  1. I am going to ignore these accusations of judgment against me being told I am ignoring scripture and all of that. That is not what this topic is about. It is about what is the right translation of the verse. I for one would like to have an adult discussion on the topic without being judged and scrutinize from others about how well I follow scripture in my life. Now can we all do that?

  2. Welcome Widori! Yeah, not everything we might want to know is given to us. What we are coming up to in this next part already, is the flood, where the world population, will be whittled down to just 8 individuals again. Interesting to me, is that all the variation in the world population, comes first, from the genetics/DNA of one couple, and then again, from a second couple, Noah and Mrs. Noah!

  3. Did anyone ever consider what it might have been like to have something like CNN during WWII? "Banzai" is just a friendly greeting . . . "Sieg Heil" means "we love everybody . . . " Of course, back then CNN wouldn't have been too popular since American journalists actually rooted for Americans. I guess they were just funny that way. Blessings, -Ed

  4. Hi AscendedMaster333, I think that you are looking the wrong way round. You are looking at yourself and that is sinking sand. You/ we all need to look at the saviour. Now you ask, how on earth do I do that. Well, you get to know Him as you do other people, a step at a time. Go about your day, doing your everyday jobs, and when you least expect it something will be highlighted to you. Could just be something in nature, or what you just read, or what someone said, but as you reflect on it , then it will be opened up to you. You learn to appreciate this person, Jesus, His character and His works, (nature, us etc). As you grow to appreciate Him you realise that you can trust Him more, and life becomes an adventure with Him, learning of Him, and how He works in your life to change you. An amazing process. regards, Marilyn.

  5. I don't know, if these were regular days as we think of them now, then things might be slow in other ways as well: When Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he became the father of a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth. Now, for a man, who was supposed to be fruitful and multiply, he did not seem to be in much of a hurry, are we suppose to think that Adam and Even had a fertility issue, lacked intimacy, practiced abstinence for a season or what? I am not inclined to jump to any conclusions in the first chapters of Genesis, either literal or figurative - true is, I do not know, and I doubt anyone else does. A rule I try to follow is assume things are literal, unless compelled to think otherwise. I think there is room here to allow grace to those who differ from us in interpreting these things, even if I grant that it might not be literal, I am not compelled to accept ideas like, "these days were thousands or millions of years each. Symbolism and metaphor, does not require extremism either. I did pontificate on this age (of the earth - primarily) thing a long time ago, in a blog entry.

  9. 22 Then Enoch awalked with God three hundred years after he became the father of Methuselah, and he had other sons and daughters. 23 So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. 24 aEnoch walked with God; and he was not, for God btook him. This is probably a silly question/comment and I'm sure I could think up the answer myself but for sake of conversation. I find it interesting that Scripture states that Enoch walked with God but it doesn't state that any of the others did so. Did they not? Was he the first to that point to genuinely follow God?

  10. Amen~! As I See It Sooner Or Later Now I say this, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption. Look, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this corruptible will have put on incorruption, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: "Death is swallowed up in victory." "Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord's work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:50-58 (New Heart English Bible) All Believers Will Be Taken Up By God But we don't want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don't grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left to the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with God's trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first, then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (World English Bible) Love, Your Brother Joe

  11. Whatever it means, it is significant enough that God "took him." He is the only person aside from Elijah who has not actually died (that we know about). The only other person that I know having been said to have "walked with God" is Noah and God saw fit to save only he and his family from the flood. Good clue to this can be found in Hebrews 11:5, and it has everything to do with faith: Heb 11:5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, "AND WAS NOT FOUND, BECAUSE GOD HAD TAKEN HIM"; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Enoch was also a prophet: Jud 1:14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, Jud 1:15 to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him." It's pretty significant and certainly worthy of contemplation that Enoch was prophesying about false teachers (see Jude 1:3-12 for context) and the the Lord coming with His saints around 5000 years ago as well!

