  1. Well you have the world arguing that sin is not sin. Then you have Christians striving to understand God’s Word, but having to overcome the disadvantage of everything worldly we learned. So Christians, being only forgiven, and not perfect, have disagreements. Having seen Christians in heated disagreements, well they pale in comparison the world having disagreements. I suppose it is all in what one has experienced in their life that may affect how one judges his brothers and sisters. Even so, let us build one another up more than we tear down.

  2. Good advice given to you so far. Yes, do forgive your parents, and as HikerMom said, you might explain your feelings to them...if you are so led. Hopefully, they will understand and be sensitive about it. If not, you can't hold that against them....at least you will be doing the right thing in letting your light shine openly for Christ. Other situations: I would just let my "light" shine in natural ways in my daily life, like at your workplace. If you feel led or have opportunity to tell people about becoming a Christian, then do so. You will be a blessing to many that are praying for family members to come to know Jesus. Be sure to make some good Christian friends for socializing and having fun with. People will often notice Christians and their joy together...this can also be a testimony to others of your faith.

  3. Here are my thoughts dr3032. Ask God to help you forgive your parents and don't hold back this part of yourself from them. I know they let you down, but for your own sake you need to forgive them. I hope you will find a good church home somewhere where you can love and be loved in return! Christians need one another to make it through life! You need to be part of a church family where you can give and receive support. Ask God to help you forgive people...listen to one who regrets having unforgiveness. It spills out on all parts of your life. You don't want to be in that prison. It is normal for it to feel like you are losing when you forgive...Let God be the one to deal with your parents. You could try to tell them how they have hurt you and see if they could understand. But you would have to know they may not react in a Christ like way. You might not be able to get that deep connection with them that you desire. But in my experience, God more than makes up for what we don't get from our parents!! He will put healing people in your life. Trust Him. Ask for His help. I think you are VERY wise to be asking advice...I am sure others will have more valuable advice than me. Blessings!!

  4. It is speaking of the Song of Solomon, which is also called the Song of Songs. But not all believe it is a parable of Christ and the Church. While you can draw an analogy, it certainly can't be seen as literal. A lot of paraphrases are called translations. We really have to be vigilant. Even the Watchtower's bible is called a translation but the authors didn't know any Greek or Hebrew, according to court records. We need to use literal translations as much as possible since some really run amuck.

  5. I suppose you might call me a "closet Christian". You see, when I was younger and rebellious against my parents, I had made the decision to become an atheist. Within that time period, they would make passing remarks such as, "you'll be a Christian again someday" or "you'll come around". It drove me up the wall, as I felt it was a form of disrespect towards my decision, as it was with many things at the time. I felt as if they didn't take me seriously. While those times have passed and I realize it is... Perhaps a sort of pettiness on my end, i'm not sure how to or even IF I should reveal to them my "return". I can just picture them putting a hand on my shoulder and saying that they told me so, laughing about it. A part of me, perhaps that teenager that felt that they were treated as a fool, just feels like that would be a loss. I mean, I was being foolish, but writing me off just didn't help. I just don't know if I should tell them, nor do I know how i'd go about that, really. Even in everyday life, I really don't leave the confines of my closet. I don't if it seems like it would be awkward to bring up in everyday conversation or what, I just don't know what one revealing oneself as a Christian means. Jesus did not like that the Pharisees and teachers of the law preached and prayed in the streets where all could see, for the sake of being praised by men. Is it just a matter of not doing it to be praised by men? The bible makes many mentions of both things being put out there for all to see and other things kept behind closed doors. I'm just uncertain as to how to proceed. So, yeah. I'm looking for advice as far as my parents and socializing in general.

  8. To all of those who do not understand that many of the chapters in the book of Revelation are "Parenthetical Citations" THEY MISS the big picture, they really expect to see Revelation in order, when its not. Chapter 14 is the same way, it covers the RAPTURE............then it covers the SECOND COMING. Rev. 14:14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man (Jesus), having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap (Rapture, Jesus is IN THE AIR, on a Cloud, he calls us unto him): for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth WAS REAPED. 17 And ANOTHER angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. 18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. 19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And the winepress was trodden without the city (Armageddon), and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs. This is very clear to me. Jesus is the Son of man, HE THRUSTS IN THE CYCLE to Rapture the Church in verses 14-16. BUT......In verses 17-20 we see that its an ANGEL that thrusts in the cycle to gather the WICKED into the Wine-press. (Rev. 16:19) This clearly shows a Rapture by Jesus and then an END TIME Harvest of the Wicked.

