  2. Hey Patriot, So glad that you decided to add another post. It is good to read and gives something to think about. I love the example you gave about King David being both a loving man and a warrior. Hope that you will continue to share. Blessings

  3. The Gunfighter Hey all, got on and realized that I started a blog, or rather blog series, last year, and never continued it, and from the feedback I got from the last one, I figured it was about time I put in my next installment, which is "The Gunfighter" Many old westerns usually have more then one, they have the hero, and a villain, and often several "allies" on both sides. Many Gunfighters, also share traights with loners, and/or are loners. Where they differ though, is that while they may "enjoy" being alone, they rarely back down from a fight, and speak their mind. They're not always loners, some will go in a group, and often exhibit fierce loyalty to those whom they consider their friends. They speak their mind, and often see life as "black and white". They live by their code, and anyone who doesn't is in the wrong. They enjoy debate, arn't afraid to get in the mud so to speak, and when they find someone or a group of someones whom they trust, are loyal to them to the bitter end. They do not understand the concept of "retreat" and often treat situations as "their way or the highway" Now, their ability to charge into a fight guns blazing no questions asked, is both their greatest strength, and their biggest weakness. There is no doubt that churches often need such "Gunfighters" in their church, but often at the same time if left unchecked can run off and hurt people unwittingly. They often are very intellectual people, very smart, sometimes they are where they are now because of being raised in a very intellectual environment, or it maybe they grew up bullied, and the way they learned to deal with it, was to fight back. Of course, everyones different, so its important not to "generalize" and put everyone in the box, like I said in my first blog, these "characters" I am describing, are generalizations and most people will exhibit traights of each, and arrive where they are at today for a host of different reasons. A gunfighter, so to speak, can do a lot of good, often, especially one who is serious about their faith, is often well studied in the Bible, theology, and solid doctrine. These are their "six shooters" so to speak, and when properly applied, are very deadly indeed, but knowledge is a two edged sword. Many Gunfighters in the movies, and even in life, will have at least one friend, or leader that they look up to, and its important that that leader is one wise enough to teach and guide that gunfighter properly, as to when is the best time to "apply" his skills. They are often great at defending the faith, and the church from outside threats from satan, but need that guiding hand to make sure they dont mistake a threat from a young christian. A gunfighter, mature in his faith, will often make excellent elders/leaders of the church. with the right training/friends alongside them. A man, strong in faith and willing to defend it openly, is a valuable asset to any church, but its important we dont leave them alone, because often a church full of Gunslingers will often destroy itself. Every church, needs to be a team. What Gunfighters need wisdom in, is decifering between an honest threat upon the church, and what is not, and the appropriate answer. They need the wisdom to know that not every situation requires a quick draw, and often soft words will go a lot farther to accomplishing your goal, then a mountain of self righteous Bible verses. That you can't beat the Bible into someone, no matter how tempting it is. They also, need to resist the urge to go it alone-because many gunfighters do like to go it alone, and realize they are strongest in a team with other people of different strengths and weaknesses. Gunfighters, if left unchecked can destroy a church, but with the right support and Godly wisdom, can be crucial to their strength. Like in the movies, there is often more then one, and sometimes, theyre not on the right side, and sometimes they maybe on the right side, but haven't learned how to play well with others. Time, love, and Godly wisdom often will bring them together if their hearts are in the right place. There are a few characters in the Bible, whom I believe are very much "gunfighters" The most famous, probably, is King David. While we can see in his psalms, he was a very intelligent, loving man, we can see from his life was very much a warrior, willing to fight for what he believed, and sometimes it got him in trouble, but when He kept God as his focus, did great things for the nation of Israel. The Apostle Peter, for instance, is a prime example of a gunfighter, everything from slicing off the gaurds ear, arguing to be Christs right hand man, to denying Him, for his mistakes, but more importantly, his devout loyalty to Christ, willingness to jump out of the boat to go to Him without even thinking about it, to yes, charging to Christs defense in gethsemene, without so much as a second thought, and after Christs return, and the early church, his standing steadfast to the faith, against all opponents, regardless of what opposition he took. Early on you see with Peter, his "gunfighter" traights getting him in trouble, but later on, once he learned how to apply them with wisdom and love, they became a strength Another example of a New Testament Gunfighter, is the Apostle Paul. He actually was a picture perfect example of a "gunfighter" he traveled, but rarely alone, but at the same time not around a lot of people when he traveled. He started many churches, but usually only kept one or two close people around to encourage him and help him in his journeys. He spoke the gospel wherever he went, and was not afraid to stand firm and defend that gospel, such as what he did at mars hill in Acts 17:22-31 All gunfighters need to learn wisdom and love, when defending the gospel, and that is where having a good team of friends around is a necessity for them. Some important verses to keep in mind for the "gunfighters" out there, especially the passage in Timothy. 1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Matthew 10:27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. Jude 1:3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. Philippians 1:15-16 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: 16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: 2 Timothy 2:23-26 23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

