  1. A Jewish person does not cease being a Jew when he accepts Christ any more than you or I cease being American or Canadian etc .. they just become Messianic Jews.

  2. Have you ever been so busy desiring to do for others (admirable and honorable in its proper place) that its undertaking has often inadvertently reduced your time of fellowship with them, which detracts from keeping up with knowing them? We all continue to change in our lives concerning what we evaluate things to be, e.g. something we determine as important now may not be as such latter, or maybe even become more important, thus requiring us to keep up with one another as to what our desires are. Of course God never changes, but the depth of knowing Him more— which is only through His Word—will ever continue, and the more He teaches us to know Him, the greater will be our success in “being about” His “business” (Luk 2:49). Continuing to read God’s Word and asking Him for more understanding of it initiates and perpetuates “drawing close to God” (Jam 4:8) more than all other things, and the closer we get to know Him, the greater we get to serve Him. The object is to put wanting to know Him better (Word-time) before wanting to serve Him more. FYI: I’ve learned that that continuing to read and re-read the Scriptures, God causes increased spiritual growth. The majority of the spiritual growth truths lie within the Pauline Epistles, and I’ve found that just returning to where you left off well aids a persistent and life-long reading in the Scriptures. NC Know To Grow “That I may know Him” (Phl 3:10). It is of the greatest importance for the Lord’s own to recognize fully that, above all other things, His object is that they should know Him. This is the all-governing end of all His dealings with us. This is the greatest of all our needs. It is the secret of strength, steadfastness and fruitful service. The primary objective of the Father’s dealings with us is that we may know His Son. This explains all our trials, sufferings, perplexities, weaknesses, predicaments, bafflings and pressures. While the refining of the spirit, the development of the graces, the removal of dross are all purposes of the fires, yet above and through all is the one object—that we may know the Lord. Our minds are so often occupied with service and work; we think that doing things for the Lord is the chief object of life. We are concerned about our life-work, our ministry. We think of equipment for it in terms of study and knowledge of things. Soul-winning, or teaching believers, or setting people to work for the Lord, are so much in the foreground. Bible study and knowledge of the Scriptures for efficiency in the matter of leading in Christian service as being the end in view are matters of pressing importance with all, and this is all well and good, for these are important matters (in their proper order); but back of everything the Lord is more concerned first about our knowing Him than about everything else. It is very possible to have a wonderful grasp of the Scriptures, a comprehensive and intimate familiarity with doctrine; to stand for cardinal verities of the faith; to be an unceasing worker in Christian service; to have a great devotion to the salvation of others, and yet, alas, have a very inadequate and limited personal knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself (all of which is best after entering a sufficient knowledge of Him—NC). So often He has to take away (halt—NC) our work that we may discover Him more. This is the one thing that will remain when all else passes. It is this that will make for the permanence of our ministry after we have been taken Home. While we may help others in many ways and by many means so far as their earthly life is concerned, our real service to them is based upon our knowledge of the Lord Jesus (our knowledge is directly related to our fellowship, where we can be in union with Him but not necessarily in fellowship, even though we may be occupied with service—NC). We want instructions and commands; the Lord intends for us to have a “mind.” “Have this mind in you” (Phl 2:5); “we have the mind of Christ” (1Co 2:16). The inspired statement is that “His anointing teaches you concerning all things” (1Jhn 2:7). We are not servants, we are sons (Gal 4:7). There is an appalling state of things among the Lord’s people today. So many of them have their life almost entirely in that which is external to themselves. Personal, inward spiritual intelligence is a very rare thing. To know the Lord in a personal way means steadfastness when others are being carried away—steadfastness through times of fiery trial. Those who really know Him do not put forth their own hand to try to bring things about. Patient confidence is an essential and inevitable fruit of this knowledge, and in those who know Him there is a quiet restful strength which speaks of a great depth of life. In the Lord Jesus Christ “are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden” (Col 2:3), and the Father’s will for us is to come to an ever-growing realization and personal appreciation of Him in “Whom all fullness dwells” (Col 1:19). - T A S Excerpt from MJS devotional for December 27: “Let no one imagine that he can be effectively used in the Lord’s service, or even make progress in the Christian life, without some measure of real entrance into the valuable principle: ‘When I am weak, then am I strong’ (2 Cor. 12:10). It is absolutely essential in forming the character of the true servant of the Lord Jesus. Where it is not known and felt, there is sure to be unsubduedness, unbrokenness, and self-occupation in some form or other. On the other hand, where one has been brought into this principle, there will always be a measure of brokenness, softness, and tenderness of spirit; and not only so, but also largeness of heart, and that lovely tendency to rise above those petty, selfish considerations, which so sadly hinder the work of God.” – C H M http://www.abideabove.com/hungry-heart/

