  1. Copied and pasted this post of mine from another thread... Just wanted to write down my thoughts right now on the insomnia I am dealing with....Larry 2 , I am hoping you will see this and possibly respond. You are one of the few people who has ever been able to understand when I share this journey. If you don't see this then I suppose it will work as a journal for me. It is always helpful to look back and see how we have grown. My insomnia started when my daughter went through a suicidal period a few years ago. She is gay and atheist, and whenever she has a breakup the fallout is just devastating. Every breakup seems worse than the last, and she barely survived the last one. She isn't a dramatic person and so by the time I hear about it, things are pretty bad. She has been dating her current girlfriend for over two years and recently moved in. They are moving out of state to attend the same graduate school. And my daughter has been talking more about her depression and anxiety. So I imagine I am likely to have to go through this again in the future. When she became suicidal, I apparently was trying to control and prevent the suicide by praying too hard. And so I started jerking awake. Eventually after she improved, I became afraid of the insomnia. I tried so hard to fix it. I made myself really, really ill doing that. A counselor said to me that what God wanted from me in this was to try not to fix it or figure it out. I am so much improved from last year. But I am hurting badly today and the last few days. This ironic thing has happened where I am afraid to try to fix anything (thinking God wants me to apply this lesson in other areas!) or else I will not sleep. But the very act of not trying to fix thing ends up being me trying to fix the sleep. One of the major things I try to work on is my health struggles. But then I become afraid that working on it is costing me sleep, and so I think you can imagine the vicious cycle I get in. I try to remind myself that I do believe that God wants to fix this but there is something more important for me right now than sleep. I just feel like such a failure at understanding what He wants from me in this. I want to sleep so badly. And yet I believe He loves me and is doing this for my good... Anxiety will sometimes hit me during the day. Usually, ignoring it turns out the best. I don't always know why it hits, though I suspect it is usually fear about not sleeping. Sometimes I try to think if I have tried to problem solve my heath issues or other things too much and if that is the source of the anxiety...always hoping I can stop doing something if it is producing anxiety in my life....Then I become afraid to do things thinking I will make my sleep worse. I never know whether I might be trying to fix something and that causes a problem or if I am actually unconsciously trying to fix the sleep.... I think probably when I am afraid to do something then I need to do it anyway because the fear is really just about the sleep. I don't know... A few months ago, I would sing my favorite Christian songs when I couldn't sleep or sometimes I would say a verse in my head.....but it made things worse. I suspect I was unconsciously trying to fix the sleep just as I was trying to fix my daughter's struggles with prayer. So now I have to stop myself whenever I start to sing at night. It's just such a nice distraction from thinking, but I guess it is me trying to fix the anxiety which always makes things worse! So then I get upset and I often ask God to take control of my thoughts. He usually pulls my mind off everything and then I usually get 6 or so hours of sleep. This probably sounds completely crazy!!! I am thankful for any encouragement you might have...This is such a difficult journey and just when I think it is about to end then things get worse again... 2. Shalom everyone, In this life, we're facing an enemy on a daily basis, and when we forget that we are in the midst of a war, then you'll soon find yourself facing -- the deadly D's. So what are the deadly D's you may ask? Discouragement, Discomfort, Dissatisfaction, Distraction, Disappointment, Disgruntledness, Disruption, Disillusionment, Disqualification, Dispossession, Disturbance, Distortion, Disunity, Destruction, Deception, and finally Doubt. While I'm sure there are many other Deadly D's that I haven't mentioned (feel free to add this list), we have to remind ourselves that we're fighting a war and it's not some distant war -- but rather in our day to day lives! When Paul said, Eph 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. The word that Paul used for the word Wrestle was a word used to describe hand to hand wrestling! In ancient Greek culture, two wrestlers had no rules in the ring -- and fought until the end -- in most times ended with one side dying. If you decided to leave the ring -- the loser had his eyes gashed out! So it often ended with death! We are in a hand to hand battle -- with an enemy that fights with no rules -- trying all he can do to destroy you. But there's something we MUST always remind ourselves of -- We have the victory continually! 1Co 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives (present tense of the greek word) us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. So this could be translated -- But thanks be to God who continually gives us the victory through our Messiah! Are you continually walking in victory? If not, perhaps you need to recognize you're in the midst of a battle -- in hand to hand combat! Learn the tactics of the enemy -- what he's trying to do -- then fight -- in hand to hand combat and continually CLAIM YOUR VICTORY CONTINUALLY! Don't let the enemies tactics of the Deadly D's to influence you -- be an influencer of change! Your brother in the Lord with much agape love, George