  9. John 3: 16 For God so love the world that he gave his only begottan son. That who so ever believe in him should not parish but have ever lasting life. To the ones who don't believe in Jesus Christ. He is the only way to get to heaven. Not by works. But trusting Jesus Christ as Savior. And if you die and did not believe you will be thrown into the lake of fire. You will feel the pain of fire all day every day. And once your there you can't get out. He died so you would not have to pay the price. He has angels thousands of them. But satin puts thoughts in your head and you choose to believe or not to believe in Jesus Christ. He has angels also. But they are called Demons Jesus has no demons be cause he is the only one we worship. I know a lot of people don't believe Jesus died. But he had no choice. If it were not for him to die on the cross. We would not be here or be forgiving. The bible also talks about how we should love one another even our people who don't love us or obeay the laws. You are wanted by Jesus to except him into your life. And one of the laws says thou shall not kill. And I hear it a lot of times on the news. If you have any questions about the bible write to me on here and I will do the best to help you.

  11. dr3032, be of good courage. You could eventually end up shedding more light on the truth than they do, at which point they may have no choice but to take you more seriously, LoL. The lamp on a lampstand teaching was about more than just expressing one's faith in Christ. It was about receiving and sharing far greater revelation from God than anything the Pharisees and scribes could offer, and not being afraid or discouraged from doing so no matter what the circumstances. Christ's teaching in the Parable of the Sower was a command to allow the word to grow within you so fully (up to 30, 60, or 100 fold) that it couldn't help but pour forth into others, due to your having given yourself to the study of His word so much that it just begins happening naturally. When you open your mouth - to your parents or anyone else for that matter - the word just comes pouring forth in wisdom and revelation from God. So dedicate yourself to Him completely. In time, it may be you who becomes the instructor to your family, and if they pat you on the back now then maybe you can pat them on the back later (in a good spirit, of course), and let them know you understand, and that sometimes it just takes people a little while to come around is all, LoL. Be encouraged. God is a righteous Judge, and He will set every record straight.

  12. Thank you Thomas. I am sure I am wasteful when it comes to food. Food is abundant here and available in excess to almost everyone, even the very poor. Though some of the free insane and or mentaly incapacitated do not receive the food they should be able to have, as they are allowed the freedom to wander aimlessly about here at the USA. The result of a supreme court decision many decades ago that perhibits locking up the insane against their will. There is so much food and programs to get free food that many use their welfare food coupons to buy Maine lobsters and then resell them to the richer individuals at a discount. That way they have cash to spend on whatever they want. Our supermarkets nearest the poor order extra Maine lobsters each month on the week the coupons come out for the poor on welfare. Locally we can no longer buy nitrate fertilizers for our lawns and flowers and shrubs. The stores cannot carry it. But we can hire a service to fertilize and they can use nitrates being professionals at spreading fertilizer. Go figure. It's all manure to me. My neighbor picked up truck loads of aged horse manure for his new bushes plantings. Now every time it rains, it smells like I am out in the country, horse country. And the nitrates run of into the water sewer system to go to the sewer treatment plant to gather out the nitrates so that the water can be recycled to irrigate yards and likely those very bushes yet again. It all seems a load to me. The cycle seems a money making scheme for some selling solutions to problems. Problems created for the sake of having solutions to sell. Anyway, it is fascinating to hear of Germany and your own local issues. Thanks for sharing. May God bless you and your family and circle of brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus.

  15. Why do you ignore what I say? Both Noah and Lot were taken the DAY wrath began. Each time there was no repentance available for those on the earth or the city because the time of wrath was upon them, the utter destruction of the enemies. This is the model. At the end of the age the believers will be taken on the day wrath begins when no repentance is available and the enemies are utterly destroyed. It's not me that doesn't get it. No one is 'raptured' out of 'trouble' but we all are saved from wrath.