  3. Good one WordSword. John 15 is a favorite of mine and helped me from the start. As I abide as a (grafted on) branch, in Christ the true vine, much fruit is produced. This glorifies the Father, (our goal) who is the vine dresser/pruner. He removes all the unnecessary parts of me that do not bear fruit, so there is less ME, and more Fruit. What I then discovered is, when I abide, it is no longer I, but Christ in me. I have been crucified. I relate to what you have written above. Now, considering work, I think differently. I enjoy helping others, to the point of asking each day that God would send someone I could be a blessing to, however, He decides. I don't think of it so much as 'my works'. I try to maintain the idea of' I don't work for Christ, but allow Him to work. Through me. Not I, but Christ.

  6. If you close your doors to those in any form of error that is not a salvational issue -- then how can you possibly recover them? Do you know how many times I"ve dealt with Preterist's and after 20 minutes of talking their eyes are really BIG and they GET it! It's not difficult to do ... you just need to know how to do it!

  7. The holy spirit begins to work in your heart. You no longer want to hang out with the same old crowed that did anything for kicks. They treat you like you just became a goody goody but you don't let these things sway you because the Lord showed you the truth. Paul said the things I once loved I now hate and the things I hated I now love. Jesus said blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled. Blessed are those who are persecuted for my sake for theirs shall be the kingdom of heaven. Jesus taught that when we pray we should pray in our prayer closet where only God will reward us. We should want to have time with God alone every day. By this you know you have the Holy Spirit in you.

  9. To me, by far the greatest gift from the Spirit is discernment. To be able to discern what God is telling us in His word. To be able to discern when men are telling us a lie. To be able to discern what is the right action to do right now. This has been the greatest benefit to my life. And we can never say we have enough. For there is more to discern that we haven't discerned yet. I pray Lord help us to know God's righteousness Paul And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not Me, saith the LORD of hosts. 10. There is no greater love than for one to die for another, just as George quoted. Please let me add my own take on that kind of love, as it pertains to the passages of the New Testament in fulfilling the lessons of the Old Testament: Love is not for self, it is always for others at real cost to self. Love is not dependent upon reciprocity, instead it is absolutely independent of it, as it must be, for if it requires personal gain it is merely a purchase not a gift and not love. To require reciprocity of one's affection and sacrifice is to sell, or even to prostitute, and is not to love. The saint in Christ Jesus loves God, but not for gain, instead in spite of all loss. The saint does walk the extra mile doing the required demands of even an an enemy so that another's burden to do it may be lightened or escaped, and also so that the enemy may have to spend more time with a saint and hear as well as see the gospel of Jesus in play. Love counts all disparagement, all trial, all burden as joy; for the burden is carried to glorify the Father through acknowledging His Son our Lord Jesus.

  11. Matt 22:15-22 15 Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to entangle him in his talk. 16 And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone's opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances. 17 Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?" 18 But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, "Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? 19 Show me the coin for the tax." And they brought him a denarius. 20 And Jesus said to them, "Whose likeness and inscription is this?" 21 They said, "Caesar's." Then he said to them, "Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." 22 When they heard it, they marveled. And they left him and went away. ESV

