  1. Metaphors can and do ascribe any gender they wish to get their meaning across, and metaphors use all sorts of images and concepts interchangeably. Eph 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her (26) to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, (27) and to present her to Himself as a glorious church, without stain or wrinkle or any such blemish, but holy and blameless.

  4. Thought for the day. LOTRs has always been one of my favorite stories because of how in depth the story is. Well, on a LOTRs FB group I'm in it was brought up that gandalf brought 3 eagles to mt doom in return of the king to rescue the hobbits-one of them was for gollum. In fact throughout the series gollum has always been portrayed as a horrid creature and a villian. He killed his best friend over the ring and will do anything to keep it/get it back. He's literally evil, and in the end proves to be unredeemable. And Gandalf knew just how despicable he was, and even though he had multiple chances to kill him, he stays his hand, and even encourages frodo to show him mercy as well, which frodo does even going so far as to save gollums life on more then one occasion, once from his best friend sam. And in the end gollum dies due to his own treachery, and gandalf while not knowing that, does know just how treacherous gollum is still sent an eagle to rescue him. That's love. That's what Christ does for us, over and over, it's why He came here and died for us, even though He knew most of us would spit in his face. And yet, as Christians when we run up against someone who has done us wrong over and over and over again, were more apt to take the attitude that samwise and most of the rest of the characters in the LOTRs took towards Gollum, and write them off as evil, instead of loving them like Jesus does. We don't know if they are unredeemable or not, only God knows that, we need to love them regardless.

  6. This devotional today was a fresh revealing to me, that is, seeing how these two verses (2 Cor 5:16 & 17) go together. I pretty much always read verse 16 by itself, not realizing that verse 17 immediately goes to the believer/church! So how do we know the living Christ now? In Spirit! And where is His Spirit? He indwells His believers - so we can know Him in and through one another! (the other scriptural references given are rich in this meaning too!) The New Knowing of Christ "Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer." 2 Corinthians 5:16 The deep significance that Paul opens up here is a new kind of knowing of Christ in contrast to his old knowing of Christ. What is this new kind of knowing of Christ? The obvious answer is in 2 Corinthians 5:17, where Christ is presented in an enlarged way by Paul. He no longer considers Christ merely alone, by Himself. He says, "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation." Here Christ is not just an individual man, but a corporate man. Other persons are "in Him." So the new knowing of Christ is knowing Him as the church (Eph. 5:29-30). It is the knowing of Him according to 1 Corinthians 12:12, where both the one Body and the many members form one whole Christ! It is also the same knowing of Him found in Paul's prayer for the believers in Ephesians 1:17-23. There, the full knowledge of God is to know Christ as the Head of His Body, the church, which is described as being "the fullness of the One who fills all in all." It is the church as Christ which is the new kind of knowing of Christ in 2 Corinthians 5:16. The church described as "the new man" in Colossians 3:10-11 is also the new kind of knowing of Christ. The church as the new man of the new creation is the realm where Christ is all and in all. It is also the realm where old things have passed away and all things have become new! In this realm we know each other as members of Christ. We no longer regard or know each other according to the differences and distinctions of the old creation (Gal. 3:27-28). In the new creation we always prefer Christ in one another. (from The Supplied Life, by B. Freeman)

  12. Question ... are you united with those who believe it's OK to have gay preachers, but still follow God according to their faith? I bet your answer will be "NO, they are not true believers", but then we are actually saying that not everyone who claims to be a christian is a true christian; therefore, not part of His body. That's an extreme example, I know ... which is why I chose it. It's easy to see. In the end, He will separate the sheep from the goats, but until then, there is a community of those who claim to be His with both true and false Christians. I'm sure everyone will be surprised with who did and who did not make it, according to Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

  13. Our bible study, men's class, though structured (semi formal) it becomes casual(informal) and mostly can stray in any direction on any topic, digging for nuggets participated by everyone so there is active back and forth questions/answers by all. I see this as a cool opportunity for what a member may be seeking, but related to the topic that is not on the structured agenda. Our teacher having a particular lesson prepared eventually draws us back on topic, yet much is learned by so many different promptings of God's spirit, sometimes much as not as from each other as our teacher.