  16. The Hometown of Peter, Andrew and Phillip May Have Just Been Discovered. Archaeologist in Galilee claim they may have found the lost village of Bethsaida, the hometown of Peter, Andrew and Phillip. John 1:44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. The name Bethsaida means, appropriately enough, ‘House of the fishermen.’ Over the ages it’s location was lost to history. Part of the mystery was that King Philip Herod had built over Bethsaida and renamed it Julias. Jewish historian Josephus Flavius said that Philip Herod remade the village into a proper Roman polis. Israel’s Haaretz first reported it: Bethsaida Discovery Then National Geographic covered it: The House of Jesus' Apostles Background on Bethsaida: The Mystery of Bethsaida

  18. Welcome, lexmhll. Peace be with you. No one need fear committing the unpardonable sin referenced in Mark 3:28-30 & Matthew 12:31-32 if they have truely accepted Christ as their Savior. The unforgivable sin you speak of is the blasphemous action of refusing to accept the witness of the Holy Spirit as to who Jesus was, and for what purpose He had come. The Pharisees listened to Jesus' words & teachings, and then rejected the Holy Spirit’s witness to the truths He spoke, and to His very deity. Rejecting Jesus is unpardonable, and Jesus equated that to blaspheming the Holy Spirit. The bottom line- if we freely & sincerely accept Jesus as our Lord & Savior, we Do Not, Nor Shall We Ever Be Guilty Of blaspheming the Holy Spirit; because we have believed in the Holy Spirit's message and testimony to the truth. I pray this explanation brings closure of this issue to your mind, and peace to your spirit.

  21. Hi dr3032! Good advice above from HikerMom on (prayerfully) asking for God's help in forgiving your parents if you need to! Not forgiving folks definitively puts unseen prison bars around those who choose not to forgive. Your subject " A Lamp On The Stand" had me thinking immediately on this verse, as if you "perhaps" already "knew" the answer! Luke 11:33 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. This verse has your parents included in it's context, let them know the great news when you get a chance!

  24. This “translation” has gained increasing popularity and you can be absolutely sure that has nothing to do with me. I will speak out against The Passion Translation at every opportunity. To anyone who actually cares to pay attention, it is more that clear why I started this thread, and you had better believe it was NOT to support this heretical work that masquerades as the word of God. If the claim of equality with Jesus Christ wasn’t enough to show you why this “translation” should be avoided, I doubt anything else I share will convince you. So, do with that what you will, that is your choice and you are responsible for it.

  25. I have to thank you for another beautiful translation to read. If you had not started this thread, I would not have even known it existed. Thank you again.

  26. Indeed. False teaching is a judgement on people as well, just as the Scripture you shared says, for not “believing” or loving the truth. And such could be any of us if we do not ourselves earnestly desire to know and love the truth and then, once we do know it, earnestly contend for it. What really confuses me is when people who read their Bibles every single day still believe these things. I’ve talked with family members who do so, even though I know they definetly read the word of God. I had a conversation awhile back with a family member who considers Rodney Howard Browne (“the Holy Ghost bartender”) to be “very anointed of God”. Even though I laid out my concerns respectfully and Biblically, they basically accused me of making fun of “a man of God.” I honestly don’t know how to reach my family and friends who believe the deception of the NAR, especially once they’ve had some kind of “experience” or “encounter”.
    1 point
  27. Exactly. Either these stories were made up by him (or others) or there is some potentially demonic deception going on. Either way it is deception. One of the most troubling aspects of this, however, is that now he has created something that is supposedly the actual word of God (a newer, better “translation”). All of these books and online teachings and so forth are bad enough, but now he’s crossed the line over into dealing with God’s word. Similarly to the so called “prophets” of the NAR who claim to be hearing the latest “now word” from God.
    1 point
  28. It’s also interesting to note that the FAQ page on the official website for The Passion Translation says this: “I’ve heard that Brian Simmons is part of something called the NAR. Is that true?“ “The New Apostolic Reformation, commonly known as NAR, is a name used by certain Internet apologists and critics to identify leaders mostly in the Pentecostal and charismatic traditions who affirm (or seem to affirm in part or full) a group of beliefs the critics oppose. Brian Simmons has been unfairly identified with this non-movement because of his association with some of these leaders and affinity with Pentecostalism. Further, such critics have falsely accused Simmons of writing The Passion Translation as a stealth maneuver in support of the non-movement’s agenda and to bolster it theologically through translation renderings. Neither of these accusations are fair or accurate. Although he writes at times for the Pentecostal reader and worshiper, he affirms historic Christian orthodoxy and stands within the broad evangelical theological tradition.” “Simmons undertook this translation project because he felt a calling from God, and because he has always wanted to bring people into a greater understanding of the wealth and treasure contained in the Bible.” Notice how the NAR is referred to as a “non-movement” and that it is the “internet apologists and critics” who have falsely accused Simmons of being involved in the NAR. This is a common tactic used by these New Apostolic leaders to discredit anyone who questions their teachings. Basically they diminish these Christians and their valid concerns by implying that these Christians are just unintelligent individuals, who maybe still live in their parents basement and do all of their research on google. (Hence the keyword “internet” placed before “apologist” and “critic.”) And concerning that last paragraph regarding Simmons’ intentions and purposes in “undertaking” this “translation”, one has only to do some careful research to understand that this “calling from God” that he “felt” was actually a trip to Heaven’s library where he claims to have met with Jesus and then a subsequent visitation from Jesus in his home. (And this in his own words).

