  1. Did you hear about the four baby kittens who fell through the roof just as the family was going to evacuate due to hurricane Michael in Florida? The family had no idea that the tiny kittens were up in the attic. They are at the animal shelter and looking for homes. Then last night employees at a bank in China were having a meeting. A long and lively Python fell down from the ceiling in the midst of the employees! They scattered. A snake handler came in and retrieved the snake which had gone under a sofa.

  2. We live out in the boonies. Years back while still in our 'temporary' trailer house, we often got visitors from the wild kingdom. Had a snake come in the house once, crawled into the kitchen, up to the top of a file cabinet, where my wife's and daughters bird cage sat. It killed my daughters hand fed tame cockatiel, and swallowed my wife's favorite singing canary. Couldn't get out of the cage with it's swollen belly. Caught that perpetrator and encouraged him to leave. Kids didn't make blanket tents and sleep on the living room floor anymore! Another time one evening I was laying in bed reading and next to me where my wife would later be laying, a juvenile opossum came crawling very non nonchalantly across the bed, over my legs and walked down the hall. Turns out there was a pair that crawled up the hot water vent and had their litter in the plumbing chase, and it was no easy chore persuading the whole family to vacate. We now live our home we built, with a concrete floor, sealed with a hundred tubes of calk, and no more extra tenants (Thank You Jesus!).

  4. He is already there, knowing all things, knowing your need of a mothers comfort. His ways are not man's ways. “Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” (Matthew 6:8) “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor [or Comforter] to be with you forever – the Spirit of Truth.” (John 14:16) “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26) “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:11) Deuteronomy 32:11 "Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, That hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carried them on His pinions. “I will be a Father to you and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:18 & 2 Samuel 7:14) Luke 13:34 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not have it! “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3:1)

  5. This is a teaser for now, showing most of the ingredients. I am making this tonight. As you can see, I have prepped my ingredients. If this turns out well, then I will post the recipe. If not, I suppose I will delete this post. Patience, I am brand new to this kind of cooking. This is designed, to taste okay even without any sauce, but I am bringing a red sauce anyway, just to make sure. I suspect that I will prefer it with red sauce, others might prefer Alfredo sauce. We'll see how it tastes soon.

  7. Greetings to all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Alan, the difference between you and those you are contending with is that they provide chapter and verse for each of their propositions. You, on the other hand, spout off with your knowledge of the pre-trib dispensational system. I know your system much better than you do. I taught it for thirty years. It is built upon assumptions, inference, eisegesis, misunderstandings, and circular reasoning. Your system is not Scripture. It has no authority. That means that you have no Biblical basis for what you say. You, sir, are contending with the very God that you claim to worship. Jesus said, in vain do they worship me teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Your beliefs concerning these things are in opposition to the words of Christ, the apostles, and the prophets. On top of that, your foolish statements only serve to put on display your own ignorance and immaturity. If you would begin to provide support for each of your propositions by referencing explicit statements from the Holy Scriptures, you will find that what you have believed is a house of cards. Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Glory be to Jesus Christ

  8. Your statement denies the witness of Paul: 2 Thes. 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition... You say the church must be gone "before the man of sin [The antichrist] can come." Paul says "our gathering together unto him [our Lord Jesus Christ] ... shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed..."

  9. It's funny how people assume someone is talking about salvation by works just because they are agreeing with obedience. It's not an either/or kind of thing. Obedience doesn't contradict salvation by faith, and salvation by faith doesn't contradict obedience. The word of God is clear....if you sow to the flesh you will reap destruction and if you keep on wilfully sinning after coming to a knowledge of the truth, there is NO. MORE. SACRIFICE. FOR SINS. Not me saying this...it's scripture.......SO just obey the Lord and sow to the Spirit then. Your choice. End of argument.

  10. Emperor Constantine was as the horseman who conquered with a bow (but no arrows). Revelation 6:2 (AV) 2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. Daniel 8:25 (AV) 25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. Jeremiah 6:14 (AV) 14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. Jeremiah 8:11 (AV) 11 For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. Church history took a wrong turn from this point forward. And from this "legalization" of Christianity came the Roman Catholic Church. Not counting the bloody history since Constantine... the Protestant scourges, pogroms, the inquisition, crusades... Constantine conquered through peace... but it was nevertheless hostile.

