I have a Rutger's educated sister-in-law who has been an ObGyn for decades. She lost out on job opportunities (and I suspect was even fired) for refusing to perform abortions. She is a pillar!!!3 points

I fully agree. I've been watching heresy hunters (as I think of them) flourish in some circles for decades. It's a seductive thing and I spent a few years as a zealous heresy hunter myself. You start off with sincere motives but it eventually turns into a dark obsession with finding false teaching in every ambiguous statement a person makes, especially if they are outside of your denomination or theological opinions. At some point, you start looking at individual words and wondering what do they "really" mean when they say this and assume the worst. It's ultimately a prideful trap where you think you are among the spiritual elite discerning enough to see false teaching that most others are missing. And you see yourself as doing an indispensable service to the church. What got me out of it was looking into original sources for myself. There was a particular popular author and book (not named here) that had started me down this path of heresy hunting in the early 80's. I didn't question what he said since the book was heavily researched and well-documented, and thought God had lead me across a critical situation in the church that everyone should be concerned about and do something about. I didn't question a thing in the book for months until someone in a Sunday school class handed me a booklet written by a person I'd labeled as a false teacher on the basis of that book. I enthusiastically tore into it to verify the accusations and to maybe find more. Instead, I found that my go-to book and author was full of cherry-picked, out of context, and misrepresented material. In the very first case I looked at, the original author had written a paragraph and in the next two paragraphs expanded on what he did and did not mean. My go-to book ignored and did not quote this writer's paragraph on what he did not mean and made the claim that that was indeed what he really meant. In other words, my trusted heresy hunter was putting the wrong words into the original author's mouth and accused him of teaching something he explicitly said was wrong. I was shocked at this outright lie and assumed it was an oversight. But then I found similar "oversights" in a few other cases I looked at. I realized that this was indeed the modus operandi of this heresy hunting author. He had reached a point where he was putting words into people's mouths about what they really were and were not intending to say. Over the years, I've seen that same pattern in many heresy hunters. There is simply the sincere belief that any ambiguous phrase is assumed to be hiding someone's actual beliefs and that it is okay to pull things out of context because they have something to hide. Awhile ago, I spent a fair amount of effort on this site trying to fact check the most egregious examples I was seeing (which in my mind were probably pushing being slander or libel and definitely at a level of falsely accusing the brethren), but ultimately it's tiring and exhausting, and a never ending task that takes away time from other things. Unfortunately, the couple of seconds it takes to copy and paste or link to a false accusation often overwhelms the amount of time it takes to meaningfully research and address it. This is especially true with elaborate and extensive accusations that pile together 101 Reasons so-and-so is a heretic where the sheer weight of "evidence" takes on a life of its own where showing the first 10 of the list of 101 reasons are wrong does not disprove the other 91 in some people's minds.3 points