  14. One learns theology partly through sermons, partly through talking/discussing theology and partly through study. This then influences one's choice of what church to join. As a church member one can discuss sermon content with the preachers. It is what Paul was driving at when he moaned about " baby Christians " not growing in their faith so to be able to eat solid food.

  15. Interesting topic where both sides are correct, to a point. Yes, the body, though in Christ, is divided on what they believe and how they walk in their faith, but are one in Him. It's a hard thing to wrap one's head around sometimes when we take a serious look around. Even those of the time of Paul were divided to a point. That is the issue we have by being human. We follow what we believe, whether right or wrong.

  18. Without the dividing of the Living Word of God, we may not have any idea that things we are doing actually has it's source in the soul. Oftentimes we think good things/religious activities we're involved in are spiritual, when they are really sourced in the self-bound soul. Praise God for the light from His living Word! The Word Divides "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12 A believer's greatest need is to get into the Word of God regularly and to go to the Lord day by day, especially in the mornings. Open up to the Lord and begin to pray over the verses. Reading the Bible must be more to us than a routine or academic pursuit. We need to actually contact God while we are in the Word. By getting into the Word in this way, we find it is "living and powerful." It begins to operate; it begins to speak. A word will stand out, a verse will stand out, or a phrase will stand out, and then you begin to pray with what touches you. That word entering into your heart clears you up inwardly. "The entrance of Your words gives light" (Psa. 119:130). You begin to see that you have been in your self--in your emotions, in your reactions, in your pride and hardness. You have been in your hurt feelings or in your reasoning mind about someone. You have chosen your own will. Light begins to dawn upon you, and you become inwardly clear about where you have been. You get divided. You begin to see how you have sinned, how you have lived in your soulish life, how you have lived out of your impulses, or how your motive for saying something was altogether impure. The word divides your soul and spirit, and discerns the thoughts and intents of your heart. With this dividing and discerning, you begin to repent and confess to the Lord your lack of living out from Him. As you confess, your spirit rises to the surface of your being (cf. Eph. 5:18-19 with Col. 3:16), and everything becomes crystal clear. What originates from your soul is exposed to you, and what originates from your spirit is manifested. There is the realm of the soul and there is the realm of the spirit, and it is the living and active word of God that discovers for us which realm we are living in. (from The Supplied Life by B. Freeman)

  19. I hold the same belief that Jesus is God. Jesus is not the Father nor the Spirit, but he is the Son. All three have unique tasks and some same tasks, but all three, together in a way that we cannot understand, are God. They are one. I got this from the Bible. Romans 9:5 = "To them [Jews] belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen." John 1:1 = "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 20:28 = Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” 2 Peter 1:1 = "Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ." There's more, but I will stop here. Yes, Jesus is Lord. He is also the Lamb, the Lion, the Way, the Truth, the Life, the Creator, and so much more. And the Bible states by various authors that he is God. He is not the Father, nor the Spirit, he is the Son. They are ONE - God.

Sure I've read a bunch of books, I've seen things that seemed to be intelligently powered, but like 99% of the other reports no real explanation is to be had. We know who is in charge on this earth temporarily, but he is on a leash with respect to how far he is allowed to go. Sometimes he goes further (Job), and sometimes he doesn't. I probably see the ufo phenomenon in much the same way atheists see God. The difference figuratively in a comparitive way to Christianity is I've been on the mother ship and talked with the head alien. Sure some make that claim, and no doubt they had an experience they feel they can validate, but we also know psy ops and drugs can change perceptions. Some whistle blowers who can also be psy ops monkeys have come forward to say they know things. The way I see it now is, no matter what the game, I know who won the war and who is ultimately in charge. Throw all the big frisbees at me you want. It doesn't matter.