  11. The desire of every heart that is after God; To live before Him in sinlessness. 1 Corinthians 4:4 (NKJV) For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord. Paul so speaks of himself that “he knew of nothing against himself.” Than he goes on to say that just because this is so, doesn’t mean he's justified before God. Or in other words just because he knew of no sin in his life. Didn’t mean he didn’t have any. Just he wasn’t aware of any till the Lord touched this or that part of his life that still needed to be perfected. But to be able to say as Paul said of himself “I know nothing against myself”. Does seem to be a bar that Paul raised as a standard for all Christians. For we are all called to walk in newness of life. What can newness of life mean, except something new, that we were incapable of walking in before. Was Paul bragging when he stated this truth, or was he stating a simple truth that was available for all Christians? That we, as His people, might walk, and know what it means to walk in newness of life. Blessings to all that call on His name, in Spirit and truth. Much love in Christ, Not me

  12. https://www.quora.com/Is-it-true-that-the-number-666-is-related-to-Roman-Emperor-Nero in the first century AD, the Emperor Nero *specifically* was seen as a horrible person and persecutor of Christians. Christians of the first century had such strong negative feelings towards Nero that some even feared that he would come back from the dead to terrorize them more. To Christians in the first century, the imagery in Revelations would have been obvious. The “Whore of Babylon” who sat on seven mountains (Revelation 17:9 “The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.”) would have obviously represented the city of Rome itself, which famously sat on seven hills.

  13. The rich young ruler and others to whom Jesus spoke were still under the Hebrew law. Christ had not yet died for their sins. We are now born again by grace through faith. Our salvation is a gift of God, not of works. Rom 6:23 AMP For the wages which sin pays is death, but the [bountiful] free gift of God is eternal life through (in union with) Jesus Christ our Lord. I was always taught it is not a matter of faith or works, but it is faith that works. When we are born again and attached to the Vine, we cannot help but bear fruit. It is Christ in us Who produces fruit through us. True, we are become more fruitful and Christlike as we mature. We need to be in the Word continually and in constant communion with Him. This is abiding in Him. When I was new to walking with God He was revealing new truths in Scripture on a regular basis. But there came periods that were "dry". It was then that God was showing me that I needed to apply that which I already knew to do. My testimony is almost identical to Omega's on page 1. He expressed it so much better than I can. But I will add that God never tells us anything that is contrary to Scripture. Simply put, we are to love God and love others, and to rely on Jesus. 1Jn 3:23 ESV And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. 1Jn 4:10 AMP In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins. 1Jn 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1Jn 4:12 AMP No man has at any time [yet] seen God. But if we love one another, God abides (lives and remains) in us and His love (that love which is essentially His) is brought to completion (to its full maturity, runs its full course, is perfected) in us!

We spend time together every day and he is my strength when I feel lonely. My lifetime companion has gone on home several months ago. Her picture is on my desk and her smile brightens my day. Three days after the funeral I picked up my daily Bread devotion and was shocked when the title for the lesson was. Goodbye by for now. You see she is not gone forever, only for a while and we will be together again with Jesus at our side. I pray this comforts someone. 21. What must I do to get into Heaven? I have a young daughter who asks me the same thing. This is what I tell her.Its a simple little thing that is easy for young “ and” old to remember.Believing the following ten words will get you saved forever. If we let one one finger on each hand represent one word it goes like this: These are the five words for one hand—“ Jesus died for my sins.” On the other hand, using each finger to stand for the remaining five words—“Jesus rose from the dead”. Yeah , I know it’s corny, but kids seem to like it and it is something they can remember and carry with them the rest of their lives. Now , for the rest of their lives they can show others in a simple, easy-to-remember way, how they know they are forever saved. The Gospel in a nutshell— Jesus promised this using Paul as His spokesman and all we have to do is believe it and never add anything to it. An adult version of this little game can be found in 1cor15:1-4.

  29. @joshhmusic Brother, if it makes you feel any better, I'm 36 and I've only been in one serious relationship with a Christian lady. I have had crushes before and after that, but most of my crushes would have boyfriends soon after I liked them. I had an average of one major crush (yes, I classified my crushes) in each of the 5 years of high school (grade 8-12), although I was an unbeliever until early 20s. You're 16, and I understand the urge to have a girlfriend at that age and afterwards. Even now I'm still waiting for "the one" from God and doing my best to resist my urge to date anyone I like. You're still young (you may be tired of hearing this, but it's true) and you have a long and bright future. Be patient and trust in His guidance. Meanwhile, enjoy your eternal Beloved in Christ Jesus, who used His life and blood to betroth you to be forever His bride. Seek for the heavenly things but not the things on Earth, such as Earthly relationships that only last a lifetime. He will give to you if it's in His will and for your good. Faith on, bro! This is for us both!

