more related' is founded in bias - presupposing the conclusion that all life is "related", and subsequently bringing that conclusion to the interpretation process.
