  1. 1. When a woe is pronounced, it means severe and painful judgement from God. 2. The Kingdom of Heaven is only entered by faith and humility, not by works of righteousness which we have done. Their rejection of Christ proved that they were devoid of faith and humility. 3. The scribes and Pharisees were attempting to establish their own righteousness through a minute observation of the Law, while forgetting the more important aspects of mercy and justice, and love for neighbor and God. Therefore they would not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. 4. But they were also preventing others from entering the Kingdom by their false doctrine of salvation by works. Therefore they would be subject to severe judgments.

  2. Christmas is what you make it. You can choose to worship Jesus or Santa. Whom you celebrate with it is entirely up to you. If your not celebrating Christ then the problem is with you not with the celebration.

  3. John 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. The thousand years comes AFTER the first resurrection. Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. Montana Marv Many will die also during the thousand years, for they are still flesh, not die just at the end of the thousand years. Man will live a ripe old age to hundred years, inside the kingdom and out. Man will die blessed or accursed, nevertheless he will live to a hundred. Isaiah 65:20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. So all who will live and be born during the thousand years, will be in that second judgement. Anyone who is not written in the Lambs book of life will be cast into the lake of fire. It doesn't say everyone is cast into the lake of fire? This is a mixed final judgement of damnation and salvation.

  4. I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY do not want to close this thread.... consider this me pleading with all involved to stop with the insults... and just discuss it. If this is how we handle ourselves within a group of believing Christians....what kind of witness do we make to those that are not? God Bless, Hip

  5. I clearly did not move on to another subject. I just refused to talk to you anymore. Maybe, since you are quoting something that I included further in this conversation where I quoted scripture in response, which also refutes the claim that I moved on because I have nothing to say. Maybe, you could do me the favor of opening your Bible to provide a response for why the verse that I quoting does not prove the point that I am trying to make. I find that you rarely quote scripture when you respond, and you often seem to think that you are able to call out false teaching. So, if you have such superior knowledge, why don't tell me why this is not an accurate conclusion. From scripture, please. You posted this......"But here is a vers." "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm then and do not let yourselves AGAIN be burdeneded with a yoke of slavery." (Galatians 5:1) This verse isn't even remotely RELATED to all the stuff you posted about Israel. This was supposed to back up your claim that Israel will produce the A/C, are not God's chosen people and are deceiving the U.S. into supporting them. Also that the whole world worships Israel. I'm sorry but that one verse doesn't explain or verify ONE thing you said; in fact, every bit of your claim is unbiblical. It's not my job to post Scripture to back up YOUR posts, Esther. So do you have supporting Scripture or are you just making up your own End Time scenario? I am not campaigning for your vote MG. I am engaging in conversation because writing helps stimulate growth in critical thinking and ideas. Writing is like planting seeds. Some seeds grow. Some seeds don't. I enjoy writing. It is fun for me, and it has been one of the most useful tools to grow spiritually in the last 5 years or so of my life since I started journaling. A message board is like a journal with other people at this point. I am just bored listening to myself. However, I do actually have another scriptural reference even if you don't have one to refute your claim that I am wrong, again. The story of Jonah and whale. Helping Israel is like helping a disobedient Jonah try to go to Tarshish. The nation state of Israel filled with extrabiblical teachings is going to bring us all down with the ship. Although, I am not saying to reject someone in need who is a Jew. But, yes, I do reject the false teachings within Judaism. I think they will harm us all if someone doesn't throw them off the boat like the sailors threw Jonah off the boat and calmed the storm. Unfortunately, today, we are praising these false teachings as though they were some sort of cute thing God's people did, so it doesn't matter. It is like the church acts like a bunch of tourists traveling the Holy Land whenever they hear them. "Wow, Marge, can you imagine how boring the Sabbath used to be with all them laws the Pharisees made back then." "Poor dears." This is how the church acts instead of being a blessing to them by showing them what the errors were so they can understand the message of Christ. It is many of these things that keep them from Christ today, that the American church praises like tourists with loud, tacky shirts, and cameras wrapped around their necks ready to take a pic of a real live descendant of Abraham. Wow!