  29. For me, conflict between Christians in general. I do understand the need for it in certain situations, of course, but I see no need for, nor do I care for petty squabbling. It's rather depressing when some people will seemingly seek out any and all reasons to start trouble amongst who should be their brothers and sisters.

  31. I encouraged a friend and member of the church I pastored before retirement to volunteer to work on the archaeological dig at Bethsaida. The reason Bethsaida's ruins were only recently discovered is that it was originally bordered by a bay that was part of the Sea of Galilee in Jesus' day, but which had long since dried up due to a steady increase of silt. My friend made important discoveries there. One high school volunteer found a coin from 37 BC with the Roman general Mark Anthony's face on one side and Cleopatra's face on the obverse. That coin is priceless. The reason why Bethsaida is a uniquely rich archaeological site is that it was buried by an earthquake around 100 AD, and so, much of it was preserved in mint condition, including an ancient fisherman's house, complete with fishing equipment, a house wine cellar, and a first century oil lamp in mint conidition.

  32. Christian bookstores are the same as any other store. In the business of making money. Not in the business of figuring out what is solid and only selling that. 35. Sorry, NAR stands for New Apostolic Reformation. Basically this is a broad and loosely organized movement made up of leaders who consider themselves to be modern day “prophets” and “apostles.” They don’t necessarily even use this title themselves, though it originated with C. Peter Wagner (who has since passed away) and was himself considered a prophet/apostle, and was one of the main leaders of this movement. I’ve done a lot of research into the New Apostolic Reformation, its influences have spread like wildfire in the Church. DTS stands for Discipleship Training School.

  37. I don’t know, but I have tried to lovingly discuss this with them. They view my faith as small. After all, they are the ones who have actually done a DTS, not me. They have seen God move in ways they can’t explain. So, I’ve been told, I just want a “comfortable faith that won’t rock the boat.” And this is how the NAR leaders train their followers to respond to any concerns caring family and friends bring up.