  22. I believe one of the major differences is what we go after as believers, or what we prioritize. What are our priorities? What do we value? Why? A person's priorities will show what they value. I am reminded of the parable of the pearl of great price that when found everything else is vanity. The things that once seemed important are no longer important. We go after the things of the Spirit now. Nothing wrong with wealth or those sorts of things if they are in their proper places. If you knew you had a limited time on this earth short term life, what would you do? I think the answer shows us a lot.

  26. Contemplating Psalms 52:1-3, that we heard: “Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The goodness of God endures continually. Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. You love evil more than good, Lying rather than speaking righteousness. Selah” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭52:1-3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Let us contemplate this: “Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The goodness of God endures continually.” Can we consider a man mighty because he boast in evil or mischief? No. The man whom we should consider mighty is Christ, for He who boasts or praises that the goodness of God endures continually. So let us be those who are in Christ, that praise the goodness of God endures continually, for we shall be mighty in union with Him. Then let us contemplate,”Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. “ Should our tongue devise destruction? No. Our tongues should form or conceive or think up or work out salvation like a precious ointment, working righteously. In other words, our tongues should speak out salvation, that is, Christ like a precious ointment, that is His loving kindness toward us, that is rejoicing the hearts in union with Him. Next, we contemplate,”You love evil more than good, Lying rather than speaking righteousness.” So we should not love you evil but hate evil, that we love good, speaking righteousness rather than lying, that we should not speak our self righteousness but speak the righteousness of God. For we who love good, we love God, that we speak the righteousness of God that comes through faith in Christ Jesus. Paraphrasing for clarity: We understand the man whom we should consider mighty is Christ, for He who boasts or praises that the goodness of God endures continually. So we who are in Christ, also praise the goodness of God endures continually, for we shall be mighty in union with Him. Our tongues work out salvation like a precious ointment, working righteously; our tongues speak out salvation, that is, Christ like a precious ointment, that is His loving kindness toward us, that is rejoicing the hearts in union with Him. We who love good, love God, that we speak the righteousness of God that comes through faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen [ To God be the glory] and Amen.

  29. Our relationship with Christ is FOUR-FOLD, and each one is structured differently. - We are His BODY. This is a PHYSICAL relationship as we are "MEMBER in Particular". In John 2 His BODY would be raised on the third day. The BODY suffers loss and is lost at death. The solution for dead men is RESURRECTION - the "gates of Hades" being opened to complete the Church (Matt.16:16-18) - We are His BRIDE. Eve is the type. She came out of Adam as he slept. We came out of Christ as He slept (Jn.12:24). This is a PHYSICAL relationship as "we are bones of His bones" and it is "not good for a MAN to be alone" - We are God's Temple, God's HOUSE. This is a SPIRITUAL relationship because He entered us by the SPIRIT (Jn.20:22, 2nd Pet.2:4) - In our WORSHIP we are in a SPIRITUAL relationship because God is a SPIRIT (Jn.4:24) and he who is joined to the Lord is ONE SPIRIT (1st Cor.6:17) In this way we satisfy God - Who is a Spirit, and we satisfy Christ Who took the form of a MAN.

Needless to say, that goes along with believing that what He says is true. And genuine belief leads to commitment - in other words, following Him and obeying His teaching.

Consider who he was running against in those elections I've always been conservative and I try to consider the most conservate option of the ones available. Unfortunately and contrary to popular belief, that isn't always the R candidate. It's never the D candidate. So in elecions like in 08 and 12 I voted 3rd party. In 16 and 20 the most conservative was DJT so he got my vote. My son said, "Dad, how can you vote for a man with Trumps moral baggage?" 40. That doesn't "say" the account isn't literal. The new earth will have no sun either. Rev 22:5 - There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. iow, God doesn't need to create a star to give light. That's how to literally understand Genesis 1. When God is present, He gives light. No problem. There is always a possibility of problems when people claim certain passages aren't literal. That just gives those who claim that a pretty wide berth to make their claims. It's easy to come up with various "meanings" of these so-called non literal texts. That's what the amillennialists do with Rev 20, which is clearly literal. Maybe you just see similarities. The Bible SAYS God created MAN in "their image", which is never said about any mammal. You're on very thin ice here. God created Adam intact as a fully grown and mature male of the species. Same with the woman, who came from MAN, and not "other vertebrates". I certainly believe that, given all the back and forths with rv who won't acknowledge the reality that there is no such thing as formless objects. I don't deny any of this. But I sure do deny that man evolved from any other created mammal. A literal read of Genesis 1-2 denies what you claim. As you say, there is no point in denying His word. I agree.