  3. By Michael Youssef, Ph.D. George Müller, an esteemed evangelist and prayer warrior of the 19th Century, was once asked, "What is the secret of your victorious life?" His answer was simple. "It was the day I died, utterly died." As he spoke, Müller bent down until he reached the floor and then continued: "Died to George Müller - his opinions, preferences, tastes, and will. Died to the world - its approval or censure. Died to approval or blame - even of my brethren and friends. Since then I have studied only to show myself approved unto God." Until you learn to die to self, you will live your Christian life in defeat. Until you learn to die to sin, you will live in bondage. Until you learn to die to pride, you will live in slavery and servitude. If any believer feels defeated, it is because he has bought into the lie of believing that Satan has invincible power over him. As a child of God, you do not need to be in bondage. James 4:7 commands: "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." When James says, "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you," it does not mean that you are standing in the battle arena and being beaten. Rather, it is a picture of a general who has defeated his enemy and calls out to his officers to clean house. Your commanding general arose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is at the Father's right hand - with angels, authorities, and powers in submission to Him (1 Peter 3:22). When you are joined with Christ, you have the same authority. You can break out of bondage. You can give up a sinful habit. You can be freed from any addiction - by the power of Christ. Prayer: Lord, when Satan attacks me with lies, reveal Your Truth to me. Transform my mind to think on Your goodness, mercy and grace. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. "In Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority" (Colossians 2:10). Amen to this ,I Christ we have brought to fullness and there is nobody who can snatch us out the hand of our heavenly Father because we belong to Him. How blessed are we if we can claim those promises: 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. "Pause, my soul! adore, and wonder! Ask, 'Oh, why such love to me?' Grace hath put me in the number Of the Saviour's family: Hallelujah! Thanks, eternal thanks, to Thee!" Do we grasp where we were called out? Psalm 40:2 For the choir director. A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. 2He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. 3He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the LORD.… Amen and all glory to God the finisher of our faith: Hebr.12:4 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

  4. Tribulation has been with the church since its birth at Pentecost. The believers suffered at the hands of its own people. They were scattered at the hands of Saul. They were persecuted and slaughtered at the hands of Roman emperors until Constantine Even today they are murdered and tortured in the Middle East and other countries. So tribulation has been with us for two thousand years not a 7 yr thing the pre tribulationists want to call the tribulation period where they say second rate believers will suffer the antichrist and the wrath of God for seven years. In Daniel 9:27 it states And he (the antichrist) shall confirm a covenant for seven years between Israel and its enemies, but in the mist of the seven 3 1/2 yrs he shall commit the abomination of desolation at which he shall declare himself to God. So if you have paid attention to what I have stated you will see the church has been under tribulation since its birth up and until the abomination of desolation 3 1/2 years after the 7 yr peace confirmed by the antichrist after which is the time of great Tribulation under the power of the antichrist who seeks to destroy the Church of Jesus Christ from the earth using what is known as the mark of the beast whereby one swears loyalty and honor to him as god. So two thousand years tribulation and 3 1/2 years great tribulation. Don't be slow walked by Pre tribers. They manipulate the tribulation period and their false security.

  5. Just thought I’d start a topic on a subject that should be asked in modern day churches. who believes in revival? I for one believe that if your church is Holy Spirit filled and lead by the lord, revival can happen. But the hunger has to be strongly wanted, prayer isn’t strongly encouraged and backed up also. I just feel like we should be wanting a fresh move of GOD, and it can come spontaneously through the move of the Holy Ghost. what better way than through revival? .