  7. Thanks Ezra. Yes that's exactly what they did back then. What about now? The scribes and Pharisees were the equivalent of today's Traditionalists -- the Catholics and the Orthodox. "Holy Tradition" has become more authoritative than Scripture, when it is in fact the traditions of men and the traditions of the elders. Because they do not preach the true Gospel, they preach a salvation by good works (including Sacramentalism).

  8. I remember Winston Churchill's quote: "The fascists of the future will call themselves anti-Fascists" It also works in reverse. The anti-Fascists of the future will be called Fascists. Likewise, the anti-Nazis of the future will be called Nazis. It's just another part of Satan's lies and deception as we enter the End Times.

  9. I think that the Pharisees and Scribes, who had it all wrong, were teaching error and keeping those who earnestly sought to obey the Law and sacrifices from doing so properly, Christ was warning them that they would face dire consequences for their actions. The same is true today for those in authority who teach error and inhibit true faith within the Congregation. I'm not talking about, say, those of us here on this forum who participate in discussions on their understanding of scripture, but of those who come here professing a special/unique understanding of Scriptural teachings and try to "teach" them as fact. You can tell those types of individuals because they contend against and attack those who disagree with their brand of "understanding."

  10. This is what I expeienced when I went to dead church services. People who retard the true progress of spiritual growth in others. Jesus even pointed out that John the baptist had not entered into the kingdom of heaven yet. Beware of those who would prevent you from living in the Kingdom of Heaven while your hear on earth. It is about transcendance. We need to rise above. I was a Pharisee in a Fundamentalist Baptist Church until God saved me from their dead ways. Today I gather with the sick and poor who are downtrodden. Those who are ignorant of God but open to truth when they both hear it spoken and see it done. One of the marks of a Pharisee is that they will continually affirm that you cannot actually be like Christ for they cannot so they will be damned if they will allow you too. They traded in their long gowns for suits though just to keep up with the times. Oh how they love to look good in the outside!!! Thanks gdemoss You are so tuned in! My next question was going to be; The NT was not just for them, but for us in our day and age also. Are there modern day scribes and pharisees now? I'm not talking about Jews, but us, modern day scribes and pharisees. The pharisees of the old days were very strict in making sure everyone observed the law, the old teachings. They were superior and in charge. Could it be possible we who are in leadership today are doing the same thing? Blocking the truth from the sheep. If someone comes with a different point of view not popular, do we persecute them in such a way, by shutting them out in order to protect the sheep? An example, JW's are only allowed to fellowship with JW's. If they have the truth, what are they afraid of? Why can't they have any other Christian friends from different denominations? We are supposed to defend with the truth, it's our weapon and every one learns from it, what kind of questions that could arise and how to answer, but they are scared they are going to lose members for doctrine sake. Now what's more important, quantity or quality? I'm just giving them as an example and I can see in most denominations there are scribes and pharisees in today's world who are not Jews, but doing the same thing Jesus warned against, only it's not so obvious.

  13. Montana Marv Not only unbelievers, but believers who were luke warm and did not get accepted in the first resurrection. Revelation 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Also, what about all the remnants of Israel who get brought into the millennial kingdom? They will be flesh, for they will be multiplying for a thousand years. They will have their change also, not immediately when they die, but in the 2nd judgement. Micah 4:2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. I could go on. What about all the gentiles that Israel will teach during the millennium? Many more gentiles will be born during the thousand years and converted because of them. They all have their day of resurrection also, which will be in the 2nd judgement. Zechariah 8:23 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you. Isaiah 61:9 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed. Isaiah 62:2 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.

