Hymn title: On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand 1: My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name. Refrain: On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand, All other ground is sinking sand. 2: When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale, My anchor holds within the veil. 3: His oath, His covenant, His blood, Support me in the whelming flood; When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay. 4: When He shall come with trumpet sound, Oh, may I then in Him be found; In Him, my righteousness, alone, Faultless to stand before the throne. I am on the Lord's side when I agree with Him against myself. Oh, to be an overcomer like Job, "Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him." A brother commented, "Will I hold to His hand even when it appears He is my enemy? Do I love Him for what I can get, or for Who He is"?
-
I am on the Lord's side because He first loved me. "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." 1 John 4:10 "We love him, because he first loved us" 1 John 4:19

Staying on the lord's side
Retrobyter replied to Benevolent's topic in Who's on the Lord side?'s Topics
Shabbat shalom, Benevolent. Realize that it's not about "us" but about YHWH our God! What are "hardships" in this life compared to the wonders we will experience in the New Earth? Even if we lived to be 100 years old with physical problems and pain the whole time, what is that compared to 100,000,000 years of joy and contentment, no more pain, or death, or crying? And, even after 100 MILLION years, that time is not even a drop in a bucket compared to eternity! One should look THROUGH any pain one might be experiencing and see our Lord Yeshua`s suffering for us! He ENDURED the cross, DESPISING the shame, focusing on the future glory He would have! If one's troubles are financial, what is that compared to YHWH who owns the cattle on every grazing hill?! (Some read "on a thousand hills," but the word for a "thousand," "alef" [the first letter of the Hebrew alefbet] means "bull," and the passage could actually mean, "on every hill for grazing cattle!") He CREATED every atom of gold, silver, and platinum on this earth! He CREATED the carbon in every crystal of diamond He formed in this earth! I like the story of the guy who thought he could buy his way into the Kingdom. He took all he owned and converted it to gold. Then, he melted down all the gold into bricks and packed it all for his journey. When he got to the pearly gate, he presented his bricks as payment for entry. The angel at the gate scratched his head and said, "What do we need pavement for?" Revelation 21:21 (KJV) 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. When we pray, we shouldn't just be asking for things or wealth or wellness or healing; we should be talking to our God! He doesn't want your things; He wants YOU! He wants YOUR TIME! He wants YOUR LOVE! I really like what James Dobson said about children: 'Children spell "love" "T-I-M-E!"' Children don't crave the things you can buy them at Christmas as much as they crave the TIME you can spend with them! Guess who instilled that need in children? God is the SAME WAY! He doesn't want your things; He wants YOU! Micah 6:7-8 (KJV) 7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but (1) to do justly, and (2) to love mercy, and (3) to walk humbly with thy God? This passage reminds me of Chanowkh, Adam's great, great, great, great grandson: Genesis 5:21-24 (KJV) 21 And Enoch (Chanowkh) lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: 22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. To "stay on the LORD'S side," draw closer to HIM! James 4:7-10 (KJV) 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. -

I am on the Lord's side because He is the only true stability in an ever changing world. I wrote a poem on 9-25-18 that expresses what I mean. It is called "Only God Remains The Same." September 25, 2018 Written from a heavy heart as my mom faces yet another medical crisis... Only God Remains The Same No matter how we do our part To carefully prepare There will always be those things That catch us unaware Hold on loosely to this world And everything that's in it Unexpected circumstances change life in a minute Trials we can't control will come And leave us hurt and frail Friends will sometimes let us down For sinful humans fail Jesus Christ will be our Rock Amidst life's shifting sands So when we trust in Him alone We're in the best of hands Yesterday, today, forever Jesus is the same In our storms He's our strong tower We run into His Name Only God remains the same With every changing tide How we need to have Him near And in His love abide! "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Hebrews 13:8 "The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe." Proverbs 18:10

Turtletwo. Love your quote by Tozer also. Love to you sister in christ.

Me too. He is so easy to love. "We love him, because he first loved us." 1 John 4:19 “The cross is the lightning rod of grace that short-circuits God’s wrath to Christ so that only the light of His love remains for believers.” ~ A. W. Tozer

A huge topic which might be better addressed under ‘theology’. However if you really want a scholarly response I would suggest the works of Norman Geisler and RC Sproul. They represent the heavy hitters of the Calvinist and Armenian persuasions. -

Encounters with those not on the Lord's side

"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." 1 Cor 1:18 The gospel flies in the face of the status quo and what is trending at the moment. Popularity and fitting in is really important to the world. They often look upon you as an embarrassment. In my early days with the Lord, I was called a Jesus freak at public school. Another comeback with those not on the Lord's side is, "Well-that's good for you, but it's not for me. " It's as if they almost view God as a mere hobby that they happen to not take an interest in. Anyone else run into this response in their personal encounters with the unsaved? -

From early in our marriage, my husband and I have had a favourite verse - Josh. 24:15 ..."................ choose for yourselves today whom you will serve:....... but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.". We have, of course, had many encounters with those who are not on the Lord's side. We pray that God will give us the words to say in season and out of season, that they may be able to believe. -