  6. Cast your net into the waters. The lord has given us a net to cast. The souls of men are perishing. All around us are ones who need us to cast the lords net. Jesus told peter to cast his net into the lake. Peter said we have worked all night and we have gather no fish but nevertheless i will do as you wish. The net return more then full. The net was ready to break. Its only Jesus who can and will fill our nets with mens souls. But we musr be like peter and keep casting. He cast alk night at the end the lord filled his net. The lord yearns for the lost souls. And needs us to help him in this task. Pray and cast in faith in Jesus working power and his love for souls.

  7. ‘For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me. What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.’ (1 Cor. 9:16-19) Praise God! * This wonderful spirit manifested by Paul is the only spirit in which the gospel should be preached, don't you agree? * This 'dispensation' or 'administration', committed to Paul was binding upon him. He was bound in the Spirit to accomplish it, for it was no self-chosen appointment. * Peter also manifested the same spirit, in (1 Pet. 5:2-4) :- ‘Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, .. not by constraint, - but willingly; .... not for filthy lucre, - but of a ready mind; ....... Neither as being lords over God's heritage, - but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.’ * This was not the only 'dispensation' or 'administration' committed to Paul, was it? (see Ephesians 3:2-9 and Colossians 1:24-29), carried out with the same spirit, to the glory of God the Father, in Christ Jesus the Lord, by the power of Spirit of God (Titus 1:3). Praise God! Thank you. In Christ Jesus Chris

  8. One mark of spiritual maturity is noticing yourself finding less significance in the things here and more in the things There. The more we understand that all things which are provided in this life are only to teach us of our eternal relationship with God, the less we will be too mindful of them because the things of Heaven will be that which gradually fills our hearts and minds more than the things here! Knowing our permanent relationship with God is all that is needed to sustain us to be in unbroken gratitude unto Him, esp. during the trials, which is where His love is greatly manifested in “conforming” us to the image of the Lord Jesus (2 Cor 3:18; 1 Jhn 4:17) in this life! When we trust that He prearranges everything that occurs in this life for our “good” (Rom 8:28 – primarily for the good of growing in our faith—NC), we can be “in perfect peace” (Isa 26:3) and progressively grow in confidence in Him by always “casting all your care on Him, because He cares for you” (1 Pet 5:7). Mission Accomplished “And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of My people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey” (Exo 3:7, 8). I find that my Father has a purpose for me—to bring me out of one place and into another. The prodigal’s place is in the Father’s house though, as to himself, he may not have come upstairs yet; and that is the case with most saints. I may not have reached it yet (i.e. know you’re in the purpose of the Father—NC), but I know the desire of my Father’s heart about me. Saints often make their necessity the measure of God’s action for them. It is true that my necessities are met, but this is never the measure of my Father’s action for me. If we make our necessity the measure, we never get beyond it. We shall not be able to glorify Him if we only take what we need. “Ye have not because ye ask not.” According to your apprehension of the truth is the measure of it that you receive: “Unto everyone that hath, it shall be given, and he shall have abundance” (Mat 13:12). Though united to the Lord Jesus in heaven, there as your “Life” (Col 3:4), you must yet know what it is to be in the place where He is (in my opinion, to be there now in position is to know the inevitability of being there eventually in presence—NC). What many want is to get the Lord down into their own circumstances (which would defeat our representation of His presence there—NC); but you must find Him in the place where He is. It is true that all the sympathy I need, I meet with from Him in my circumstances here. But the only thing that will satisfy my heart is being in company and fellowship with the One who has won my heart; in order to enjoy a person you must be in the place where that person is, with the Person who dwells there. Really I am There through grace; I have been quickened together with Christ; that is my possession in life. But, now comes my possession in practice. I am rising up to the place where my Father has positioned me in the risen Lord Jesus, who sits at His own right hand in glory. It is just as much the grace of God to put me into heaven as it is to take me out of hell. People think that because they have this position in gift (Heaven—NC) that they therefore have it in practice; but many a man has property who does not know how to use it; it is not the fact of having possession of it that ensures your enjoyment of it. “The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting” (Pro 12:27). I say it with grief in my heart, that where I find a great deal of intelligence about the truth brought out in Ephesians 2:6, there is often very little heart about it. I have sometimes said to people, “Did you ever lose a night’s rest trying to get hold of you heavenly place?” There is nothing to me sadder than the way in which saints will allow that they have not got it (the assurance and peace of it—NC), and yet the little earnestness they show in seeking to get it. Let it be the place that you seek—seek as hid treasure. “Where you treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Luk 12:34). I do not put your own benefit before you, because that is not the thing; but I do say, nothing here should satisfy your heart, because nothing will satisfy your Father’s heart, but your being able to come before Him and say, “I am come into the place which my Father has given me; the Lord Jesus Christ is the One who has brought me in; I delight in the One who has done it; I lay my basket down before Him, and worship the Lord my God. - J B Stoney Excerpt from MJS devotional for May 30: “Our Father disciplines us that we may be more fully free from the old nature, and find everything in the Lord Jesus. But He begins the lesson with the assurance, ‘I love you perfectly. “I bring you into the desert to learn what you are, and what I am; but it is as those I have brought to Myself! He gives us a place with the Lord Jesus, but then shows us what He is and what we are. The discipline of the way teaches this; but if He, in His love, strikes the furrows in the heart, it is that He may sow the seed which shall ripen in glory.” – JND http://www.abideabove.com/hungry-heart/