  4. How on earth do I get through to people that they are disrespecting my boundaries and causing me intense frustration!? One friend I have know for 30yrs, we have been really close but never really knew each other (we live in different states and have not seen each other in 17yrs). We have both been through abusive marriages, I am still in mine, she is now a widow. Anyway, this woman is NAGGING me to the point of complete exasperation! What about, prayer! She is trying to micro manage my life, is very bossy to the point of becoming controlling; I had NO IDEA that she was like this at all! Yes, I have told her how I felt about it, even expressed my ire and frustration, I spoke my thoughts clearly, but she is not honoring my words, my words return to me as powerless! I feel disrespected and completely unheard. Now I am avoiding her phone calls, because I just do not know what to do!? Anyone have any insight to share with me? I can't avoid her forever, that just does not solve anything now does it. But, I need a break from her incessant nagging and harping! People like this have ALWAYS intimidated me, I cow down to them and get where I literally cannot talk to them at all (that is a life long problem)!

It is a misrepresentation of scripture and of Jesus. It is extremely tacky and offensive statement on your part. 1 Corinthians 2:1 ( ESV ) And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom.

  9. No, this is not Biblical teachings. You don't have a choice in the matter of the "rapture" as those who subscribe to this teaching or interpretation. If you are a born again saint, how can you be left behind. Will not all, every single believer be raptured according to the belief. Is it not only unbelievers, who would be left behind, you don't have a choice in the matter. So in fact, only the Lord knows who is saved and would be raptured . If a person is a doubter in the rapture, does it make him a unbeliever. What about the people who are in the middle, like me. I do not pay too much attention to this , as i don't have a choice, it is the Lord to decide. I am to do what is required of me here as a born again believer with the tools and graces given here to occupy, i.e repentance, sanctification, justification, hope, faith and the rest. The Lord know who are his and he will act accordingly. Why the preoccupation with a word that believers have become entangled with and fuss over. There are many well respected Theologians that holds opposite views, and these are men who have been in study of scripture most of their lives. Taking the mark has nothing to do with the rapture as such, but allegiance to whom is your Lord and savior. If you are sealed with the Holy Spirit, the mark is of no relevance to you, only to unbelievers.

  15. Ok, here's my story: Shortly after my husband died, a married friend of his (supposedly a Christian) propositioned me. Seriously, he was trying to talk me into an affair with him! I was shocked and horrified, and I wanted desperately to inform his wife (I had always liked her and merely tolerated him). However I had no way of contacting her without running the risk of winding up talking to him instead. So I prayed and asked the LORD to have her get in touch with me. A good bit of time went past, and one day she called me! I didn't know what to say or how to tell her what her husband had done. Turned out she'd called me to tell me know her husband had passed away. So I just offered her sympathy and said nothing about his unGodly offer. She was already reeling from losing him; why should I add to her grief? Anyway, my counsel would be to leave it in the LORD's hands and see if He makes an opportunity for you to warn her.

  16. I dont think this is fitting. Isnt a vessel being named for someone happen only after they are deceased? She has become vocal agenda driven anti gun fanatic who uses her fame to get her message across, despite the fact that it was a lack of guns that contributed to the enormity of the crime against her and others that day. (The chief of police in tucson is anti gun and ordered his officers not to have weapons at that event, something the media doesnt report on.) I do think that what happened to her and others was a terrible tragedy and I do not mean to sound like I belittle it, but really what has she done to deserve this except get shot? She was at best a mediocre politician. A 9 yr old girl who was brought there as a special treat died in that tragedy. The vessel should have been named for her instead.

  18. It sounds like this woman is controlling and manipulative. Two very bad qualities This person knows you are a good victim for their negative behavior. I think you should pray for this person and ask God to guide and direct you as to how to proceed. Tell God everything that is on your heart. Then step back and avoid contact until God gives you direction.