  16. Hi all, Had the fine privilege and personal pleasure of attending the Christmas program at the Cove, Ashville, North Carolina, featuring Fernando Ortega. My sweet Texas peach and I are Ortega groupies I guess. Of course it was scheduled for the Friday night of the predicted incoming winter storm of the century to hit SC. NC. GA. and VA. We were staying at the Cove, and were told during the Friday evening worship concert by Fernando that we would all have to leave the mountain early Saturday. We must all get off the mountain by 10:00 AM. that by noon the mountain will be too dangerous to be on and all their staff must get off of it by then. State Parkways and national forest roads had already been closed in the area. Well whoopie. I had planned to drive across State to the TN. border on the backside of Hiawasee Lake stay there a few days and then drive through Georgia to South Carolina to Greenville and fly home from there. Hmm, what to do? Can't seem to escape the path of the storm. So, I decided we go on with our plan and drive to the cabin we had secured for the visit (The cabin owners had texted us that if we get trapped at the cabin they will not charge us for an extended stay- kinda of funny, if not encouraging). Everywhere we went the roads were clear, the storm hardly existent, and we had a grand time of retreat! Drove on clear clean roads through snowy white SC. and GA., having had no issues whatsoever from this so called storm of the century. Kept seeing TV's weather channel people hyping it, but it just wasn't where we were whenever we were in the areas. We had a wonderful time, even went through the Biltmore estate at evening with all the Christmas decorations and music. I do so love what I have come to know of North Carolina residents. They tend to end every conversation with, may God bless. Best of all though was that we got to share the stay at the Cove and the concert with my cousin and her husband, a nice reunion of sorts for me. The adventure set the stage for a worshipful time all through this advent season. Thank you Lord. I do hope and continue to pray that each of you have some memories building about this Christmas that will help lift you during the coming year, as God allows, for each day's adventure.

  18. That is wonderful sister . I got an all out unction to remind us all of something . I want us all to start spending even more time reading and or listening to the bible . it will give us good ammo , specially in the days ahead . Just listen to it often sister . In fact we can even have lil bible studies too . And just bask in the truth that the SPIRIT inspired in those true men who wrote those letters , and in the gosples and all the holy scrips . We are going to need a well fed diet of that bible . Oh let us feast on it . For how it surely feeds and instructs us , that we be thoroughly furnished unto all good works . And in the days ahead we must know and understand , that deception will only get worse and only abound . BUT let us who HAVE all our hope and affections set on Christ above Only rejoice in the LORD and read more , pray more , and encourage and warn more . You loved dear sister .

  19. Shalom, iamlamad. First, I know that Yeshua` left this earth to build for us a place, and that place is the New Jerusalem - Yerushalayim haChadashah; however, John 14:1-3 doesn't say that He comes back to take us there! To the contrary, Yeshua` said that He would come again, receive us to Himself, and "where I am, there ye may be also." He doesn't specify where He will go next in this context, but His heart is ALWAYS in His native Land, Israel. Second, I don't appreciate your comment, "If you don't wish to go to heaven, I am sure Jesus will oblige." That's petty, my brother, and it's unbecoming of a child of God to say. It takes a heart different than that of the Messiah to think that statement is funny. Third, while there are "three heavens," those "heavens" are described in 2 Peter 3:3-13 far better than in the idiotic formula "first heaven, of clouds; second heaven, of stars; third heaven, God's abode." Peter said, "first heaven (and earth), before the FLOOD; second heaven (and earth) after the FLOOD and before the FIRE; third heaven (and earth), after the FIRE." And, this matches John's statements in Revelation 20-22. When we are resurrected at His Second Coming, we shall be entering the last one thousand years of the second heaven (and earth), this CURRENT heaven (or sky) and this CURRENT earth! Then, after the Millennium, shall occur the Fire and Yeshua`s enemies will stand before the Great White Throne Judgment. It is not until AFTER the GWTJ that God will re-form the sky and the earth, having gone through the Fire, and make the New Sky and the New Earth. It's not until AFTER God re-forms the sky and the earth that the New Jerusalem shall descend to the New Earth, descending out of the third heaven (or sky), and landing upon the third earth. We don't go "to Heaven"; in the snatching away, we shall go THROUGH the "heavens" - THROUGH the "skies" - to Israel to aide the Messiah in retaking His Land and helping Him to satisfy His urgency, His zeal, in rescuing His people from the invasion of the surrounding nations!