  9. Do not be deceived, there are only two possible states: Belief or Unbelief. "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes." - Romans 10:4 The Scriptures are clear of the existence of these two states, and depending on what people are believing in it will be reflected in their lives. "You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?" - Matthew 7:16 One cannot believe in the truth and do works from deceit, for example. "You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe - and tremble!" - James 2:19 "If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth." - 1 John 1:6 There is only one source of absolute truth: God (The Father, The Word, and The Holy Spirit). "For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one." - 1 John 5:7 If people believe in the truth, they will naturally produce fruits from the truth. "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me." - John 15:4 If you are questioning: "You said Word, where is the Son Jesus Christ?!" "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." - John 1:14 There are only two types of fruits: Bad or Good. Also there is another type of fruit, the one that appears beautiful outwardly, but inside is full of death, deceit, and all uncleanness. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness." - Matthew 23:27 People in this group includes those who say "Lord, Lord", profess faith in Him but does not care in doing what is pleasing in His sight: To believe and to practice the truth. "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." - John 17:17 "For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." - John 1:17 Such people are living in deceit, as they do not submit themselves to the Lord. And prefer to believe in the lie: Walk in darkness, practice willful sins and justify themselves instead of repenting and to seek a holier life and truly walk in love and truth. "I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." - Galatians 5:16 These are the fruits of unbelief, as they do not believe the Lord can sanctify them, and prefer to live as they please. "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." - John 14:6 When the Word of God clearly states that such is possible for those who believe in The Son: "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." - John 17:17 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32 "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin... ...Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." - John 8:34+36 Another common thing that is discussed is when someone who once professed faith in Christ but now lives in sin. They are in unbelief, and this is a fact. If they were founded in Him they would not fall in such state. "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock." - Matthew 7:24-25 The Lord commanded us to watch and pray... "And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!" - Mark 13:37 "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation..." - Mark 14:38 If we fall, He is there to take us back... If we believe. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." - 1 John 1:9 Another common thing that is discussed is when someone simply says: "I will put an end to my life". To commit suicide is not an idea that is coming from the Spirit of God... And those who believe in Him would never do such a thing. "This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all." - 1 John 1:5 But what indeed happened and the reasons: by accident, murder or by willful rebellion against the truth. "For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways." - Psalm 91:11 It is not up to me to judge... But if it was willful rebellion against truth then it means the person died an unbeliever. "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all." - Psalm 34:19 "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." - Romans 12:21 "...Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life." - Revelation 2:10 And another common thing that is discussed is when someone claims to believe in Him, but lives in rebellion against Him. No one who believes in Him, in truth, sincerely... Will seek to practice evil. If they do, they repent, and sincerely seek not to next time. If they can... "If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death..." - 1 John 5:16 "...There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that." - 1 John 5:16 "All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death." - 1 John 5:17 Do not seek to practice evil, and flee from it... This pattern is one of obedience to the truth. When the person says: "I will just sin and do whatever I want... I am sinner and cannot stop sinning!" This clearly is willful rebellion against the truth, pride of their sinfulness is preventing them to receive the words from The Truth. "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." - John 17:17 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32 "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin... ...Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." - John 8:34+36 This is one of the reasons why the Lord Jesus said why it will be so hard for "the rich" to enter heaven. "...How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!" - Mark 10:23 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 5:3 "for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." - Romans 14:17 Because it is too hard for them to accept, believe and consequently be obedient to the truth. "You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." - John 15:14 Unless they stop justifying themselves and repent indeed instead of insisting in their evil ways, they will all perish. "Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God..." - Hebrews 3:12 "For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth." - 2 Corinthians 13:8 "...unless you repent you will all likewise perish." - Luke 13:5 And to die in unbelief is never a good option... The elect, the true believer will keep believing in God till the end; and consequently through all eternity. But there are three types of believers: Those who believe in the truth, and consequently practice it. "But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." - 1 John 1:7 Those who say they believe in the truth, but do not want to practice the truth. "If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth." - 1 John 1:6 "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world." - 1 John 4:1 Those who openly believe in the lie. "Now “If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?”" - 1 Peter 4:18 What kind of believer you are is up to you to choose. And we all know that walking in unbelief or deceit is never a good option. "Thus says the Lord: Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord." - Jeremiah 17:5 And the Lord desires that we believe in Him, His Words, and consequently do them. "...not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." - 2 Peter 3:9 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." - James 1:17 Or do we think we have something better to do?! "And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve... ...But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." - Joshua 24:15 As the Lord Jesus said: "...Take heed that no one deceives you." - Matthew 24:4 Yes, and this includes ourselves; our evil flesh that is full of deceit and all uncleanness. God bless you all in Jesus' name! Amen.