  38. Bible gateway has a copy of his translation of the bible. So I snooped around it for a bit. Chapter 4 of song of solomon doesnt resemble his version of the song of songs. KJV 4 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes within thy locks: thy hair is as a flock of goats, that appear from mount Gilead. 2 Thy teeth are like a flock of sheep that are even shorn, which came up from the washing; whereof every one bear twins, and none is barren among them. 3 Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely: thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks. 4 Thy neck is like the tower of David builded for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men. 5 Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins, which feed among the lilies. 6 Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense. 7 Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee. 8 Come with me from Lebanon, my spouse, with me from Lebanon: look from the top of Amana, from the top of Shenir and Hermon, from the lions' dens, from the mountains of the leopards. 9 Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck. 10 How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices! 11 Thy lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey and milk are under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon. 12 A garden inclosed is my sister, my spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed. 13 Thy plants are an orchard of pomegranates, with pleasant fruits; camphire, with spikenard, 14 Spikenard and saffron; calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense; myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices: 15 A fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon. 16 Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits. The passion translation (differences bolded and red) Song of Songs 4 The Passion Translation (TPT) The Bridegroom-King 4 Listen, my dearest darling, you are so beautiful—you are beauty itself to me! Your eyes glisten with love, like gentle doves behind your veil. What devotion I see each time I gaze upon you. You are like a sacrifice ready to be offered.[a] 2 When I look at you, I see how you have taken my fruit and tasted my word. Your life has become clean and pure, like a lamb washed and newly shorn. You now show grace and balance with truth on display. 3 Your lips are as lovely as Rahab’s scarlet ribbon, speaking mercy, speaking grace. The words of your mouth are as refreshing as an oasis. What pleasure you bring to me! I see your blushing cheeks opened like the halves of a pomegranate,[c] showing through your veil of tender meekness. 4 When I look at you, I see your inner strength, so stately and strong. You are as secure as David’s fortress. Your virtues and grace cause a thousand famous soldiers to surrender to your beauty. 5 Your pure faith and love rest over your heart as you nurture those who are yet infants. The Shulamite 6 I’ve made up my mind. Until the darkness disappears and the dawn has fully come, in spite of shadows and fears, I will go to the mountaintop with you— the mountain of suffering love[d] and the hill of burning incense. Yes, I will be your bride.[e] The Bridegroom-King 7 Every part of you is so beautiful, my darling. Perfect is your beauty, without flaw within. 8 Now you are ready, my bride, to come with me as we climb the highest peaks together. Come with me through the archway of trust.[f] We will look down[g] from the crest of the glistening mounts and from the summit of our sublime sanctuary. Together we will wage war in the lion’s den and the leopard’s lair as they watch nightly for their prey. 9 For you reach into my heart. With one flash of your eyes I am undone by your love, my beloved, my equal, my bride. You leave me breathless— I am overcome by merely a glance from your worshiping eyes, for you have stolen my heart.[h] I am held hostage by your love and by the graces of righteousness shining upon you. 10 How satisfying to me, my equal, my bride. Your love is my finest wine—intoxicating and thrilling. And your sweet, perfumed praises—so exotic, so pleasing. 11 Your loving words are like the honeycomb to me; your tongue releases milk and honey, for I find the Promised Land flowing within you.[j] The fragrance of your worshiping love surrounds you with scented robes of white.[k] 12 My darling bride, my private paradise, fastened to my heart. A secret spring are you that no one else can have— my bubbling fountain hidden from public view. What a perfect partner to me now that I have you. 13–14 Your inward life is now sprouting, bringing forth fruit. What a beautiful paradise unfolds within you.[l] When I’m near you, I smell aromas of the finest spice, for many clusters of my exquisite fruit now grow within your inner garden. Here are the nine: pomegranates of passion,[m] henna from heaven,[n] spikenard so sweet,[o] saffron shining,[p] fragrant calamus from the cross,[q] sacred cinnamon,[r] branches of scented woods, myrrh, like tears from a tree,[t] and aloe as eagles ascending. 15 Your life flows into mine, pure as a garden spring. A well of living water springs up from within you, like a mountain brook flowing into my heart![v] The Shulamite Bride 4:16–5:1 Then may your awakening breath blow upon my life until I am fully yours. Breathe upon me with your Spirit wind. Stir up the sweet spice of your life within me. Spare nothing as you make me your fruitful garden. Hold nothing back until I release your fragrance. Come walk with me as you walked with Adam in your paradise garden.[w] Come taste the fruits of your life in me. The Bridegroom-King I have come to you, my darling bride, for you are my paradise garden! The Shulamite Bride Come walk with me until I am fully yours. Come taste the fruits of your life in me.

  42. Ok.. Well anyway anyone who adds to the scriptures there is a curse added to the end of the Bible that states.. Revelation 22: KJV 18 "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:" So adding to the Word of God is a serious transgression against God.. Saying that we can be equal to God is a claim satan used to entice Eve to rebell against the will of God in Genisis..

  48. From what I have been told and understand, that the unforgivable sin is not something that just happens out of the blue or a random thought that enters your mind, but a premeditated or deliberate act of knowing who he was and what he was about and willfully rejecting him anyways, as the pharisees were self righteous zealots. I to struggle with these kind of thoughts and they somewhat border on OCD disorder. I remind myself that these thoughts that do come into my head, are based on anxiety and not my true intent and what's in my heart.