  20. Yes/No. First, I do not look for people to correct. I have enough of my own sin to deal with. I rarely if ever try to correct someone I know or suspect to be lost, not born again. I do not expect the lost to act like a Christian, or believe it would help. I would instead share the gospel with them. So NO. Concerning correcting a Christian, God says to remove the log in my own eyes, (the one that is blinding my eyesight) before I point out the splinter in the eye of someone else. If I'm harboring sin, then I'm not led by the spirit, So I would not be qualified. So NO. So, I have to be right with God, abiding in the spirit, when confronting someone. I need to be convinced I'm led of the spirit. And even then, I have to do it as the bible instructs. Whether a child, youth, older or senior, each is different, as scripture instructs. It has to be done with total lack of any wrong motives, and in a serious desire to help. I will be sharing Light. I do not like to confront, but am instructed to, as a brother, led by the responsibility laid upon me. The few times I have, I first explain of my own dealing with the same or similar sin, and how God enabled me to overcome. Trying not to put them on the defensive, but let them know I'm on their side, and they had better confront me if/when I need it. I think there's a good reason why God says; Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5;16 So, brothers, maybe.... **A good example to consider if you feel qualified. When correcting one of my children once, I was informed that the very thing I was correcting him for was learned by watching me......... ... Take heed, brother. I shouldn't be upset that I can't make others what I wish them to be, when I can't make myself what I need to be....

However , Geroge , you seriously need to take the very last thing you said , OFF. Cause a no rapture postion , That is serious error and deadly . We are supposed to be watching and waiting . Thus a preterist , IS a deadly belief. As for mid , post or pre trib . I try and reason this out . 22. Let every man , woman at worthy , start over fresh on our bibles . Let the pure truth of those holy scrips scrub all minds that contrary men may have instructed . Let the first love , the first faith , be surged into all hearts . For many men have twisted things . But I tell us and remind us all, what man has made crooked GOD will make straight . What man has made cloudy , GOD will make plain again . I am pleading with us all , begin afresh , read the bible more than you ever have . Love and embrace every word , which is only for our own good . I do want to mention something . Sister IN HIM , YOU ARE dearly loved sister . The love you have for the LORD , is a love that only encourages and rejoices the heart . Because I have noticed something . WHEN folks LOVE GOD , it don't matter how grave truth is said , or if its a warning , or an encouragement . IT JUST REJOICES THE HEART and those who love the LORD , embrace truth and have no desire to resist it , FOR THE LORD has truly given them the desires THAT PLEASE HIM on their hearts . YES , its high time the all out focus be put back where it belongs . ON THE ONE who has saved us and can keep us from falling . Thus let none offend HIM in word or in deed , but just live by the power of His grace , which works inthose who are HIS , the things pleasing in HIS SIGHT . AND SIN AINT . GOD would never call us to love people to their own death . AND leaving folks in sin and saying all is well , its murder and it sure aint love .

  23. I believe it's not something to wonder or guess about. According to Paul, as I see it, it's a" given".Built into with our Christian conscience, as it were. Although non-Christians also have a conscience, distinguishing right from wrong, morally or ethically, nevertheless to the Christian specifically, Paul writes "9You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righreousness11...he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you."(N.I.V.Rom 8:9-11) But we must always make sure that we remove a lot of "junk" that crowd our lives and leave very little "parking space" for the Holy Spirit's voice to guide us; for example "Do not get drunk on wine which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit."(Eph 5:18)

The more joy we have, the closer we want to walk with Him. It does seem that, one is the food of the other. Than only sin or disobedience can spoil the crop. Blessings, Much love in Christ, Not me

And trod HIM under foot for an all inclusive God . It wont bode well in the time which is to come . Cause our GOD don't change . And he not likes this image of HIM getting sold to the masses , the image which provokes HIM to utter jealously , anger and wrath to come . I know , its not the message you gonna hear from hardly a soul these days . 30. The 613 laws of the OT were the laws I was referring to... If you are a saved Christian, one who believes the Gospel of 1 Cor15:1-4 , the only Law you are under is to love your neighbor as yourself. We now have something better than an external Law, beating us over the head with guilt and condemnation. We have an internal force inside us now that will lead us to a life that pleases God.As they say... “ let go and let God”.....worry less about the law which has already done what it was intended to do and concern yourself more with enjoying God’s Grace and strive to “ enter into His rest”.Knowing That all of your sins are forgiven will not—- as modern day Judaizers contend—- inspire you to go out and sin up a storm.Understanding and living out a life of Grace will stir up gratitude and love for God.....sins have a tendency to atrophy when that happens.Legalists never understand these things.Stay away from them.God bless.