What does the Bible say about women pastors? https://www.gotquestions.org ANSWER There is perhaps no more hotly debated issue in the church today than the issue of women serving as pastors. As a result, it is very important to not see this issue as men versus women. There are women who believe women should not serve as pastors and that the Bible places restrictions on the ministry of women, and there are men who believe women can serve as pastors and that there are no restrictions on women in ministry. This is not an issue of chauvinism or discrimination. It is an issue of biblical interpretation. The Word of God proclaims, “A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent” (1 Timothy 2:11–12). In the church, God assigns different roles to men and women. This is a result of the way mankind was created and the way in which sin entered the world (1 Timothy 2:13–14). God, through the apostle Paul, restricts women from serving in roles of teaching and/or having spiritual authority over men. This precludes women from serving as pastors over men, which definitely includes preaching to them, teaching them publicly, and exercising spiritual authority over them. There are many objections to this view of women in pastoral ministry. A common one is that Paul restricts women from teaching because in the first century, women were typically uneducated. However, 1 Timothy 2:11–14 nowhere mentions educational status. If education were a qualification for ministry, then the majority of Jesus’ disciples would not have been qualified. A second common objection is that Paul only restricted the women of Ephesus from teaching men (1 Timothy was written to Timothy, the pastor of the church in Ephesus). Ephesus was known for its temple to Artemis, and women were the authorities in that branch of paganism—therefore, the theory goes, Paul was only reacting against the female-led customs of the Ephesian idolaters, and the church needed to be different. However, the book of 1 Timothy nowhere mentions Artemis, nor does Paul mention the standard practice of Artemis worshipers as a reason for the restrictions in 1 Timothy 2:11–12. A third objection is that Paul is only referring to husbands and wives, not men and women in general. The Greek words for “woman” and “man” in 1 Timothy 2 could refer to husbands and wives; however, the basic meaning of the words is broader than that. Further, the same Greek words are used in verses 8–10. Are only husbands to lift up holy hands in prayer without anger and disputing (verse 8)? Are only wives to dress modestly, have good deeds, and worship God (verses 9–10)? Of course not. Verses 8–10 clearly refer to all men and women, not just husbands and wives. There is nothing in the context that would indicate a narrowing to husbands and wives in verses 11–14. Yet another objection to this interpretation of women in pastoral ministry is in relation to women who held positions of leadership in the Bible, specifically Miriam, Deborah, and Huldah in the Old Testament. It is true that these women were chosen by God for special service to Him and that they stand as models of faith, courage, and, yes, leadership. However, the authority of women in the Old Testament is not relevant to the issue of pastors in the church. The New Testament Epistles present a new paradigm for God’s people—the church, the body of Christ—and that paradigm involves an authority structure unique to the church, not for the nation of Israel or any other Old Testament entity. Similar arguments are made using Priscilla and Phoebe in the New Testament. In Acts 18, Priscilla and Aquila are presented as faithful ministers for Christ. Priscilla’s name is mentioned first, perhaps indicating that she was more prominent in ministry than her husband. Did Priscilla and her husband teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to Apollos? Yes, in their home they “explained to him the way of God more adequately” (Acts 18:26). Does the Bible ever say that Priscilla pastored a church or taught publicly or became the spiritual leader of a congregation of saints? No. As far as we know, Priscilla was not involved in ministry activity in contradiction to 1 Timothy 2:11–14. In Romans 16:1, Phoebe is called a “deacon” (or “servant”) in the church and is highly commended by Paul. But, as with Priscilla, there is nothing in Scripture to indicate that Phoebe was a pastor or a teacher of men in the church. “Able to teach” is given as a qualification for elders, but not for deacons (1 Timothy 3:1–13; Titus 1:6–9). The structure of 1 Timothy 2:11–14 makes the reason why women cannot be pastors perfectly clear. Verse 13 begins with “for,” giving the “cause” of Paul’s statement in verses 11–12. Why should women not teach or have authority over men? Because “Adam was created first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived” (verses 13–14). God created Adam first and then created Eve to be a “helper” for Adam. The order of creation has universal application in the family (Ephesians 5:22–33) and in the church. The fact that Eve was deceived is also given in 1 Timothy 2:14 as a reason for women not serving as pastors or having spiritual authority over men. This does not mean that women are gullible or that they are all more easily deceived than men. If all women are more easily deceived, why would they be allowed to teach children (who are easily deceived) and other women (who are supposedly more easily deceived)? The text simply says that women are not to teach men or have spiritual authority over men because Eve was deceived. God has chosen to give men the primary teaching authority in the church. Many women excel in gifts of hospitality, mercy, teaching, evangelism, and helping/serving. Much of the ministry of the local church depends on women. Women in the church are not restricted from public praying or prophesying (1 Corinthians 11:5), only from having spiritual teaching authority over men. The Bible nowhere restricts women from exercising the gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12). Women, just as much as men, are called to minister to others, to demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23), and to proclaim the gospel to the lost (Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; 1 Peter 3:15). God has ordained that only men are to serve in positions of spiritual teaching authority in the church. This is not because men are necessarily better teachers or because women are inferior or less intelligent (which is not the case). It is simply the way God designed the church to function. Men are to set the example in spiritual leadership—in their lives and through their words. Women are to take a less authoritative role. Women are encouraged to teach other women (Titus 2:3–5). The Bible also does not restrict women from teaching children. The only activity women are restricted from is teaching or having spiritual authority over men. This precludes women from serving as pastors to men. This does not make women less important, by any means, but rather gives them a ministry focus more in agreement with God’s plan and His gifting of them.3 points

For most women, to become pregnant as a result of rape is a continuation of the assault. Having dealt with many rape victims through my career, I can assure you that most of them fear pregnancy more than they fear catching sexually transmitted infections. This is why even strict anti-abortion laws usually make an exception for rape. Now I would agree that the baby in such a case is innocent and deserves a chance to live - but few women can cope psychologically with carrying such a pregnancy to term (even if the baby is then adopted). It's hard even for Christians, it's almost impossible for unbelievers. Thankfully the advent of emergency contraception has made pregnancy after rape much rarer.3 points

As you know, my husband is a bone fide, hard-core atheist. I have been praying for him since I got saved in 2019. As some of you may also know, I was under some family pressure to have our recent baby Christened in the Catholic church. You may also know that I was absolutely torn about this but felt God giving His permission. I prayed that God would redeem the situation to bring my husband to faith. The ceremony was a few weeks ago and was fine. I didn't have to say or agree to anything I didn't believe in and it was actually a lovely day. After the Christening, my husband said we should go to Mass sometime as the priest was very nice. Guys. This was so out of character that I nearly fell off my chair. I agreed and never brought it up again. He said he wants to be polite to the priest by going back, but he never cared about being polite to priests when our previous 2 kids were Christened (before I was saved). I am happy to facilitate this as an entry point to discussions about the true Gospel but never brought it up again. I always wait for the Holy Spirit to open doorways. Well, my husband just asked me if we can go to Mass tomorrow. I didn't ask any questions but looked up Mass Times and we are going at 11.30 in the morning. I believe that God is at work here. Even though I disagree with a lot of the doctrine of Catholicm, I believe there are saved Catholics. There are no saved atheists. This could be a great opportunity to open conversation, discuss the real Gospel, talk about Jesus, just go to a place of worship together! Please. Whatever your views may be on the RC Church, this might be a very crucial point in my husband's faith journey. Who knows what this will lead to. Please pray for him! And me!2 points