  14. I believe God is outside of time and creation (this universe). I don't know what point you think you're making. God violating His creative work's framework would be essentially God admitting He made a mistake! My God doesn't make mistakes. I have read your expressions of Who God 'IS' for a awhile now and have come to the conclusion The Bible is not the only authority in your framework of theology... (but) in God's Word is the statement of God that we must use no other material than His Word to build our relationship with Him! 1 Cor 3:11 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. John 1:1-2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. KJV the boundary of hermeneutics is that which is God's Word as written with no fanciful thoughts period... You have defiled your thoughts with many things that are not found in Scripture thinking they are and when asked to clearly show them you do not because they are simply not there... Theology is built only from God's Word and that must be arranged by The Holy Spirit within. a exacting science of hermeneutics: Techniques of hermeneutics[edit]In the interpretation of a text, hermeneutics considers the original medium[12] as well as what language says, supposes, doesn't say, and implies. The process consists of several steps for best attaining the Scriptural author's intended meaning(s). One such process is taught by Henry A Virkler, in Hermeneutics: Principles and Processes of Biblical Interpretation (1981): Lexical-syntactical analysis: This step looks at the words used and the way the words are used. Different order of the sentence, the punctuation, the tense of the verse are all aspects that are looked at in the lexical syntactical method. Here, lexicons and grammar aids can help in extracting meaning from the text.Historical/cultural analysis: The history and culture surrounding the authors is important to understand to aid in interpretation. For instance, understanding the Jewish sects of the Palestine and the government that ruled Palestine in New Testament times increases understanding of Scripture. And, understanding the connotations of positions such as the High Priest and that of the tax collector helps us know what others thought of the people holding these positions.Contextual analysis: A verse out of context can often be taken to mean something completely different from the intention. This method focuses on the importance of looking at the context of a verse in its chapter, book and even biblical context.Theological analysis: It is often said that a single verse usually doesn't make a theology. This is because Scripture often touches on issues in several books. For instance, gifts of the Spirit are spoken about in Romans, Ephesians and 1 Corinthians. To take a verse from Corinthians without taking into account other passages that deal with the same topic can cause a poor interpretation.Special literary analysis: There are several special literary aspects to look at, but the overarching theme is that each genre of Scripture has a different set of rules that applies to it. Of the genres found in Scripture, there are: narratives, histories, prophecies, apocalyptic writings, poetry, psalms and letters. In these, there are differing levels of allegory, figurative language, metaphors, similes and literal language. For instance, the apocalyptic writings and poetry have more figurative and allegorical language than does the narrative or historical writing. These must be addressed, and the genre recognized to gain a full understanding of the intended meaning.Howard Hendricks, longtime professor of hermeneutics at Dallas Theological Seminary, set out the method of observing the text, interpreting the text, applying the text in his book, Living By the Book. Other major Christian teachers, such as Charles R. (Chuck) Swindoll, who wrote the foreword, Kay Arthur and David Jeremiah have based their hermeneutics on the principles Howard teaches. David L. Barr states there are three obstacles that stand in the way of correctly interpreting the biblical writings: We speak a different language, we live approximately two millennia later, and we bring different expectations to the text.[13] Additionally, Barr suggests that we approach the reading of the Bible with significantly different literary expectations than those in reading other forms of literature and writing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biblical_hermeneutics The above is entirely a fundamental response to letting God's Word be formed within a person- so that when one speaks they speak for God's Word and not for the world they are in (traditions) or even their own first born initiatives (fallen nature abilities)... it is a complete congruent work of Spirit and redeemed! Love God's Word enough to do the work that is suggested here in order to be sure it is His Word that is in you... Love, Steven

  15. Concerning the resurrection unto immortality there are three such occurrences. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: [1] Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s [2] at His coming, then comes [3] the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. 1 Corinthians 15:22-24 Being raised from the dead is not the same as being raised immortal. Understanding that helps clear up a lot of end times confusion.

  16. Montana Marv The first resurrection is at the 2nd Coming of Christ. All who have died in Christ, and alive in Christ will be picked up together and quickened. The second resurrection is after the 1000 years, after the battle of Gog and Magog. It's a judgement on every man who was not in that 1st resurrection. All the new converts Christ will make during the millennium, and all the dead from the beginning of time before Christ, and after him who did not know him will be judged here. It's the 2nd judgement, and in that same judgement is another resurrection - those who converted to Christ during the thousand years. Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Revelation 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Sister That is what I thought you were saying. Which I don't agree with (see below). The Great White Throne Judgment is a judgment of all Unbelievers. The books reveal that they are guilty as charged. For they were judged by their works. In Contrast, Believers are accepted by Faith and Grace. Not by works so we cannot boast. Now there is a Resurrection for the Just (called the First Resurrection). And there is a Resurrection for the Unjust (called the Second Resurrection). There is no Scripture that says there is only one wave of entry into the First Resurrection. I believe there are multiple entries for the First Resurrection. [[[For this will allow all those born during the 1000 years which are of Faith to enter into the First Resurrection, the resurrection for the living]]]. (this is where I did not agree with what you were implying). All others will die at the end of the 1000 years when they follow Satan. Free will to follow Christ, and /or free will to follow Satan. In Christ Montana Marv