  16. Hello AscendedMasters 333. What Neighbor and Marilyn C said are powerful replies. Two important points made are: 1) Intellectuals, no matter how intelligent they deem themselves, will not understand God/Jesus if they do not know him. Human intellect only works for the purpose of MAN (meaning human). God does not think the way MAN does. 2) Only God/Jesus can save us. MAN can give you techniques, ceremonies and practices, but none of this will give you a clear understanding of GOD or guarantee you being SAVED. God and Jesus, have given us The Holy Spirit and through this Holy Spirit, we learn of Jesus and God. As an adult or an intellectual adult, the biggest problem with trying to connect with God/Jesus/Holy Spirit, is that we can not seek The Holy Trinity with an open mind as a child would. A child's mind from birth is void of MAN'S teachings, sins and corruptions. It is an empty vessel waiting to be filled with Knowledge. When we seek God we must learn to empty ourselves of human knowledge, and allow God's teachings to fill us. You have the Holy Spirit with you. God has his hand on you. This is why you are seeking him. Now you only need to empty your MAN intellect and let God fill you with his Knowledge. An example of MAN intellectuals vs Jesus is in the Bible. Jesus and the Pharisees. Pharisees had their knowledge but lacked The Spirit and Knowledge of God. Blessings in your journey.

  18. Hi zorgblar, God (Father, Son & Holy Spirit) is omnipresent, everywhere by His Holy Spirit. (Amazing) God has not created the earth New yet, however He will do it. What He says goes, if you know what I mean - He is omnipotent - all powerful. God made `time` which is a process of decay. He upholds everything by His word - great power, so without that we (the earth) would spin out of control in the universe. God is omniscient - all knowing, so He knows what will happen, as well as planning and controlling the process. He does not go back & forth in time, however He knows what will happen and involved in it. God, is God and beyond our limited understanding. However in this life time and into eternity we have the privilege of learning more about Him, His character and His purposes. regards, Marilyn.

  19. 1. God is omnipresent and is everywhere all the time. How? Because He is God. 2. God can go backwards and forwards in time. He can go to the New Earth. But the book of Revelation tells us it is not time for us to be present on the New Earth yet. 3. Question: "Who created God? Who made God? Where did God come from?" Answer: A common argument from atheists and skeptics is that if all things need a cause, then God must also need a cause. The conclusion is that if God needed a cause, then God is not God (and if God is not God, then of course there is no God). This is a slightly more sophisticated form of the basic question “Who made God?” Everyone knows that something does not come from nothing. So, if God is a “something,” then He must have a cause, right? The question is tricky because it sneaks in the false assumption that God came from somewhere and then asks where that might be. The answer is that the question does not even make sense. It is like asking, “What does blue smell like?” Blue is not in the category of things that have a smell, so the question itself is flawed. In the same way, God is not in the category of things that are created or caused. God is uncaused and uncreated—He simply exists. How do we know this? We know that from nothing, nothing comes. So, if there were ever a time when there was absolutely nothing in existence, then nothing would have ever come into existence. But things do exist. Therefore, since there could never have been absolutely nothing, something had to have always been in existence. That ever-existing thing is what we call God. God is the uncaused Being that caused everything else to come into existence. God is the uncreated Creator who created the universe and everything in it. https://www.gotquestions.org/who-created-God.html