  10. Good thoughts there Willa, and I agree. lunarose, the Lord`s focus is to make us like Christ. This involves us looking at the next thing/attitude highlighted in our lives by His Holy Spirit. Too often we have been told, "God wants to give you this and this, and dream your dream etc." But God is not into any of that. Learn to see what God is focussed on and not what you think He has promised, as most often it is our own imaginings. Marilyn.

  11. I don't trust things that foretell the future. Too often my own desires get in the way and I don't want to hear what God is really telling me. So if something was predicted that didn't come to pass, it simply means the prophecy was false. Don't listen to it again and ask God to forgive you for trusting in it. Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. But don't let it throw you into confusion. God is not the author of confusion. It is a learning process. God is so patient with us.

  13. Shalom Lazar, First of all, I want to welcome you to WCF! If you need anything just ask! Secondly, as far as video games are concerned -- if you have a conscience objection to playing the game -- that's a warning -- and you'll have to discern if it's something that you should avoid. As far as "selling your soul" due to a Terms and Conditions -- I wouldn't be concerned with this. However, I would be concerned though that you don't know for certain that you're in the Kingdom! The gospel message is simple -- Repent -- which means to turn from your sins -- and believe -- which means to utterly entrust your soul -- that Jesus died, rose again, and in Him alone, you can find the forgiveness of sins! May the Lord grant you His peace -- the peace that passes all understanding -- so that you may find rest for your soul! If you have any more questions, there are a great many solid believers on the forums! God bless, George