  31. I think it helps to remember that all Scripture is God breathed, that it was the Word speaking the Father's thoughts, we also need to remember that not only is God living in glory, He IS Glory, ...since He is Perfect, without any imperfection, without sin, He doesn't think the way we do, His thoughts are not like our thoughts, what is vulgar to us in our particular society is not vulgar, so to speak, to Him. This minuscule time-space continuum we live in, compared to Eternity, is for Him, not a problem, way back, farther than our minds can imagine, when it was just God the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, He knew what that there would be a problem and He already had a solution planed for the problem and He knew those (us) that would come out of the problem clean, sanctified, just, righteous and would be fit, prepared to live with Him in Glory. So, for me, I believe He used this word and other descriptive words in His Word, that we consider vulgar to remind us while we are here that the thrice Holy God, the One who is Glory manifested in Flesh, stooped down into the cess pool we all are/were living in to call us to Himself... The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Ps 51:17

  32. Hi all, Personally I do not think it is intended to mean males or males only. It may reference those that do not hold out for propriety or those that cannot or will not restrain themselves or bear discomfort, instead taking easiest relief in matters of personal concern. God sorts in rather graphic fashion in many instances winnowing down the troops so to speak, so that when victory is at hand it is known that it can only be of God's will and pleasure and not by the works and will of man. On a personal note; one long long long time ago many were lined up at the latrine at a Boy Scout jamboree. Too many to accommodate the need of the flesh to relieve in time. So many stepped out of line, one after another, until there was a majority marking against the cabin wall so to speak. That didn't go too well with the scout leaders when the cabin wall smelled of urine come morning, and all had to then carry water and scrub the exterior cabin wall. Consequence and punishment and a need was shared by all for the short cutting of others.

  33. Do you not know that when we are born again we are translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light? Our life is changed and we realize that we are no longer walking in our old ways of sin. Faith to believe is a gift....and likewise repentance is a gift not of ourselves as well. God gives it to those who are willing.......and doesn't give it to those who harden their hearts and reject Jesus and His message.

  34. No, you understood me correctly. I do not believe we will be here for that final hour, as the gathering takes place at His coming like a thief. I agree with you, but not on the timing. What I mean is, honestly, there won't be many Christians still alive by the time we reach this point, and those that are will most likely be imprisoned. Revelation 13:5 And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven. 7 Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, 8 and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain. 9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear: 10 If anyone is to be taken captive, to captivity he goes; if anyone is to be slain with the sword, with the sword must he be slain. Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints. What we have is a 42 month period in which war is waged on the saints, an extermination if you will. Some slain by the sword, some taken captive and most of that group probably executed. Our purification is based on our faith in Christ, much like the persecution the early church faced. We are made white by Him, and Him alone, and our witness will be displayed in how we meet our end, only by the power of the Holy Spirit. Remember the call in scripture, do not love your lives. Now during this same period of time, the faithful remnant of Israel is being protected in the wilderness. Hosea gives a pretty good account of what is taking place with them, and also Isaiah. Revelation also speaks of the two groups and the different manner in which they experience the end times. Revelation 12:13 And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. 14 But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time. 15 The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with a flood. 16 But the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth. 17 Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea.

  35. Listen, I really don't feel like this needs to be hashed out any more. First, we should be striving to live a holy and righteous life! Second, we should be striving to enter into that place of REST whereby we know we have eternal life and you ENTER into God's REST! Third, we are completely SAVED by GRACE -- NOT OF WORKS! Fourth, If we are TRULY SAVED, then we should be living a life toward SANCTIFICATION and HOLINESS! So let's agree on these points and stop chasing each other around the forums with your other points!