  20. It's very unfortunate you have gotten into the situation like this, but I don't see how it's your fault since you were deceived by this man. This is likely a pattern of his and I'm sure that he's done it over and over again. I understand how you feel guilty and want to share this information with his wife but honestly, I don't believe it is your place to do any further damage in this wreck of a marriage. Who knows what's really going on there ? It's very hard for a woman not to have some kind of idea that something like this is going on with her husband. Since you've already broken it all off, and I'm sure you've repented for your part in this, I would stay as far away from this person as you possibly can.

  27. The evidence of death in Earth's geologic Deep-Time (revealed by the fossil record) is not a fact that disproves the Biblical narrative. On the contrary, it cannot be lightly dismissed in an honest and intelligent quest for Biblical truth. Yes, In the beginning God Created the heaven and Earth (Genesis 1:1), but a Rightly-Divided literal reading of the Holy Bible reveals the seven-days of Genesis are not a description of the Earth's original creation, nor are they some enigmatic description of the Earth's geologic history. They are the Holy Spirit's inspired Scriptural account of how the Lord God Almighty regenerated the heavens and Earth after a previous world order was corrupted by Lucifer's rebellion and fall in Earth's ancient past (Isaiah 14:12-16 & Ezekiel 28:13-17). "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." (Genesis 1:2 KJV) The Bible clearly says the Earth was already here before the work of the seven-days even begins. There is a vast time-gap between the first two verses of Genesis. The Genesis Gap Doctrine, commonly called the "Gap Theory" or "Ruin-Reconstruction" interpretation of Genesis, is not a modern-day interpretation of the Holy Bible. It is a theological teaching that was espoused by the fundamental Protestant faith long before Darwin's Theory of Evolution was published; at a time when the modern geological sciences were in still in their infancy. The Genesis Gap Doctrine does not contradict the accepted scientific evidence and observations that indicate an Earth that is at least 4.5 billion years old. It also explains why there is evidence of death observed in the Earth's fossil record extending at least three-billion years back into Deep-Time. Genesis 1:2 is the Holy Bible's first mystery. And the precise wording of this New Testament cross-reference to Genesis 1:2 provides the Biblical basis for correctly interpreting the full truth of the matter: "For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men." 28. I'm glad to read of these rallies. Reminding the Muslim community here that we are a free country with a Constitution is important. Sharia is discriminatory. These Muslim Imam's and others that are concerned about discrimination are I think playing the victim card here. When they know very well Sharia has no tolerance for everyone who is not Muslim. But these planned rallies are executing a free speech platform that isn't allowed in Muslim dominated countries. That's what they're opposed to I think. How dare we say we're not ever going to allow Sharia to become law here. How dare we not.

Before he wrote Dianetics, Hubbard was a practicing satanist and the deputy leader of the satanic OTO (founded by the satanist Alistair Crowley) at the Pasadena branch, under the rocket scientist Jack Parsons. They fell out over a large sum of money ($20,000), Hubbard left and decided to found his own religion, so that he could then have full control, as well as access to all the money.

  31. Here in Plymouth in the UK, many evangelicals who attend churches with firm Trinitarian doctrinal statements of faith on their web sites, are themselves non-Trinitarian; usually modalists who claim that Jesus is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Or else they are tri-theists who'll claim that God is three separate persons or separate beings each with his own mind, will, even essence etc. So sadly, most evangelicals simply do not understand the Trinity, and give non-Trinitarian definitions of the Trinity, or unbiblical views about the person of Christ; such as that he has only one spirit (Apollinarianism) or that he is the Father (Modalism) or I was even told at Plymouth Christian Center, which is Plymouth's largest church on their 2012 Alpha course that Christ did not make a full atonement on the cross, he went to hell after dying on the cross and I was told that he then offered a sacrifice to Satan where the atonement was complete. The influence of GOD TV and vile American TV preachers who also have unbiblical views of the Trinity, as well as teaching both compulsory tithing and signs and wonders (miracles) has been truly horrific. Many people, such as myself have simply walked out of "church" never to return, as they (I ) realize that much evangelicalism is focused upon subjective, touchy-feely feelings and bears more in common with ancient Gnosticism than with creedal Christianity. When Christians were martyred for their faith in the first three centuries, they died defending objective, literal and real facts; such as Christ's literal and physical bodily resurrection, or that Christ was both fully God and fully man, or his literal, personal and physical imminent second coming. Most of today's evangelicals, here in Plymouth and in the South-West of the UK have completely abandoned facts, evidence or proof, and their evangelical religion is feminized mush of hyper-emotions and their own subjective (often mystical) feelings, which they get hyped up by loud pop music every Sunday morning when they sing songs reminiscent of "Jesus is my boyfriend music" which even the few weak beta-males who haven't yet abandoned the fellowship completely to the dominant women seem to enjoy singing. One has to shake your head with sadness, thinking of the ancient martyrs in the arena being asked by the Roman soldiers: "Are you willing to die for your faith?" Only to then hear the reply: "Yes, I get warm feelings in my tummy, whenever I sing the "Jesus is my boyfriend music" every Sunday, and so yes, I will never deny my own subjective mystical feelings, as what I think and how I feel is a million times more important to me than telling people truthful objective facts about Jesus, so yes, go ahead crucify me, I will gladly die testifying to the Lordship in my own life, of my own subjective feelings over all and any objective truth." Oh my, is it any wonder why Christianity is dying here in the UK and the Muslims (who reject post-modern feelings, and instead teach lies as objective facts), knowing full well that 99% of the weak feminized and cowardly Christians will never challenge them or their claimed factual statements about Christ (which are actually lies such as he did not die on a cross and he was only a prophet but not God and man)!