  22. Rather than giving a series of theological propositions, here's my story. I grew up in a family that regularly attended church. As a kid, I believed God existed, mostly because I just sort of took it for granted. When I was 12, our church was having a series of Wednesday night Lent services before Easter. One night, we had a guest speaker. I really don't recall much of what he said. All I remember is that I was sitting with the rest of the youth group fidgeting like a typical middle schooler. At the end of his message, he asked a couple questions that completely captured my attention. I don't recall them word for word, but the gist was this. How do you know God is there? What's going to happen when you die? I remember immediately having a sudden realization that my "belief" in God was really just hoping that everything I'd been told was true about Him being loving and going to heaven when we die. I was faced immediately with an uncertainty that I was hoping this stuff was true but I had no way to know if it was true. I vaguely remember some sort of altar call and going up to talk with him after the service. I cannot recall exactly what he told me. I only remember that he led me in a simple prayer, something like "God please forgive me and come into my heart." As a practical matter, I'd done many responsive prayers as part of congregational response readings, I'd read some prayers here and there. I had probably said and prayed words similar to these many times in church already. There was really nothing special about that prayer he led me in. As far as I know, there wasn't anything very special about my state of mind and emotions. I really wasn't expecting anything. I just had a sense I was supposed to be talking to him and I just did what he said. But as I said that prayer (not really expecting anything), I suddenly felt a warm presence inside me. It's hard to put into words. It was just suddenly a sense that yes God was there. I went from hoping God was there to feeling Him in my heart. This was not some wild emotional manipulation, it was a quiet environment and I wasn't expecting anything to happen. As I've gone through life, I've seen some things that I simply cannot explain rationally. In my late 30s or early 40s, I was in a Sunday morning church service with a guest speaker. At the end of the message, he issued an invitation for people who wanted prayer to come up. I didn't have anything in mind, but simply felt that I was supposed to go up for prayer. He prayed some short generic prayer over me and in that instant a couple of phobias and a long-term addiction went away. From everything I've read and know about phobias and addictions, they do not typically just go away like that. In one short time of private prayer, lasting perhaps 10 or 15 minutes at most, God performed a huge change in my life. I had been bound by a couple lies from the enemy that had been affecting my entire life (though I was not aware of it). During that time of meditation and prayer, God let me see a part of my life through His eyes, and I was instantly set free from a bondage I didn't even realize was there. Within the next month, my wife and teenage daughters were all commenting on how different I was. I once had a shoulder injury where I could not lift my arm any higher than about level with my shoulder before it hurt badly. This went on for a few months and at an annual physical my doctor thought it might be a torn rotator cuff since it happened suddenly. I had a couple people pray for healing at church; nothing happened and it felt the same. However, after that, over a period of a couple of months, it simply got better and I now have full motion with no discomfort and full strength. Was it actually a torn rotator cuff and healing or just something else? I'm not sure, but I know people who've ended up in surgery with similar symptoms. I was once driving a car that lost control on ice headed toward a drop off by an entrance ramp to a highway. I prayed a quick "God Help!!!" prayer, felt a stiff bump as if I had hit something, and had the car change direction straight to where I wanted to go. I sort of dismissed it as having hit a curb or some type of physical obstruction. The next time I went past that location in the day light where I could see clearly, I realized that there was nothing there to stop a car or even slow down a car. The pavement smoothly transitioned to a dirt shoulder to grass and on down the hill. I have no physical explanation for the bump I felt or why I didn't go sliding off the road and down the hill. (I have a PhD in physics so I know how to analyze that type of event.) I've had other things happen that I simply cannot explain except as divine intervention or revelation. I have many friends who are Christians who've told similar stories of what God has done in their life. These are not every day occurrences that happen on demand. Frequently, they are events where God just showed up in His timing and did something (which was often unexpected) where there was a need. None of us are really anything special spiritually speaking from the standpoint of having amazing faith or piety or righteousness. It's just that this seems to be what God does. He's active in the lives of His children. Over the years, my faith has moved from primarily "convincing myself particular things I am supposed to believe are true" to being primarily trust and confidence in God Who has been active in my life. Often, God does stuff in ways I did not expect and at times I did not expect it. But over the course of over 40 years, that warm presence inside me that I first felt as a kid has been with me. I have seen His hand of guidance and protection at various times. I have felt His presence and comfort in rough times. My trust and confidence now rests on God and Who He is. Trust and confidence in someone is something that grows over time. We simply do not "trust" someone when we first meet them because we don't have a track record to know them. I think it is similar with faith in God. Faith is not simply a binary thing we either have perfectly or do not have at all; faith (or trust and confidence) is something that changes and grows over time. When I was first a Christian, I used to want to see some huge miracles or divine signs to "boost" my faith, thinking that if only I could see something miraculous that it would somehow make me into a better person and be able to have stronger faith and that that would somehow sustain me spiritually for the rest of my life. What I've come to learn over the years is that being a Christian is about being transformed. It is about having God's Spirit living inside of us (which is what I sort of describe as that warm sense of God inside me) and changing us. It is about that daily walk where I simply became more and more use to and comfortable with God's presence in my life. It's perhaps ironic, but I've seen things that I can only describe as miracles occur in my life and in the lives of others, and and they did not have the effect on me that I expected. They did not boost my faith so much as they made me aware of God's love. I now see them more simply as part of God's gifts to His children, not as a means to "believe more". The key I see is that it is all about our relationship with God and getting to know Him. We often try to come closer to God through our own strength and efforts. We try to learn the right facts to intellectually agree with. We try to see something miraculous so that we will have evidence that God exists. We try to change our behavior on our own (as if being a Christian is the ultimate in new year's resolutions). We basically make a religion out of trying to find God. However, God wants something different. God wants to draw us in so that He can live inside of us, change us into the person He created us to be, and so that we can walk with Him and know Him. Instead of walking beside us physically, He has chosen to live inside of us spiritually. When Jesus was talking to His disciples at the last Supper, He said that it was better that He was leaving the disciples because the Holy Spirit would then come. (See John 16) At the time, I'm sure that the disciples thought having Jesus right there at the table physically with them was better. But Jesus said it was better than He physically left and the Holy Spirit come spiritually. In my opinion, this is the most important thing about Christianity. God wants to live inside of us and change us into new creations in the image of Christ. It is not about stoking up our belief so we have no doubts; it is not about figuring out what rules to follow and doing so to the best of our ability; it is about God coming into our hearts, taking up residence, being present in our lives, and transforming us. This is not something we do in our own efforts. This is something God does. From our standpoint, we need to recognize that we cannot do it on our own and that we must depend on Jesus Christ as the only way God has appointed for us to eternal life as His children. Anyway, this is a summary of what I've seen God do in my life. I've heard similar things from other people but each of our stories is different to some extent. God has made us unique individuals and the specific way He comes into our lives and draws us to Himself is often unique to us. Some people respond to God at church during an altar call, a good friend of mine was given a gospel tract walking across a university campus, sat down before class and read it and surrendered his life to Christ, some people hear the gospel from a friend or over the radio, some people respond the first time they hear the gospel message, others resist it for decades, some people seem to find God the first time they become aware of their need for Him, others seem to strive and struggle for awhile and have something unique to them that God wants them to give up or deal with. I have no answers for why except that God wants to walk with us as the individuals that He created us to be.