How often do some abandon merciful judgment, forgetting the mercy of God toward us all, casting shrill accusations upon their fellows? If anyone here can make the claim to be free of error, then let them be judged accordingly. Any spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God. That is the teaching of the apostle. Furthermore, mercy triumphs over judgment (James 2:13); judge not, lest you be judged (Luke 6:37). Knowing these things, we should beware that we aren't found to be an unrighteous judge before the sight of the Lord. The measure by which we judge shall be returned to us. As the Lord said to those accusers of the adulterous woman, let he who is without sin cast the first stone. The only one present without sin neither accused her not cast a stone. He forgave her instead. We are to be like Him.2 points

Name an example where a 10 year old couldn't carry the child to term. I have yet to hear of an example of a 10 year old dying in pregnancy. I have heard an example of a 9 year old who carried almost to term and delivered via C-section because the doctors were worried the child couldn't handle to actual birthing process, but the actual pregnancy the girl had zero issues with. The parents adopted the child and raised it as a little sibling, it's father was a now imprisoned uncle. And C-sections in this day in age aren't a big deal. Many mother's choose C-sections out of convenience. Modern medicine is a wonderful thing, don't you agree?2 points

Sunday 7-17-22 1st. Day Of The Weekly Cycle, Tammuz 17, 5782 27th. Summer Day Traveling Mercies Read: Deuteronomy 2:1–7 | Bible in a Year: Psalms 18–19; Acts 20:17–38 Download MP3 Subscribe to iTunes He has watched over your journey . . . and you have not lacked anything. Deuteronomy 2:7 You might start your journey in the southwest United States in a dusty town called Why, Arizona. Heading cross-country would take you through Uncertain, Texas. Bearing northeast, you’d make a rest stop in Dismal, Tennessee. Ultimately, you’d reach your destination—Panic, Pennsylvania. These are real places across the landscape of America, though not likely a trip you’d ever choose to take. Sometimes this is exactly what the journey of life feels like. We easily identify with the Israelites’ tough life in the wilderness (Deuteronomy 2:7)—life can be hard. But do we see the other parallels? We create our own itinerary, turning from God’s way (1:42–43). Like the Israelites, we often grumble about getting our needs met (Numbers 14:2). In our daily fretting, we likewise doubt God’s purposes (v. 11). The story of the Israelites is repeated over and over in our own. God assures us that if we follow His path, He’ll deliver us into a far better place than Dismal. He’ll provide and we’ll lack nothing we really need (Deuteronomy 2:7; Philippians 4:19). Yet as much as we already know this, we often fail to do it. We need to follow God’s roadmap. It’s a bit more of a drive, but another six hours by car would take you from the town of Panic to the place known as Assurance, West Virginia. If we let God direct our paths (Psalm 119:35), we’ll journey in joy with Him at the wheel—blessed assurance indeed! What are some of the ways you’ve followed your own roadmap instead of God’s? What have you been fretting about? Faithful God, help me rest in the assurance of Your direction. INSIGHT As Moses led the Israelites into Canaan, they had to pass through the lands occupied by the Edomites and Moabites. Both nations were hostile to them, yet God forbade them from fighting them or taking over their lands because they were relatives. The Edomites were Esau’s descendants (Genesis 36:9) and the Moabites were Lot’s descendants (19:30–38). As some two million Israelites moved across Edomite territory, God even ordered them to compensate the Edomites, their cousins, for the food and water they consumed (Deuteronomy 2:2–6). God’s grace for nations hostile to His people is seen in how He made provisions for the Edomites (and the Egyptians) in the Mosaic law, allowing them to worship Him too: “Do not despise an Edomite, for the Edomites are related to you. Do not despise an Egyptian, because you resided as foreigners in their country” (23:7). Slander, is a false spoken statement that damages another's' reputation. If a false statement is written, then that is called libel. You accuse someone of slander who what, wrote something? That is a curious thing. So first off, you wrote something false that damages a reputation when you accused a writer of Slander. You are presuming what he wrote is false, so guilty because you have pre-judged him just assuming he was wrong, maybe you should wait to see where the evidence points. This does not sound like an impartial investigation, it sounds as if you are out to get even with someone for daring to state that there is something wrong with a teacher you like - or am I missing something here? If it turns out, that there is evidence that Joyce Meyer made these statements, or other ones which may come up, are you ready to apologize for what you are doing? Really, you should already apologize even if she is not a false teacher, because you are making your accusations before you have looked at the evidence. I believe what you are doing, is called sin. If the evidence is not up to your standards, like citations of written materials, and voice recordings of Ms Meyer, you are now going to claim that they are doctored? Seriously wow! If video is produced, will you then claim they were crafted using CGI technology? Then, you go and assign motive [jealousy] to those who accuse her. Can you really know there hearts? Maybe examine your own heart and see what really is motivating you. Still, here are some plausible sources of information, that readers may look at, because if she is a false teacher, that should be exposed. You have already set the bar very high for what you consider to be proof, others may have different standards, and find them credible, and not assume bad motives. By proposing bad motives, you are again [without knowledge] damaging reputations. That may not be false information, but it is certainly not something you know to be true. youtube: Is Joyce Meyer a False Teacher The beat by Allen Parr Joyce Meyer || False Teacher Police Leader Joyce Meyer: False Teacher? - 12 Concerns (w/ Voddie Baucham, Justin Peters, Todd Friel) ReformedWiki Did Joyce Meyer REPENT Of Her False Teaching?! That is usually the case regarding this type of thing. People do not like those who don't agree 100% with all their 'pet doctrines' and instead of taking their concerns to the Lord for His decision, they feel that they have to take matters into their own hands. Frankly, we should investigate these things, but, also be aware, accusations and slander are traits much like the 'accuser of the brethren'. It is a very slippery slope, and Jesus has little patience for it . . . . unless they repent of it, they will have to answer for it at Jesus' Bema Seat. Ray . . .2 points