  36. I have never experienced a [plain words spoken] experience.. But i will share an experience that i had when i was a very new Christian.. One day i was watching TV and an add came on.. The add was about a fast food meal deal from i think KFC (not absolutely sure about that) Anyway in the add it was talking about a family meal deal that included 6 soft drinks and 6 (if memory serves me well) pieces of chicken.. Anyway during the add the announcer would say 666 as 3 cans of soft drink where opened the 6 being said at the same time as the sss kind of sound you get when a can is opened as the pressure is released.. So the announcer said 666 twice as all the cans where opened in two sets of 3 cans.. Now i had watched this advert many times before but this time things where Very different the moment the announcer said the first set of 666 i knew that something evil was near when the announcer said the second 666 i knew that evil was at my door.. The moment the announcer had finished saying the second 666 there was a knock at the door.. And i must admit a flash of fear went through me.. heightened trepidation as i walked to the door to answer it.. I opened the door and standing before me was two woman and a child.. They where Jehovah witnesses out to win me to the JW religion.. Well you can be assured i never accepted their sales pitches but i did let them know that i was a Christian. I think that sparked some hope in them because they did visit my house a few more times over the next few months.. I believe the experience was a direct intervention of the Holy Spirit to defend me (at the time a babe in Christ) from getting involved in a false religious cult that would lead me into deception.. Of course i cannot prove to another that the experience i had that day was from God.. But the experience left me in absolutely no doubt as to Who caused this to happen and why He did so..

  37. Jacob Blesses Ephraim and Manasseh …7Now as for me, when I was returning from Paddan, to my sorrow Rachel died along the way in the land of Canaan, some distance from Ephrath. So I buried her there beside the road to Ephrath” (that is, Bethlehem). 8When Israel saw the sons of Joseph, he asked, “Who are these?”9Joseph said to his father, “They are the sons God has given me in this place.” So Jacob said, “Please bring them to me, that I may bless them.”…Gen 48:7-9

  39. Today's word is not Hebrew or Greek, it's Eskimo! The word is issumagijoujunnainermik. When missionaries first shared the gospel with the Eskimos, they couldn't find any word in the Eskimo language for forgiveness. So, they took a number of Eskimo words and joined them to form a new word -- Issu-magi-jou-jun-nai-ner-mik -- and it became the Eskimo word for forgiveness. The individual words are "Not-being-able-to-think-about-it-anymore." The post Issumagijoujunnainermik! appeared first on Worthy Christian Devotional - Daily Devotions. Read the entire devotional.

  40. Its wasting time trying to seek the kingdom of God in this world, but we may have a chance if we look into our hearts whether we can find forgiveness and sharing and caring in it, thats the kingdom of God.

  41. I am curious too. Some of them say that they hear the audible voice of God and they are wrong. Some others mean it softly I think. Anyway, I think it' s a wrong and abused way to express ourselves. God can make us understand things through His Word, our siblings quoting and living His Word and the application of His Word to circumstances of life, but usually people who say "God told me" think that God communicate with them through their emotions or whatever voice in their head. So I would avoid using that expression and beware of it.

  43. God also told you this. Acts 2:16 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: 17 “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; 18 even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.

  46. I've often thought the same, that discerning of spirits is the greatest among the gifts. However, in my recent understanding of His Word it would seem to me that each moment has a need in and of itself and in that moment we are to desire the "higher gifting" for that moment if that makes sense. Just my own 2 cents, but I think we should all walk with the desire to be used by Him in whatever way possible at all times.

  48. Hi George, My thoughts are - because Jesus went to the Father, then now by His Holy Spirit working through the Body of Christ, greater, more numerous works (from the Head - Jesus) will be / are being, done. regards, Marilyn.

  49. The apostle Paul elaborated much on how the Holy Spirit works through the body of Christ. In 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, Paul writes: "Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. 6 There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. 7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; 9 to another faith [d]by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of [e]healing [f]by the one Spirit, 10 and to another the [g]effecting of [h]miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the [i]distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills." In Romans 12:3-8, we read: " For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness." Hence, the Holy Spirit presents Christ working through the entire body of believers. Certainly, Jesus demonstrated the working of the Holy Spirit as He ministered to the crowds, as He exhorted, showed mercy, taught, prophesied, healed, and demonstrated discernment of spirits.