  16. (Worthy News) - New scientific findings published last week might be compelling enough to change popular beliefs surrounding the evolution of species, Phys.org reported. A genetic survey conducted by scientists Mark Stoeckle from The Rockefeller University in New York and David Thaler at the University of Basel in Switzerland examined five million gene snapshots called “DNA barcodes.” The barcodes, collected from 100,000 animal species, including humans, revealed what came as a shock to the researchers: nine out of 10 species on Earth today — humans included — came into being around 100,000 to 200,000 years ago. Stoeckle, lead author of the study, explained in the journal Human Evolution that while the popular biological belief is that species with large, long-standing populations (e.g. ants, rats, humans) would become more genetically diverse over time, the reality is that genetic diversity has been “about the same” for hundreds of millennia. 18. 'I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. ‘ (1 Tim.2:1-2) Hello @LadyKay, I appreciate what you have to say, and agree that justice is not always done. However, if we do what is right, and are injustly treated, those who commit the injustice in regard to us, are answerable to God for it. Whereas, if we do not do what is right, the blame is all ours, for we have broken the law of the land, and must receive just punishment for it. The verses above ask that we pray for those in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, in all godliness and honesty. This was written in days during which believers were being covered in tar and set alight, or placed in the arena to face wild beasts, suffering persecution from family as well as state, so perhaps it is a prayer we should also make for those in authority in this day too. 20. “C” should be “ believe in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus” Confession is great but is not alluded to in Paul’s Gospel ( 1cor15:1-4 ) thAt saves if simply believed and not added to with such things as last second, lucky repentance —- Jesus shed Blood is inadequate to cover all sins—pray to have enough wits about you between your final sin and your death to say a rapid prayer for repentance of tough sins the “ weak, inadequate blood” just couldn’t wash away.NOT!!!

  21. Shalom, Willa. That's not right. PLEASE take the time to investigate the CONTEXT of a passage before assuming what is being said in a particular verse! I prefer the King James Authorized Version of the Bible because it keeps the "thee's" and "thou's" intact. Luke 17:20-25 (KJV) 20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. 22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. 23 And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. 24 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. 25 But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation. The Holman Christian Standard Bible says, Luke 17:20-25 (HCSB) 20 Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God will come, He answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming with something observable; 21 no one will say, ‘Look here! ’ or ‘There! ’ For you see, the kingdom of God is among you.” 22 Then He told the disciples: “The days are coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you won’t see it. 23 They will say to you, ‘Look there! ’ or ‘Look here! ’ Don’t follow or run after them. 24 For as the lightning flashes from horizon to horizon and lights up the sky, so the Son of Man will be in His day. 25 But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation." First, the Greek word "entos" can mean "within," but it may just as easily mean "among." Context determines which would be better. Second, one of the greatest reasons for adhering to the King James Authorized Version is that it KEEPS the "thee's," "thou's," "thy's," "thine's," and "ye's" in the Bible. They provide information about the English text that is lost in all other English versions. In the King's English of 1611, they provide information about case and number: The singular forms of the second person are... Subject: thou Object: thee Possessive Adjective: thy Possessive Stand-Alone: thine The plural forms of the second person are... Subject: ye Object: you Possessive Adjective: your Possessive Stand-Alone: yours Of the second-person pronouns used still today, only the last three plural forms are still in use and refer to both the singular and the plural, and the "you" can be used as both the subject and an object of the sentence. So, when you see the word "you" in the KJV, you must remember that it is PLURAL in number! If the text is only talking to an individual, the word "thee" would have been used instead. Third, notice in the context to whom Yeshua` is talking! He is being asked BY THE UNBELIEVING PHARISEES! Would Yeshua` really be saying that the PHARISEES would have God's Kingdom "within" them?! Of course not! He's NOT saying that each one of them already has the Kingdom within him (or her); He's saying that these Pharisees AS A GROUP already have the Kingdom of God AMONG them! How? The Kingdom of God comes with the King that God provides! While the King (Yeshua` Himself) was present among them, they had the Kingdom among them! If you have the presence of the King, you have the potential for the Kingdom; no King, no Kingdom! It's just that simple. So, please don't use that verse to suggest that the Kingdom is a "spiritual," non-physical kingdom. Frankly, the Kingdom will be a LITERAL, CONCRETE, SUBSTANTIAL Kingdom that will exist during and beyond the future Millennium. Just as Yeshua` the Messiah is real and literal and substantive, so the Kingdom will be real and literal and substantive.