We should confront unsound doctrine, heresies, and false teachers, but we must have concrete proof of error, and not slander or defame. We must take care like a detective solving a crime, and make sure we gather “hard” evidence if there is any. That is my chief concern, that sound doctrine prevail, but that no one is needlessly demonized for something you cannot prove beyond reasonable doubt they believe. If its published in their book or in a video, that is more concrete than sound clips that can be edited from multiple sermons to make sentences: See the movie Sneakers, “My voice is my password,” where Marty (Robert Redford) and his team have to piece together words a bald man says to create his sentence key code.2 points

Pointing out that you don't (and cannot) identify with a woman in that situation is a fact, not an emotional argument. You are presenting your opinion as fact, but that does not make it so. As someone else pointed out earlier in the thread, emergency contraception is commonly used after rape. There are those that feel that this is also abortion, but I disagree. I don't know how safe this would be for the 9 and 10 year old girls mentioned earlier, but I suspect it would be much safer than being forced to carry a baby to term - which is exactly what some people want to see happen.2 points

Whomever the Lord sees fit to use according to His purpose, let that one be received. Their words and conduct should be judged by their own merit; fairly and without respect of persons. 17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. 18 For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.” 19 Do not receive an accusation against an elder except from two or three witnesses. 20 Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear. 21 I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality. 22 Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure. 1 Timothy 52 points

My view: it is still a baby. Why should a woman get a free pass to kill the baby just because it is the product of a rape? Give the child away if a woman does not want it. To have abortion is to add another sin (this time from the woman) to that of the man who assaulted her.2 points

This is to continue a conversation on Joyce Meyer. Claims against her as a false teacher are: 1) She claims Jesus is no longer The Son of God (heresy) 2) She says she isn’t a Sinner On the 1) I found only a sound bites of her with a still photo on youtube. Anyone can splice words together from what she had said with movie making programs. 2) Could be semantics, she says she isn’t a sinner. The context could be, we are “A New Creation” in Christ, baptized in his death and ao are not sinners anymore but “Kings and Priests.” (Revelation 1:5-6). If she says she doesn’t sin, then that falls under, “if we say we have not sinned, we call God a liar.” (1 John 1:10) If either of these or more can be verified, then yes its heresy and must be addressed. The biggest problem is all the sound bites are grainy and doesn’t sound like her voice pitch. I’d be more convinced if there was video footage of one of her sermons. Everyone knows you can easily doctor audio. Video or a published book is harder.1 point

I agree. Im against abortion but no 10yr old at that age should be carrying a child to term. At this point alot of people seem to want to win an argument then look at the big picture. Sometimes abortions are needed. Agreed. I have trouble with that too. Like i said its more of people wanting to win am argument. A lot of people don't want to put in the work to actually make a difference. They'll say well theres plenty of charities and pregnancy crisis centers but its still not enough. I truly feel if you believe the life of unborn children and children period is valuable you'll put your money where your mouth is. Its not enough to say well someone else is doing it-- no you do something to because with the influx of children coming alot of help will be needed. Thats why when a coworker told me about her possibly being pregnant I told her I have clothes, diapers, a carrier..anything she needs bc Its hard. It takes help..it takes a village not lazy feel good one liners. It takes actual help. That part many arent willing to do. No they didn't but I understand not wanting to be traumatized further. What if the victim was your wife? Would you be okay raising and loving a child that isnt yours but conceived in this manner? Im not for abortion i just feel some situations may require it.1 point

1) I really don't think we can say that's true about the time of the Messiah. It's just that they had been given time to repent of their crucifixion of the Messiah, and they did not take that opportunity. So, God "lowered the boom" in 70 A.D., destroying much of that generation in the persecutions to follow. 2) While CaaleeV ("Caleb") was from the tribe of Yhudah ("Judah," see 1 Chronicles 2), Yehowshu`a ("Joshua") was from the tribe of Efrayim ("Ephraim," see 1 Chronicles 7). So, no, there's no connection through tribes. All I know is that God is COMPLETELY EFFICIENT! Not one word of His Scriptures will fall to the ground! Thus, all that we read that God said through His messengers (angels), will come true EXACTLY AS STATED.1 point