We're so blessed to have forums such as these, where discrimination and prejudice is discouraged. Easter Sunday coincded with April the 1st, and there's those who thought it ok mock our beliefs. Now, as an aspiring actor, I used a modelling website to assatain some portfolio images. However, no suprise here, there was one member who thought it humorous to claim his rejection of his profession in favour of our Lord. This was his April Fools joke. However, his post have others inspiration to share their dislike towards our faith, some quite explicitly slanderous. I let it go for two days, hoping that it would end, as, afterall, it was now the 3rd. So action had to be taken. I explained to the forum admin that this article was prejudistic and that some members were displaying hate towards our faith. This was met by indifference. I furthered by explaining how, if the joke had been one of gender, that as this has a strong following in the performing arts industry, that the repercussions would be great and that they would undoubtedly have removed the article. I also posted on the article, plainly stating that the joke(?) was over and to have a little respect. The author of the article responded by stating that it was his "freedom of speech" and that if I don't like the article, then I shouldn't get involved. It's amazing how, without even stating whether you're a Christian or not, that any defence is met by hostility. Well, that's me letting off some steam (possibly a small bubble or two) -
There is one question I need to ask here, the creation of man and devil, is it the will of God? And if Yes... ?

Hi Benevolent, Good question, thanks. The above answers of the Church - full of Faith - are also all right. Yet, it depends. On what? Probably, on how we manage to use the abovenamed Scriptures in our actual circumstances and conditions. For, as one Pastor rightly said, the devil was likened to a fisherman which had a proper bait for every fish - a temptation for each of us. Common sense, compromise, mammon, fear, pride, lust - you pick it for yourself. Add to that the well-known war-rule "don't underestimate your enemy." Sounds pessimistic? Doesn't matter. My point is, stay vigilant. May 1John 5:18 teaches us to be one step ahead of the evil one. GOD bless you. Igor -

Shalom, my Brothers & Sisters in Christ Jesus, I encountered quite unfriendly unbelievers too, even recently when had entered their atheistic websites to pick up some new questions for my Q & A book (see the address below.) You may have a look at the articles 254-282. Their every question to Believers is like a snake, isn't it? I politely introduced myself and my sites to them, promised to answer their 10 "chosen" questions (each site). The strange thing is that right thereafter I found myself busy to tighten up the security system, for a couple of spammers dropped by to discharge their porno-dung right into my blog. Yea, that's how we've got to follow the Great Commission of Christ... GOD bless you. Igor http://igor.worthyofpraise.org -

A Stranger In A And she bare a son, and he called his name Gershom; for he said, I have been a sojourner in a foreign land. Exodus 2:22 (American Standard Version) Strange Land By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, without knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the promised land as a stranger in a foreign country. He lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. Hello Everyone What a "real-life" topic this one is for me... I live in an environment where people are mostly atheists or people involved in the new-age kind of religion (yoga-related, mostly). My own family does not know the Lord. I am trying to let them know about why we need Jesus. And let me tell you how hard this is... "Noone is a prophet in his/her own country". I pray again and again, hoping our Lord can have pity for them and lift the veil that blinds them. I certainly would listen to any advice you may have! Especially for the relatives. I find it easier to talk about Jesus at work, even though I expose myself to being fired for it (we are a republic insisting on secularism and religious matters are prohibited in public places, especially at work). Yes, it is easier with "strangers" or people I am less involved with, emotionally. (sighs)... What is the best way to do this ? I am soooooo grateful that I was given the gift of faith ! I am so grateful to be on the Lord's side <3 -

Eat You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons. 1 Corinthians 10:21 (New International Version) At The Right Table When I discovered your words, I devoured them. Then Jesus said, "I am the true vine, and my Father takes care of the vineyard. He removes every one of my branches that doesn't produce fruit. He also prunes every branch that does produce fruit to make it produce more fruit. "You are already clean because of what I have told you. Live in me, and I will live in you. A branch cannot produce any fruit by itself. It has to stay attached to the vine. In the same way, you cannot produce fruit unless you live in me. "I am the vine. You are the branches. Those who live in me while I live in them will produce a lot of fruit. But you can't produce anything without me. Whoever doesn't live in me is thrown away like a branch and dries up. Branches like this are gathered, thrown into a fire, and burned. If you live in me and what I say lives in you, then ask for anything you want, and it will be yours. You give glory to my Father when you produce a lot of fruit and therefore show that you are my disciples. "I have loved you the same way the Father has loved me. So live in my love. If you obey my commandments, you will live in my love. I have obeyed my Father's commandments, and in that way I live in his love. I have told you this so that you will be as joyful as I am, and your joy will be complete. Love each other as I have loved you. This is what I'm commanding you to do. John 15:1-12 (GOD'S WORD® Translation) -

When I think about this is hard a lot of the time to stay strong and be fighting for the Lord when the world makes it seem easier to be against him and almost sometimes rewarded for it. What helps me is to keep in mind that the Lord (Jesus) is also fighting for us. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10. We may endure trial and sometimes it seems too much to bear but we literally need God to love and it is my belief that this is to strengthen us not to harm us along with the reward of treasures in heaven. He promises that we will never be tempted more than we can bear. If we turn from the Lord it realistically makes it harder to get back on the right track and even harder to succeed and enjoy life even though the world promises pleasure by temptation the Lord warns us to avoid sin for our own good anyway as Proverbs 2 states 7He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, 8for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. -