  31. Hi AscendedMasters333, It is God`s job to `save` us, and our job to get to know Him. You want Him to be talking to you as you think He did to those in the Old Testament. Now if you read God`s word (as I hear you say) you don`t see God talking to people everyday in an audible way. Yes there were special times for special reasons, however most people lived daily lives mostly knowing what was right and wrong. We today are most blessed for we have the Lord`s Holy Spirit within us (if we have invited Him into our lives). He will guide us through our lives and help us make the right decisions, and the right behaviour towards others. Of course this is a life long process and you/we will certainly know when we make mistakes for the Lord will highlight that to us - not to condemn us but for us to see "Oh that was not right, sorry Lord, help me to be more humble and .....forgive, change attitude, etc..." Walking with the Lord is not for the faint hearted, but become strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. ie, learn to overcome those fleshly desires of our selfish selves. regards, Marilyn.

  34. I think the original post is a prime example of the very thing it is attempting to address. The full passage has many teachings and to point out only part really opens it up to misinterpretation. Some see it as Jesus being stern. Others see it as him showing compassion. Part of what is not shown, is how he states NKJV John 8: 14-16 " My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going. 15 You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. 16 And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me." We tend to complicate what is already plainly stated in scripture. Some believe to approach with "hugs and kisses" others believe in harshness to get a point across, or the word across. These are "Man's" take on how we should be. The complete chapter of John 8 shows us how Jesus walked and how we should be in our walk to be Christ like. Jesus was compassionate to all. He was stern to those He knew needed it. He could discern between the two. We, need to tread lightly because we are full human and lack the knowledge he possessed/s in his judgement, if he judged/s.

  35. There is one way to Jesus: Repent=decide that you hate your sin life and turn to God to forgive you. Receive=accept that Christ died for your sin so that your can be forgiven, clean in God's eyes, and able to stand before Him. He took your punishment that you deserved. Rom 6:23 WEB For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Ask God to forgive you and receive His son into your life. Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name: Joh 1:13 who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Surrender to God in thanksgiving for all He has done for you. Give Him all of your life, and He will give you His life.