Yes...I presented that Im not a woman and can't fully understand what they're going through is indeed a fact. I presented it as such, I did not pretend otherwise. What I said was, using that to justify abortion is an emotional argument. Which it is. Ok, she's going through trauma. That's a fact. No I don't understand it, that's also a fact. But that doesn't make abortion right. Saying she can murder someone just because she can't handle the emotional trauma is an emotional argument, and not one based upon fact but rather your opinion based upon emotions. See, my "opinion" as you so call it about abortion, isn't based upon trauma, my personal experience or really, anything in my life. It's based upon what God says, in His holy book, which is very adamant and clear that murder, is wrong, and is very clear that life is sacred, not something to be tossed at a whim. While your feelings towards abortion is based entirely upon what you feel, and upon what women who have been raped feel, mine is based upon actual Biblical fact, not my own personal feelings, which is 100% what your opinion is based upon. I can say that with certainty, because had you been basing your opinion upon Biblical fact, we would not be having this conversation. You make the accusation that I am presenting my opinion as fact. Well, your accusation is accurate, I am presenting it as fact, because it IS fact. 100% true, impirical, fact based upon outside evidence -being God's holy, inspired word, the Bible. And if that's a crime, then I'm guilty. I make absolutely no apologies for defending God's holy word and the lives of the unborn.1 point

Shalom, Revelation Man. Oh, brother! Back to the ridiculous use of gematria, trying to sound intelligent. If you're going to use gematria or biblical numerology, at least get the meaning of the numbers correct! "7 = God's spritual perfection; 10 = The Ten Commandments; 12 = God's governmental perfection." But, there's nothing about "square roots" in this at all! While it is true that the square root of 144 is 12, it is the CUBE root of 1,000 that is 10! The square root of 1,000 is 31.6227766... ! And, it is faulty to mix the two, as though it had some significance! That's also true for 7000! The cube root of 1000 is 10, but the cube root of 7 is something irrational, 1.912931... ! Check out numerologynation.com, for instance, for a more complete listing of these numbers. But, the BETTER way is simply to realize that God uses numbers to get His points across and to define "countdowns" in Scripture. God gave the children of Israel in the wilderness a time of 40 years of wandering, signifying testing or probation! The same is true for the 40 years of testing after the Messiah was crucified before the destruction in 70 A.D. came true! Just don't go making the numbers to be something they're not! Again, this is an entirely INAPPROPRIATE use of the numbers in the Scriptures! It's as bad to mismatch these numbers as it is to put analogies together that don't belong together to make some sort of weak argument from allegory! The allegorical interpretation of Scripture is NOT VALID! Not in words, and NOT in numbers! I understand prophecy just fine, brother. YOU need to understand that the Scriptures were written BY children of Israel, FOR children of Israel, and ABOUT children of Israel! Therefore, to interpret ANYTHING outside of their affect on the children of Israel is to open yourself up to all kinds of MISINTERPRETATIONS and LIES!1 point

Scripture plainly and clearly teaches that God calls women to preach. There is as much controversy regarding the subject, whether God calls women to preach as there is on all other doctrinal issues. Thankfully, as always, the Scriptures clear up this question like they do all others matters if we will but believe the Bible. In the gospel there were several woman messengers who proclaimed the good news (Matt. 28:1-10; Luke 24:9-11; John 4:28-30; 20:16-18). Is proclaiming the good news preaching?? There is nothing in Scripture which says women cannot be used by God to further His work on this Earth? Regarding these end time days, in Acts we have a prediction that God will pour out of His Spirit in the last days "UPON ALL FLESH; and your sons and DAUGHTERS shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; and upon my servants and upon my HANDMAIDENS I will pour out of my Spirit and they will prophesy." Prophesying is explained in 1 Cor. 14:3-4 as "speaking unto MEN to edification and exhortation and comfort." Thats preaching, teaching, praying, in anyones language. and God says He will pour out His Spirit upon men and WOMEN to enable them to do this! These following passages prove to any unbiased mind that prophesying is for the church which has men and WOMEN members (1 Cor. 12:1-13; 14:1-6, 12, 24-26, 29-33). In Acts 21:8-9 we read Philip had four daughters that did prophecy or preach in the early church. In Romans 16 we have Phebe, Priscilla, Mary Junia, Tryphosa, Persis, all female names, women mentioned as laborers in the gospel. In Phil. 4:2-3 we have Euodias and Syntyche, two women who are emntioned as leaders in the local church at Philippi. They are referred to as "those WOMEN which labored with me in the Gospel." Paul speaks of the Corinthian women prophesying and praying in church (1 Cor. 11:4; 14:1-5, 23-26). When Paul said for women to "keep silence in the church" he was not speaking of women prophesying or praying, but he referred to asking their husbands certain things at church. He said, "If they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home" and not in the church (1 Cor. 14:34-35). But that they could speak and prophecy and pray in church is clear from 1 Cor. 11:4; 14:3-4, 23-26; and Acts 2:16-21. Women have been used in all ages by God, Read there Scriptures and some men can disbelieve them if they want, but who realy cares? Its the Scriptures which matter and not what some men think. (Ex. 15:20; Judges 4:4; 2 Kings 22:14; 2 Chron. 34:22; Neh. 6:14; Isa. 8:3; Luke 1:39-56; 2:36). God is soverign and He can use a woman when He pleases and He does not have to ask some mere man whom He should use and whether He should use a women or man. And most women I have heard have made more sense regarding doctrine than most men I have ever heard regarding doctrine or the actual Word of God? Leaving the question of women aside regarding their Christian walk and what motivates them regarding God's Word, we can just as easily ask, "What dominates the average male Christians life regarding God's Word?" It is not the major sins of the flesh that men permit to dominate them, but it is the sin of constantly doubting God and His Word that destroys the truth and men’s relationship with Him.1 point