  44. Yeah that's what I miss in my life. Revival. I once went to an atheist forum with mainly angry ex christians who tried to trick you to come in with a topic 200 questions for the believer. I was really naive, had just discovered forums even existed and was like: Yay! Lets convert this bunch! That was really stupid, but I prayed for them and God gave me a dream. A lot of birds were ensnared and in a room and then the overseeer left for a moment and I quickly opened their traps and freed em. I want all these atheists saved. I want to give them proof. I pray the church stands up and shows them proof. I mean if people get raised from the dead I can't believe that they stay atheist. And one great testimony I read from a guy who was atheist and no fantastic miracles happened, but he moved to a place where a lot of christians lived and because there was such unity and love between them he became convinced that God existed. that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. John 17:21 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/jhn.17.21.NKJV There's a man who went to the street with a group and they got 2000 people saved in 2 years and I went to his Bible studies and God was present there so strong. He preached about the widow who had to search for empty vessels and the oil kept flowing, which was exactly what you could notice there, cause they continually looked for empty vessels on the street.

  45. Haven't read any of the other posts, so if there are duplicate ideas I apologize. First off, Welcome to Worthy!! I will tell you what happened and what continues to happen with me so maybe you can see something that might help you ok? One thing any new believer needs is fellowship. Are you meeting with a group of likeminded people? I was on Quora yesterday reading line after line of statements from atheists who don't believe in God, with many of them getting many hundreds of likes from other atheists. You could say I was in their 'company' for awhile. Most of it was similar. "If God would show me EVIDENCE I would believe". God drowned everyone and will burn anyone who doesn't agree with Him in hell. Why follow a God like that? All in all it was a very depressing negative place to be in, even though I could somewhat sympathize because to the natural man, this is their only reality. Unless they are open to God and allow Him to show them they will never know. In order for that to happen they need to seek God, but many of them won't seek after something they don't see a need for. Then it comes down to some kind of a spiritual intervention is needed for them to even consider such a thing. They don't think they see any god in anything. Christians have a purpose and a reason. Most importantly we have a personal relationship with Jesus through prayer. We accepted His sacrifice as you did. Jesus LOVES you. One of the greatest characters in the bible, David had terrible days. We can read it in the Psalms. He never doubted God though. He trusted in God for his needs and he never questioned what God did. We will all have those down days. If you stay in fellowship with other belivers, pray, confess anything that stands between you and Him, and read the bible, you will grow stronger in your faith. Right now it may be more important to spend time with God than any videos etc. Just spend time with Him. Share your frustrations with Him. "and still feel as a Christian that something is missing in my life spiritually. " We all have those feelings occasionally, but remember our salvation is never based on us or how we feel. You WILL feel better again. He knows more about you than you do, and He will give you what you need if you stay in him. Does that help?

  48. Monday 2-19-24 2nd. Day Of The Weekly Cycle, Adar 8 5784 61st. Winter Day Galatians 5 Position Of Liberty: Stand Fast 1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. 7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? 8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. 9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. 10 I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. 11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. 12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you. Practice Of Liberty: Love One Another 13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. Conflict Between The Spirit And The Flesh 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Works Of The Flesh 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Works Of The Spirit 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. Galatians 5:5 (KJV) - Forerunner Commentary For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. www.bibletools.org Love, Walter And Debbie