  37. The whole reason for Christ's death was to present his own blood on the mercy seat in heaven, the propitiation for our sin, so that we can come into God's presence as sinless before Him. Ask God to cleanse your heart. Only the new man, the new creation, goes to heaven. Heb 10:14 For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. Heb 10:15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying, Heb 10:16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them: ‘After those days,’ says the Lord, ‘I will put my laws on their heart, I will also write them on their mind;’”then he says, Heb 10:17 “I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more.” Heb 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, Heb 10:20 by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; Heb 10:21 and having a great priest over God’s house, Heb 10:22 let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water, Heb 10:23 let’s hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful. Rom 4:5 But to him who doesn’t work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness. Rom 4:6 Even as David also pronounces blessing on the man to whom God counts righteousness apart from works, Rom 4:7 “Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Rom 4:8 Blessed is the man whom the Lord will by no means charge with sin.”

"You're sharpening the sword, and they are cutting each other," the unknown man added while pointing at the congregation. ...................................................................................................................... i dug deeper still and thought i really need to know if this is for real his thinking and teaching . so then i come up with clip from the horses mouth itself. 3.John MacArthur OUTRAGE: Take the Mark of Beast, still be saved. 40. The very twelve the Apostles failed to comprehend God before them in the flesh. They failed again and again in their own faith. So why will any of us be superior to them? It was not until Jesus conducted his famous forty day Bible school that any of them began to understand what it means to be Jesus and to be of His flock shepherded by Him, secure in eternal life because of Him, secured in the works of fully God fully man the first fruit of many to come. It is not the faith of any man that saves any man, it is the faith of Jesus. His mercy upon failing and flailing mankind is the anchor that never ever has failed to hold firm to God the Father's command. No man has done that save perhaps two that God has found perfect in his sight. God is not irrational, Jesus' faith is not misplaced, no matter how weak the faith of any person Jesus is fully sufficient in his grace and mercy to carry the day eternally for all that have been given Him by his Father. It is His faith and love of His Father that I cling to, and not any work or any sense of faith in myself. For I am truly flawed, a deliberate sinner against God, saved only by Jesus and found cleansed, white as snow, washed in the sacrifice that is Jesus. Jesus is more than sufficient to get me through my weakest days of sadly limited or doubting moments and many lapses of character unbecoming a saint in Christ. He just never leaves me exposed to my shame as the sinnner that I am. He bares wounds of my failures so that I may have eternal life with God the Father, with God the Son, and with God the Holy Spirit. He loses not a one! So I have no fear that even my weakest day will defeat His grace and God's mercy upon me. The Holy Spirit indwells me that I may be turned about again and again to further sanctification that matches better my complete justification that came from Jesus entirely in a moment of awareness brought about by the Holy Spirit as He made that specific call to me- repent an dturn about from sin against God. The Spirit suffers me greatly but he too is faithful to His mission his service to God the Father's command to Jesus. Just as the triune nature of God is a bit above my paygrade of responsibility and capacity to understand, so is the awesome power of God to wash me white as snow so that He may abide me, and me in Him. That does not make the triune nature of God irrational, it just makes it beyond my full comprehension.

  41. It was a blatant trap 1) They didnt bring the man as was required by the law of Moses. 2) If Jesus had said dont stone her, theyd have discredited him by saying he contradicted Moses butv had he said stone her, theyd have reported him to the Romans as Rome didnt allow the Jews to execute people witihout its permission (thats why Jesus was taken to Pilate)

  42. If I may intercede here. Romans 8:16-17 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. You can see through many other verses that we are children of God, not God Himself. Just as we are a spirit, and His Spirit is in us, we are not Him. We still have our own spirit to deal with.

But paul nor any other ever claimed to be THE CHRIST . alice baily and so many oprahs and kennys seeing themselves as GOD. that needs to cease asap, or be found in wrath ON HIS DAY they will. You all be blessed now .

  46. Depending on what you mean by "womanizer," it might be time to end the relationship. Adultery can be a reason for divorce, especially when it happens multiple times.