What prevails in our life: the fear of the wicked or the desire of the righteous? • “What the wicked fears shall come upon him; but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.” (Pro 10:24). One of these fears are the illness. Fortunately, it there is this promise: • “And the prayer of faith shall *save* the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” (James 5:15). Lamentably, most of the people misunderstand what is being promised. Although the cure be attained (James 5:16), nevertheless the first preoccupation of the Creator is to save us. See the conversation between Jesus and the Canaanite woman (Matthew 15:25-28) and between Him and the Samaritan woman (John 4:13-24). In the first case, the woman first needed to realize her true reality, to wit: she was unworthy of procuring whatever it was direct from Jesus and, the most that she could acquire from Him it would be crumbles, and even so if she agreed to be His property, a pet animal under His total control. In the second case, the Samaritan wanted to get rid of the work. She couldn’t see that her great problem was the absence of the true love and their insecurity in regard to the true God and how and where to worship Him. We need to figure out that everything that come about us is consequence of our spiritual reality (pore on Isaiah 33:24). If we get spiritual health, we will be righteous and, as the desire of the righteous shall be granted, we will see all our “necessities” provided (Phil 4:19), much beyond what we can ask or fancy (Eph 3:20). Especially because: • “The Angel of Jehovah camps round about those who fear Him, and delivers them.” (Psa 34:7); • “O fear Jehovah, His holy ones; for there is nothing lacking to those who fear Him.” (Psa 34:9). So, have a good week purifying your heart, so that you can find place in your feelings and thoughts for what Jesus already conquered for you (1Corinthians 2:9; Ephesians 1:3; 2Peter 1:3).1 point

I don't see why not.. God has never asked me about it. I do believe it has to line up with word.. some out there do not. For me the word of God says anyone that says Jesus/Yeshua came in the flesh died on the cross for the worlds sin was buried and rose the 3rd day. Seated at the right hand of the Father and the only way to the Father. They are of God. Now some doctrine we don't like and does not change touch salvation. Then the problem is us not them. Yes yes I know we tend to think our truth supersedes what they teach. You know me and my wife today were in the car driving and there are problems that I thought.. lets put our hands together and toss it up to the lord and give it to Him, put it in His hands. Then not a second later the words in the song I didn't know have a clue was playing said "from my hands into yours". That was so so so cool! Praise GOD GLORY TO JESUS!1 point

Joyce has said, she is not a sinner. She has said that anyone who does not believe that Jesus went to Hell cannot be saved. She has said that when Jesus becames sin, He stopped being the Son of God. She has said that Jesus was born again. She had a version of the prosperity gospel, though I think she has repented of that. Regardless of the topic of the OP, I would say that Mrs. Meyers has been outside of orthodoxy enough to say that she has disqualified herself as a teacher, if her discernment is no better than that. She is not a modern Priscilla, in my opinion.1 point

No answer, Nice answer. I love you too. Not bully, just cause you to (maybe) think a bit. You made a statement. I responded to your statement. If you do not agree with my statement, it would be proper to state where I have erred, or misunderstood you. I believe I personally would not 'assume' there is not an actual living being when the possibility exist due to our inability to be certain. Your statement "implies" we don't know for certain, and "the untenable assumption" you said should not stop eliminating the life (if there could possibly be life). Do you understand better my statement? If so, how do you respond. No bully here. Facing truth sometimes hurts. Tell me where I misunderstood. Show me. We're talking about a 'possible' life here, though some have desensitized any thought of killing a blob, or a tumor as some call 'it'. In the image of God.... I apologize to you s4c if I have offended you. For sure. However, I stand on my statements so that the three hundred or so viewers/seekers watching and listening so far to our discussion do not receive an incorrect understanding that may sway their decision should they decide to consider abortion. I do not feel obligated to help others to free themselves of guilt when taking life, or potential life. I'm too old to accept this cheap life get rid of it mentality. If I err, may it be on the side of life...1 point