  31. Hi, I think you asked a question inviting responses. My own point is that more often than not the context along with the historical setting, and knowledge of the culture of the people being addressed, help narrow and make sense of that which is being shared. In isolation, and without context of knowing what the overall topic is and why it was being addressed most any verse can be altered to fit most any preconceived desire for it's use. Context tends to limit that license. Commentary is often helpful in learning of the fuller context and the culture and people being addressed directly as aid in our later use today.

  32. If we come to the Lord in repentance when we are aware of any sin He cleanses us every time. The problem is with those who maintain that because Christ died for their sins nothing they do from the time they begin to have faith in Him for salvation counts as a sin. This false notion contradicts Scripture. 1Jn 1:5-10 (5) This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. (6) If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: (7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin. (8) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (10) If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

  34. I'll say this from my own experience, and what was passed on to me by others inside and outside the recovery groups. There were times when I didn't wanna hear it but I needed to. 1. The only time most folks will seek help is when it hurts too bad to keep avoiding it. 2. Jesus will help you, but you have to show up for the battle. Plenty of examples of that in the OT. God fought the battle, but He still expected the Israelites to show up. (Think about the Jericho story.) A person has to step out in faith and trust the Lord, in other words. 3. If you don't feel at home in one (recovery) group (or church in this case) then ask the Lord's direction and try another! 4. It took me a year and a half to find the church I go to now. 1.5 years of wasted Sundays during a time when I had little money, little to no fellowship, no car, and a mountain bike and a bus card. God provided, but I had to go look just like the Israelites had to show up for the battle. 5. It's very likely positive change will not happen until a person steps out in faith and starts trying to do the next right thing while trusting that the Lord will provide what's needed.

As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. Sometimes we get a little slap happy with "greasy grace." While God keeps us by His grace, He expeects us to follow Him by obeying Him as much as we possibly can. That's all He asks and it looks as if that's what He asked of you.

  44. We are born sinners. That taint is imperfection. Imperfection, keeps us out of Heaven. I do not even know what you mean by willful sinning. You say you no longer willfully sin, that is great, but do I read between the lines, that you still sin un-willfully? With regard to entrance into heaven, what the OP was addressing, there is one way to get to Heaven, you must be sin free, willful or not, is irrelevant. I use the analogy of a gallon of pure white paint. Add just one drop of black paint in the the white paint, and it is no longer pure white. It is tainted, and is not, some shade of gray. Using that those shade of gray as illustration of our sin. None pf us are pure black, no one is totally evil, without a trace of good. We are all some shade of gray, we are all sinners and none of us will ever get into heaven in that condition. We get into heaven, by being perfect, and that is not something we can do. That puts us into a desperate condition, that we cannot change. Romans 3: 10 as it is written, “THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; 11 THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; 13 ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE.” Since there is not even one, that means there are no exceptions, none righteous, and no one will enter heaven, we are ALL lost . . . UNLESS . . . if only there were someone who could cleanse of our unrighteousness, someone who could wash away our sins, and make us white again. The prophet Isaiah, anticipated that this would come to pass: "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool. The writer of Hebrews informs us And according to the Law, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. The Bible, from beginning to end, Genesis to Revelation, reveal the cure for our predicament, that one day, the Messiah would come, and shed His own blood, as a sacrifice for the sins of many, that Messiah was (and is) Jesus. The blood of Jesus washes away the sins of believers so that they will enter heaven. It is impossible for us to earn entrance, it is not even possible that we will truly seek God, unless He does that work in us. Those who think they can get there on their own, are tragically deceived, and are also robbing God of the glory that is due only to Him. So, back to "willful" sinning. What other kind do you do? Does someone else force you to sin? If you lie, cheat, steal, curse, are are angry without cause, if you do not seek God with all of your heart, etc. whose decisions are those, if not your own? Sin originates inside us, before we even act, we have already sinned in our hearts. It is the heart, that God looks at, so even if we live perfect lives (we don't) we still sin in our hearts, and deserve Hell. That is a tough message, a hard pill to swallow, and we do not like it, but that is the truth. For those who believe though, there is this (1 Cor 10:13): No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. That is great. That tells us that indeed, we do not have to act out the sins we are tempted to do, but, the truth is we do. That promise though, helps us identify the fact that when we sin, we chose to, for God has given us the ability to resist temptation. The great news though, the gospel, is that Christ died for us to guarantee that true believers, those who place their trust in Him as their savior, and live with Him as the Lord of their lived, those, He has purchased their entrance into heaven. Not by our works, but by His work.