  17. I feel the need to stay away from labeling entire movements as this or that based upon the doctrines held by some within the whole because there are lost sheep in every place I go under every denomination. I engage at the individual level. Sheep need a shepherd to leave the place they are being fed. Many know that the place the congregate has wrong teaching but they see error everywhere they go and settle for whatever they see is best or they cease going anywhere and isolate at home. Modern day scibes and Pharisees are they who have an intellectual understanding of the text but it has not truly pierced through the heart and caused the heart to become circumsized unto God. These generally will error after the same manner of demanding observance to a set of rutuals that must be practiced to be acceptable to them. They have an overload of traditions to make the word of God to no effect especially the gospel message. Most seek to keep everyone in the dark though they explain that they are bringing you light (they believe it too but are deceived) they are threatened when anyone who is truly born of the spirit shows up and begins to win hearts and attention that they normally get themselves. They see themselves as God incarnate though they really don't know it. They believe if everyone adores them then they are giving adoration to God. They stand at the door of the church greeting people both when they come in and when they leave. Forgive the Father for they know not what they do but rather send more workers out into the feilds to harvest! I confess. I only know these things because I am telling you who I was before Jesus stopped me on my road to Damascus and saved me from a religious death. I repent! I can relate to you, Brother, to some degree I was a Catholic before, so you know what that means.... In my search for God, I myself had looked on a number of denominations, including a cult. Had seen some Pharisees firsthand. I even know a couple of high school acquiantances from a Fundamentalist Baptist Church -- who are now a pastor and his wife. (The woman was once a Catholic like me.) They had visited me some years ago, to try to see if I could join their church. I could not speak for the pastor, but the wife was clearly suffering a religious death. She had gained a lot of weight, (forced to) dressed in their church uniform, and obviously not enjoying her life as a servant of the Lord. What she needs then is someone who can win her confidence then work in her life to help her find Christ and the joy of walking in the Holy Spirit. I pray God prepare such a woman to show her the truth in word and deed. Amen. I am praying with you...

  18. This is really the ideal church. Thanks, Ezra. But I'm afraid that, given the situation of churches today and given my own situation, I don't have the time nor the resources to look for a church that comes close to this. I'd been a Catholic before, and had been hurt badly by a community I was with. Since then I promised myself that the next church I commit myself to will be the right one. My faith is that, since I can't do it myself, God is going to be the one who will lead me to that church. So Acts 2:47 is really comforting.

  21. That is a great question, but I don't have a answer for this, that's why it is in Gods hands and not ours to make it happen, for we do not lean on our own understanding ,but on God who is able to do all things, I think ,that since we come from all walks in life and back grounds, that we in our part who ever we are and where ever we be, we are the ones carrying the message to others, in this type of ministry, I also believe that when jesus told us that by the measure we are given is from what we will deal with as individuals, so if you know more then you are accountable for much more, but if you are not as aware then you are only accounted for the little, I think the bible tells us that if we knowing the word , by the level we have obtained is by what measure we will be judged. but it would be great, to have all come to a agreement and one spirit and one common ground ,in lifting up our lord and savior, but we have the spirit to share ,and the knowledge to teach and the word that we tell people every day , and so we are as salt sprinkled in the world trying to do our part for the kingdom is at hand , and time is short, and the truth be told.

  25. Shiloh, Up until very recently (possibly the 19th century) all that Christians had was the Bible itself, without reference to any cultural norms or quirks of other ages. And they followed the teachings of the Word -- men with uncovered heads, women with covered heads in worship and prayer. And had it not been for Modernism, the Beatles, the Hippies, the New Age Movement, Feminism, and other winds of doctrine which swept across North America we would not even be having this discussion. So what you are talking about (Corinthian culture and history) was never a part of Bible teaching. This is extra-biblical information, which may or may not have any bearing on the subject. If I were to do a line by line exposition of this passage of Scripture (1 Cor 11:1-16) I would be able to show that this teaching is the teaching of the Holy Spirit for all ages and for all times. Otherwise since every generation has its own cultural norms, we would need a brand new Bible each time fashions changed. This same idea about cultural norms is being used by so-called "evangelical feminists" to promote the idea that women should be pastors and teachers and take authority over churches "because what Paul said was for the 1st century, not the 21st". However, the Word of the Lord standeth forever, and is forever settled in Heaven.