What do you think this phrase is speaking about? You might want to consider what He meant by this - I believe Jesus answered this in John 5:7-21. Jesus did not WORK on the Sabbath as the Pharisees had incorrectly interpreted how to keep His commandments - Jesus understood the essence of the Law and both the physical and spiritual keeping of the law - HE WAS DOING HIS FATHER'S WORK NOT WORK AS MAN WOULD DEFINE IT. 7The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” 8Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. 10The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.” 11He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’ ” 12Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” 13But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. 14Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” 15The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. 16For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, [d]and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath. 17But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.” 18Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God. 19Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. 20For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. 21For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. 22For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, 23that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. When we obey God's commandments in both the physical and spiritual way we are doing the WORK OF THE FATHER - not the secular definition of work.1 point

If this is how He leads you in this matter then absolutely you should obey. To go against that is a sin. You dont need to justify your understanding to anyone else.1 point

I'm not sure what you mean by "The Law". If you are speaking of the ten commandments, they were not enough to satisfy the Father in living in his presence. If you follow Jesus closely he transformed the ten commandments from just physical commandments to spiritual commandments and wrapped them up in the two he gave us. For instance take the commandment against murder.... fixed it to the point that you can't even want to commit murder and not just that you can't physically do so. With this way you aren't even supposed to hate anyone without just cause. Same as having lust for your neighbors stuff and his wife. If you look upon her with lust in your heart you are already guilty of adulatory. The ten commandments do not really cover loving your neighbor as is expected for Jesus followers to do. Read Matthew chapter 25 starting with verse 40. Jesus is judging people and sending them to hell. Read that closely and you sill discover that none of the reasons given actually break any of the ten commandments... You can go to hell without breaking "the law". People ask, "Am I my brothers keeper?" Well Jesus says for the most part, "Yes, you are." And that's some of the reasons that it wasn't enough to just be under the law. The laws of Moses were basically rules for us to live together here on earth, and Jesus's laws are to prepare us to live in the heavenly realm with them. The ten commandments were not enough to prepare us for that.1 point

Tell me, what is it like living in the first century? Do you walk around in sandals and a robe while tending your flock, returning home to eat gruel that your wife-slave has prepared? It is absurd to apply the rules of first century Mediterranean society to twenty-first century western society. Women are highly educated and highly qualified to perform any role in modern society, including the ministry. Unless you're a Jew -- and there are female rabbis today -- forget the "law of Moses"; and try living under God's grace. As was posted above, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female—for all of you are one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:281 point