  34. This has been written for some time, but this piece of what Pat has written here is "timeless". I would say what he has written is indeed insightful and (not but) i like to add. I think, there is "the loner" inside each of us; just to a different degree, just like what Pat has said, "each loner is different". There is part of us where we would want to be "left alone". There are some "loners" out there who do not hide themselves physically from people at all. They laugh, joke, voice out their opinions and well they may even be one who takes the centre stage or are often, (if not always) , the centre of attention. These people often make their presence felt, it seems like they "have it all", but nothing is further from the truth. Behind the scenes, they fight their own battles in life, where they silently struggle, their battles unknown to many. These type of loner understands for they usually have the best of both worlds; putting some part of themselves "out there" and some part locked "in there". Perhaps this is true for the majority of us. I am one such person. Now going back to pat's article... oh i certainly agree that once we reach out to the loners or "hermits", as they are often described, we would be amazed at what they have to offer. I personally have had and still have the experience of reaching out to them. More often than not, they become the source of comfort or a pillar of strength for me instead! They amaze me with their intelligence and "who would have thought they actually have deep understandings on matters that even "normal everyday people" are not aware of. And yes, as reserved or as expressionless they seem on the outside, they have a broken, battered heart that is filled with emphaty, compassion, love and understanding within them. (i could add more adjectives here.. but we all get the point). When chanelled correctly, they can indeed be an instrument that God can use to richly bless others. I personally can say they have been such a blessing for me in my life. God can use anyone living under any condition or circumstance to impact people's lives at any place, any time. To these loners who has deeply enrich my life, i take this opportunity to praise God and thank you from the bottom of my battered and broken heart for being there for me, for noticing me, for being my guiding light.

  36. This Psalm in its entirety reflects coming from the time when David was fleeing for his life from Saul. If it were to be taken as a prophecy, seeing that David was a King of Israel, it would be more in regards to Israel being safe in the wilderness than anything else. However since David talks about being surrounded by his enemies it is most likely from the time when Saul was hunting him. God bless

  38. Hi Ricky You know, we need to trust our Lord in everything. He has given us His Life. This means that we believe, trust, pray, read His Word, follow His commandments, praise Him, worship Him in everything we turn our hands to. If things do not turn out the way we want them to, then we re-do the above and on, ad infinitum. We don't let disappointments get us down, but continue to do all we can, because now, and in Heaven, awaits our Great Redeemer, our Great Treasure, our Pearl of great price, and "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us." Rom. 8:18. I never question my faith. In my nearly 40 year journey with the Lord, He has never let me down. My husband and I both need serious physical healing. Though I continue to thank Him for it, it is yet to be made manifest. It doesn't matter to me. My faith does not depend on what He could do, but what he has done! Thank Him for all the blessings you do have - the best one being that He has saved you! I don't mean to say we don't all have trials and tribulations, but that He holds our hands through it all and will be with us, even unto the end of the age. Blessings, brother.

  40. You can respect the life of another human being, but not because they are in authority. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. When men and women become world leaders, they demand our respect and homage. I demand their bio, references, extensive background check, mental health assessment including Hare's check list for psychopathy, employment history, and first born son (joke). We respect leaders foolishly, their humanity yes, their power no. Look at Hitler...people idolized him and he butchered 12 million. Don't get caught up in this respecting authority nonsense. You are deserving of respect when you respect others underneath you.