  22. Hi NM, and thanks for your instructional reply! Amen, everything Christians do that is according to God's pleasure is from Him "working" it in those who are reborn (Phil 2:13). This leaves nobody reborn apart from this permanent "work." God bless!

  27. Romans 15:13 - "May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing -- through the experience of your faith--that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope." HOPE IS A DIVINE DREAM. IT'S AN INNER IMAGE THAT'S BIGGER THAN YOU ARE BECAUSE IT'S BUILT ON THE PROMISES OF GOD. Example: IF THE DOCTOR TOLD YOU THAT YOU WILL NEVER WALK, THEN YOU SEE YOURSELF CLIMBING MOUNTAINS AND BRINGING THE WORD OF GOD TO HURTING PEOPLE. YOU FIND IN SCRIPTURE(ISAIAH 40:31) WHERE IT SAYS THOSE WHO WAIT ON THE LORD SHALL RUN AND WALK AND NOT FAINT OR BE WEARY. YOU LOOK AT IT UNTIL YOU SEE NOTHING ELSE. PICTURE YOURSELF WALKING FOR MILES AND RUNNING FROM ONE PLACE TO THE NEXT, TELLING EVERYONE - JESUS HAS RAISED YOU UP AND MADE YOU WHOLE. Affirmation: I TAKE THE WORD OF GOD AND BUILD VISION .......NOW! Psalm 37:4 - "Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart." Matthew 13:3,8 - “Behold, the sower went out to sow; And others fell on the good soil and *yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty." It takes spiritual eyes and sensitivity to discern the movements of God in our everyday lives. Sometimes His words come as a whisper and His movements like a gentle breeze moving through the branches of our lives, but as we seek first the King and His Kingdom by CONFESSING and MEDITATING on His word we will discern His voice and His faithfulness through each day. We must trust God with the seeds that He plants in us. His words over us are wrapped in His faithful promises and never-ending love. They require the softness of our heart to grow deep roots and break through the ground of faith so that they will manifest in the earthly realm. We cannot demand how God grows the seed or when it will move from the soil of faith to the visible realm. We must allow the roots to go deep so that when trouble comes, our seed will not be plucked up while still in its tender beginnings. Matthew 24:45 - "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household?" The word tells us that God shows Himself strong in behalf of those whose hearts are "perfect" toward Him (2 Chronicles 16:9). "Perfect" doesn't mean that we have to do everything just right and live without making a mistake. It means "devoted" -- a heart consecrated, dedicated, loyal and faithful to God. Who is faithful? The one who spends his time doing what God has called him to do -- or as Jesus put it, the one who takes up his cross and follows him. The one who denies his fleshly desires and spends his life on the things God desires him to do. AFFIRMATIONS: I am a faithful and wise servant. I find out what is stealing my time from the Lord. I take up Jesus' thoughts today. I take up His purposes and plans. ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY http://afministry.ning.com

  29. I see you have quite the good spirit when it comes to those who like to turns things around, I know you were not meaning yourself all throughout your post or even you, but as you can see and I have seen much of that kind of thing on Christian sites it's not even funny. people love to point out flaws or it's like they have blinders on so they drum up things people are not saying it's quite complexing how Christian people love to do that it boggles me indeed. be wise like a serpent for when you are trying to be positive others don't like it and create negatives when it's not nesscessary to do so.

  33. Source: http://deceptioninthechurch.com/worshipsongratings.html#c I do not believe Mark Hall and the other writer intended this to be a worship song sung in Church. But more of an outreach to those of us who feel we are not good enough, not fully realizing that grace covers ALL sins to those who seek Jesus and the redemption from sins He brings. Jesus will not turn His back on us, nor will one of His sheep be lost. He is the Good Shepherd.