7-2-2022 Miami Seventh Day Baptist Pastor David S. “Freedom In Christ” Galatians 5;1-6 We are free. We should have a feeling of freedom. We are free to move forward, free to move on and step into things that God has in mind. On July 4th we celebrate America’s freedom from British rule. We celebrate that freedom in America and we celebrate our freedom in Christ Jesus. We should recognize that we are in a place where we have freedom to worship as Christians. This should not be taken for granted. In colonial America, people didn’t have this religious freedom. The Seventh Day Baptists in the colonies were persecuted. They were persecuted because you were not allowed to be a Sabbath keeper. In Massachusetts Seventh Day Baptist were arrested in colonial America for keeping the Sabbath on the 7th day-Saturday. So they went to Rhode Island where there was freedom to worship as you pleased and be a Sabbath keeper (like Jesus). We should be grateful to God that we can come to church today, can tell people about the church services and not be persecuted. We should honor this and thank God for this religious freedom. We should value freedom and it’s importance. Do you value freedom? Is freedom important to you? Do you like having freedom? We as people generally do not like being restricted and feeling trapped. We don’t want to be in chains, shackles or be tied up. We don’t want to be weighed down or slowed down. In the text in Galatians it tells us of our freedom in Christ. Its all about being able to step out in freedom and to walk in freedom and to live in freedom. Paul tells the Galatians in chapter one verse six that he is astonished that they are deserting, leaving Christ and turning to a different gospel. Which is really no gospel at all. The Galatians opened up Paul’s letter expecting something nice and Paul tells them they are doing something wrong. Paul is concerned for them spiritually. Paul is concerned that the Galatian church is being mislead. He goes on about the love and promise of God and the things that God has done. Paul talks about the gospel being spread and the Pharisees rejecting Jesus Christ. He talks about the issues with the new Christian church taking on the Pharisee’s ways and being mislead. They were telling new Christians that they had to take on certain Jewish customs, practices and traditions of the Jews. They were telling people if they were going to call themselves people of God then they had to look and act like the Jews. This is not the message of the Gospel and you don’t have to take all these things onto you. This is what Paul was trying to communicate to the Galatians. The freedom in the Gospel was being challenged. To sum it up in one word, it was legalism. Legalism is what was being put on the people. Its a set of rules that say if you are going to be a Christian, you need to look like this. Then they started to list rules. Now the Jews in their tradition had hundreds of rules. Rules about everything like when you could walk, how far you could walk, who you could talk to and what you could and couldn’t touch. What clothes you could wear and how you wore them were under these rules too. They had a rule for everything and had put themselves under bondage with all their rules. It was impossible to keep all these rules so the Jewish leaders used this as a way to lord themselves over all the people. Now Jesus comes along and destroys this whole way of thinking. Jesus says God is interested in whats going on in your heart. Jesus says He is coming to set you free from all of these things. Nobody could keep all these rules. Nobody could keep the basic ten commandments to be right with God. So Jesus said He was coming to make a way where there was no way. Let me give you the way. The way is called Grace. Jesus says to follow Him under this Grace. He said if you are going to love God, you need to love other people. You need to try to do the things God would want you to do. Love other people and everything is under Grace. Paul was fussing at the church because they were putting on this legalism. They were judging people’s Christianity by what clothes they wore, by what foods they had eaten, by their hairstyle and by what jewelry they wore. This was and is nonsense. Paul also said it was wrong to follow these people that were coming in with rules that you needed to be circumcised. These were all outward things and God is interested in what is going on in your heart. In our text verse 1, Paul says it was freedom and that Christ has set us free. Stand firm then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. The basic question Paul is asking is why would you turn back to what Christ has removed. Why would you go after it and put it back on? What sense does that make? Why would you do that to yourselves and others? Jesus came with the Grace and the way to get us to the Father. Believe in Jesus and His grace will cover our sins. Now we and the Father are connected again. Some people said this sounds too easy and they think they will take back the old system. Paul says to not be burdened again. Because without God you are burdened. Without Jesus you are burdened. When we have Jesus, the burden is lifted. Paul says if they take legalism and put it back on, you are saying that Jesus is not the way and Jesus is not the answer. You have rejected Jesus for the gospel of legalism. It is just like on the TV shows when wounded animals are taken in and they are healed, fed and nourished back to health. Then the people take them out to set them free. I never saw on any of these wounded animal TV shows where the animal says No he doesn’t want to be set free. Never saw an animal say naaahhh he wants to go back to his cage. None of the animals turned around even though there was free food back with the animal caretakers. None of them turned around to go back into captivity and bondage. Why would you turn around? We have tasted freedom with Jesus Christ so why turn from it? We, Christians, get ourselves all wrapped up again in sins or burdens. Things were burdensome before and we allow ourselves to get wrapped back up in them again. Addictions, sin cycles, sinful relationships and things we know are not good for us. We walk right back into a trap. And then we do this thing where outwardly, we put these things on where if we check off all the boxes or do these things outwardly, then we are somehow going to be okay with God. I went to church this week, sat there and endured it so I’m good with God. I wore a cross necklace this week so I’m good with God. We put all these outward things on individually and say as long as I do this thing then I’m portraying myself as a Christian. This is the same thing that Paul was talking about here in our text. It is saying Jesus Christ in my heart is not enough so I’ll do these things outwardly and hope they make me right with God. This is not what God asked for. He wants our heart, soul, mind and wants us to live for Him. Period. Be careful. Christ has set us free. In verse 13 it says to not use our freedom to indulge in sins. We should serve one another in love. Love your neighbor as yourself. Don’t use Grace as an excuse to be a filthy rotten sinner for a week and then come back and ask for forgiveness under Grace. This also is a rejection of Jesus Christ and the Lord will not be mocked. What we are saying when we go and indulge in sin, is that we see who Jesus is but we don’t care. We want Him to save us but we still want to do our own thing anyway. This also is rejecting Christ and not making Jesus lord of our lives. The freedom in Jesus Christ is to have the burden and yoke lifted off of you. AMEN1 point

An error in logic in this is some people assume that the woman will automatically feel better after the abortion.Which as I understand, isnt always the case.1 point
-
There has been a rather publicized case here in the US of a 10 year-old girl that became pregnant after being raped. There is no reasonable argument that a 10 year-old girl should be forced to have a baby. This is one of the reasons why an outright ban on abortion is not a good idea.1 point

We are not saved by the law, but by faith in Jesus. Our faith in Jesus causes us to be what the law wants.1 point
-
Thanks to our heavenly Father that the Law was 100% fulfilled in Jesus Christ. That means that it is over. Jesus said, himself, that this is what he came to do. Fulfill it. He wasn't abolishing, but fulfilling it. Some people were saying that he came to destroy Moses - abolishing the law. That wasn't true he explained. Since Jesus did completely fulfill the Law - it's over. The Law could not save or sanctify or glority Why? It was "weakened by the flesh". So says the Bible in Romans 8. Go ahead and try to live by it, but because we are in the flesh - we could NEVER fulfill it. Also in Romans 8, it says that the REQUIREMENT of the law IS fulfilled in us because of Jesus Christ. Why? It says that God sent Jesus to die in the flesh and the Father condemned the flesh in Christ. The requirement of the law is gone for the Christian who lives in the Spirit. Read the first part of Romans 8. It's either the Law or Christ. It cannot be both. And Galatians 3 says that if one is going to live "by the law", that he/she must live by ALL of it and that is impossible.1 point