  33. For those who need a solid biblical understanding of a true Christian church, God has already given us a blueprint (Acts 2:36-47): CHRIST IS PREACHED, AND HIM CRUCIFIED 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS SINNERS THROUGH THE GOSPEL 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? REPENTANCE AND FAITH ARE PREACHED FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS AND THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. SALVATION IS FOR ALL, WHICH IS THE MESSAGE TO ALL 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. THE WHOLE COUNSEL OF GOD IS PREACHED, INCLUDING SEPARATION 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. THOSE WHO TRULY BELIEVE ARE BAPTIZED IMMEDIATELY 41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. GOD HAS A PATTERN FOR THE LOCAL CHURCH 42 And they continued stedfastly in (steadfast continuance) the apostles' doctrine (Bible doctrine) and fellowship, (fellowship with believers) and in breaking of bread, (the Lord’s Supper regularly) and in prayers. (corporate prayers) THE LOCAL CHURCH HAS AN IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. UNITY OF THE SPIRIT IS ESSENTIAL 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; SHARING OF ALL THINGS IS ESSENTIAL 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. DAILY WORSHIP IS ESSENTIAL 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, REGULAR SALVATION OF SOULS IS ESSENTIAL, BUT IT IS GOD WHO ADDS TO THE CHURCH 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Given the topics she has posted lately, I am curious what type of doctrinal background she has. It is not designed to trap anyone, or do anything other than help me understand the point of view of this member. IMO the OP can be summarized by saying that there is a global tendency in religions to follow the broad way to destruction, and how important it is to be able to know where to anchor. General cliche's like 'Jesus loves' all of us, and 'the gospel is what we follow' does not cut it, because every blasphemy comes under that guise as well. There has to be a clear division between those who serve God and those who pretend to. What is it?

  39. A true Bible church will be a New Testament church (see the pattern in Acts chapter 2) which proclaims the true Gospel and the whole counsel of God, but makes no allowance for the traditions and false teachings of men. The main goals of such a church will be: 1. That God is glorified in all things, and all things are done decently and in order 2. That Christ is exalted above all things, and that He the actual Head of the church 3. That the Bible alone is the sole authority for all doctrine and practice 4. That souls are saved regularly and that the saints are edified continuously 5. That worship is in Spirit and in truth, and not in rites and rituals 6. That the Royal Priesthood of believers is practiced, and each one fully exercises their spiritual gifts.

  40. We should also remember that Jesus called them "hypocrites" who were inwardly as "ravening wolves" who devoured widows houses, and excused the breaking of the Law through their traditions (e.g. by dodging their responsibility to parents). They were essentially false teachers who were misleading others, and we have those all around us today. That's why Christ said that we are to beware of the leaven (doctrine) of the Pharisees.

  44. Welcome AforementionedPerson, "Omnibenevolent" is something you have coined, but infinitely gracious and merciful would be more apropos. What you are attempting to do is delve into the Mystery of God, and there are limits to what we can determine with our human capacity. God knows all and sees all, and He is also infinitely gracious and merciful. But He also allows sin and evil to exist on this earth "for a season". Your faith should not waver simply because you cannot grasp what only God can grasp. Your focus should always be on the Lord Jesus Christ and what He accomplished for your redemption. That is the only way to have a steadfast faith -- focus on the Cross and what it meant to God and to the whole world. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself.

  45. You are correct Rick. Pleas step up, Rick and bopeep, and help out Ezra, if you can. Or any others of you that teach this doctrine. Rick is a good teacher.I will pass this off to him. Again, bopeep, if you can't explain it yourself, don't teach it.

  46. The just shall live by his faith. It is trusting in God daily and depending on His promises. It is walking after the Holy Spirit to do the works prepared for us before the foundation of the world. It is being full of the Spirit of Christ and allowing Him to live out His life through us. It is displaying the fruit of the Spirit to the world that hates us, the needy and the sick.