  35. I appreciate it Debp...but when I read that statement like that, I usually feel like a failure because I have tried and still don't sleep. I assure you I have tried. I even went so far at one point as to stay incredibly busy and avoid thinking about it. But that was me trying to unconsciously get sleep, and all that happened was to build an incredible amount of anxiety from avoiding dealing with what God was trying to teach me. It is just an incredibly difficult thing to explain to anyone who hasn't been through it. It is a surrendering to His plan for me no matter what difficult thing that might mean for me...whether is is watching my children suffer and possibly losing one of them or insomnia or whatever He allows into my life... I recently watched a Henry Cloud video about anxiety. He said anxiety IS. It is part of the human condition. As Christians we often make it a moral issue....A recent sermon from our pastor was that if you had anxiety, you were either sinning or didn't have God in your life..(these type of things are the reason I was in a healthier body!!). I have been studying Job recently after listening to a Rick Warren sermon where he pointed out that Job had fear in his life....Job 3:25 says "What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me." That has really, really made me relate to Job much more as a human being. He was afraid of losing his kids one day. That is why he was always sacrificing for them if he thought they could have sinned. Maybe he was trying to protect them from God's wrath in case they had secretly "cursed God in their hearts." It just made me see Job differently. One of my frequent prayers has been for God to take my fears. But He doesn't want me to be afraid of insomnia either!! I did sleep 8 hours last night for the first time in many months even though I was somewhat afraid as usual last night. But hopefully God will completely heal me soon. I feel freer than I have in a long time. He is just growing my trust that I can face anything with Him. I am learning so much about how sovereign God is through this. It is an incredibly difficult journey meant to grow me in trusting Him!!

  36. I think God reminded me again last night to just know that no matter what happens I will be ok. Yesterday was rough. After church I just wanted to stay in bed and cry all day. I knew that was a BAD idea. So I asked God to help me get through the day. And there were some really good times. I think it grew my faith again to see how God will help me even when I don't sleep. I think I need to just ignore my fears about other things interfering with sleep. It just leads to a never ending cycle where I am overthinking everything. I think God wanted me to know when my daughter was suicidal that I couldn't control it, and that if she went through with it then He would help me through it...that I would be ok with Him beside me to take care of me. It's funny that I entitled this thread "Need Advice." I really don't want advice on this topic...I am hypersensitive about it and going without sleep has only increased that feeling. It is such a hard journey for anyone to understand. Myself included. Most of my family can't be supportive on this journey. They just think they have the answers to fix it. I know they don't want me to hurt anymore, but their advice just feels like criticism. Even when I tell them that the counselor has said don't try to fix it, they try to fix it. Thank God that my husband knows he can't. He has been very supportive.

  38. Well, the first thing I would have to say is that Christianity is definitely NOT all smiles and roses for everyone, no matter what age group. Even in marriage there can be a loneliness there you don't see, including among those whom you currently think may have it all together. Loneliness can be characteristic of even the greatest servants of God on occasion, so what you want is to let that loneliness drive you into even closer relationship with the Lord. And certainly don't view yourself as some sort of outcast from the Lord's servants, because I can promise you that's not the case. If anything, it means you are in very good company. Here. I found a brief article that might help. I won't cite the entire thing, but the beginning reads as follows: "Every now and again in times like these, I think of the prophet Elijah, anxious and fretting in a cave, so depressed he could barely eat. He was fleeing from Queen Jezebel, who sought his life. As Elijah looked to his beloved Israel, he saw a rather discouraging portrait of fellow Jews who were either too confused or too fearful to resist the religion of the Baals required by Jezebel. He seems to have felt quite alone. Perhaps he was the last of those who held the true religion, or so he thought and felt. In the cave, Elijah pours out his lament: And there he came to a cave, and lodged there; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 10 He said, “I have been very jealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the people of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thy altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away” (1 Ki 19:9–10). And But God will have none of this despair or complaining, and says to Elijah: And the LORD said to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, you shall anoint Hazael to be king over Syria; and Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint to be king over Israel; and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint to be prophet in your place. And him who escapes from the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay; and him who escapes from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay. Yet I have seven thousand in Israel, that have never bent the knee to nor bowed to Baal, nor kissed him with the mouth” (1 Ki 19:15–18).

In it the former Hindu guru turned Christian pastor indicated that the hardest people tovreach with the gospel are the long time church attending individuals ie people who go to church all that life but never actually get saved. what what you think