  45. It is important, to obey Him, that is what Christians do by virtue of their new nature, when He gives them His Holy Spirit. However, it is not the obedience that gets you into heaven, you cannot live sinlessly, and sinless perfection is what is required for heaven. God brings His children to heaven, but virtue of the new birth that He performs. When you believe by faith in Him, in Jesus, and in Jesus resurrection from the dead, you are born again, and this, not of yourself, it is the gift of God, by grace, through faith. THEN you will live a victorious life. It will not be sinless, but you will sin less. You will hate your sins, and try hard to not repeat them. You will be sorry, and confess those sins, and those sins will be forgiven you. The born again person (a true follower of Christ) enters eventually into Heaven, because Jesus took that persons' sins upon Himself, and Jesus gave His righteousness to His followers. Henceforth, the enter into Heaven, perfect, because the righteousness of Jesus, as been credited to their account. It is not us, it is all Him. It is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

  46. Fairly early in my Christian walk, was probably the second time I "heard" the voice of God. What I mean by that, is that there are lots of ways to hear God. When I read the Bible, and accept what it says, I am hearing God. When I have a real conviction about something that I am doing or saying, that is not proper, I am hearing God. When I listen to a sermon, and it quickens in me new ideas, not from the pastor but instead awakened in my understanding, i believe I am hearing from God. Hearing from God, will never contradict what He reveals in His word to us. However, the hearing that I am describing, was not general in nature, but personal to me. It was not thoughts in my mind like normal experiences, nor was it audible sound. It was however something I heard, and not of myself as near as I can tell, and it was in response to a question I asked of God, which was something like: "Lord, what is your will for my life, what do you want me to do?" What I then "heard" was: "My child, you already know the things things I would have you do. Be diligent in those, and I will give you more!" Now, I just quoted the above, but I do not mean to imply that those were His exact words, only that this is the gist of them, from memory, and that was in 1982 or 1983 I think. I took that as a gentle rebuke, as well as a promise. It was a rebuke, because He was right, I was not doing my best to obey Him, and I was in fact, in habitual sin. However, He has proven faithful, encouraging and enabling my growth in Him, and bringing me other specific things to do for His glory and the furtherance of His will being done on Earth as it is in Heaven. God is so good!

  47. Shalom, As I've been reviewing threads in recent weeks, it's amazing to me how fast the term -- "false teacher" and "heretic" are used to slander the brethren on "non-essentials" of the faith. When these terms are used they should be only used on salvational issues. If you read our Statement of Faith -- or the Apostles Creed -- these are what I would term "essentials" of the faith. These essentials are the core values of every born-again believer and shouldn't be issues of debate. However, there are MANY other issues that are up for "discussion". What do I mean discussion points -- well things that are not clearly defined in Scripture -- and in these discussions often are shut down because of the lack of fruit within them. One of the most debated subjects is the "timing of the rapture." In my walk with the Lord, I've found a great many saints that had various viewpoints on these issues. Many of whom, I would consider Fathers of the faith -- however, I may have disagreed with them over different points of view. For example, one of the saints I admire, R.A. Torrey wrote a book called the "Person and the Work of the Holy Spirit". In the midst of his ministry, actually changed his rapture position from Pre-Tribulation to Post-Tribulation. Now his book, the Person and the Work of the Holy Spirit was written during his time when he taught the "pre-trib" position -- however, he changed his position at the end of his life. So is this book no longer "valid" -- because he changed his positions? Absolutely not! His book, the Person and the Work of the Holy Spirit radically changed my approach to the Holy Spirit and how to walk the Spirit-Filled life. Amazingly, he was the first superintendent of Moody Bible Institute -- and yet they don't teach what He taught any longer. But by understanding his life, and his walk, I came away with this understanding as Paul so eloquently wrote -- "1Co 8:2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know." So if R.A. Torrey was alive today ... he would have been called by some on both sides of the rapture debate a heretic at different times of his life! ... continuing this thought process

  48. A Son or Daughter can decide to willingly serve their Father.. but a Son of Daughter does not then suddenly become a mere servant simply because they are serving their Father.. To their Loving Father they will always be their Daughter or Son..

  49. Simulacra and Simulation (Wkpd)...pure simulacrum, in which the simulacrum has no relationship to any reality whatsoever. Here, signs merely reflect other signs and any claim to reality on the part of images or signs is only of the order of other such claims. This is a regime of total equivalency, where cultural products need no longer even pretend to be real in a naïve sense, because the experiences of consumers' lives are so predominantly artificial that even claims to reality are expected to be phrased in artificial, "hyperreal" terms. Any naïve pretension to reality as such is perceived as bereft of critical self-awareness, and thus as oversentimental.
