  1. I've debated with myself since this thread went up as to whether or not I would post, but since it continues to irk me, I figure I should. I don't know where the OP gets his facts from but perhaps he should post links for us all to see those numbers. Let's also remember, that many of the same things that are being said about the women of the church can be said of the men in the church (if not more so). I've known many Christian men who were willing to chase an attractive woman and casually toss aside their "faith" to have a relationship with them. I'm also bothered by the fact that we seem to be criticizing the ones who've fallen and further trying to put them to shame for past failure. Let's not forget that Jesus bent and knelt in the dirt for the one who was caught in the act of adultery (drop your stones). If they're forgiven by Him, then we shouldn't be putting them to further shame. None of us can stand perfectly righteous outside of His blood and we all have things we've done that cause us to come up short. And since I'm single and it's said that all single Christian women are looking for the "bad boy type" .... let me disprove that for you. We're not looking for bad boys - we're looking for REAL MEN... and sadly they seem to be a dying breed, both in the church and outside of the church. I personally feel like this thread does nothing to edify or build up the sisters in the body of Christ. It just demeans and paints a poor picture of them. Perhaps I'm taking it the wrong way but I just don't think we need to be further demeaning or ridiculing an entire gender of people based upon facts that haven't been proven to be true. I think we do live in a world that makes it difficult to be a "devout" Christian girl but instead of tearing them down why don't we try to build them up. I think there's more ladies out there who have their hearts set on God and pursue Him and His righteousness daily than this thread is implying. Just my thoughts.

  2. The Orthodox Jews of Jesus' time were extremely reluctant to allow any work be done on what they used to consider the seventh day of the week. The Sabbath was a day for worshiping in the temple. At first glance, many words of Jesus seem to us childishly simple to understand, and we marvel why His contemporaries had difficulty with their meaning. Jesus healed several sick people on the Sabbath and, as if this were not enough to upset the religious authorities, He even commanded one of them to carry his own bed during the Sabbath day. While those around Him may have wondered why healing could not be postponed, these people had been sick for years, Jesus treated the afflicted as total emergencies. He illustrated the same urgency on other occasions, as well. Apostle Paul, interpreting an Old Testament verse regarding oxen asks, "Doth God take care of oxen?" (I Cor. 9:9), and appropriately reinterprets it spiritually. Those who are spiritually alert will figure out that “the falling of an ox into a well” is not a Jewish problem of 2,000 years ago, rather confronts us unceasingly. The very moment we open our eyes, forms confuse our sight, sounds enchant our ears. Selfishness occupies our narrow views. Jesus told His contemporaries that there is no day of rest so long as suffering exists, since it can spoil such rest. Let us not just seek Christ and take advantage of the salvation He freely grants us. Let us also see Him in our suffering brethren. Unless we consider any suffering as an urgent predicament, we have not even started to fathom what religion is all about, as Jesus so graphically illustrated. Pastor Richard Wurmbrand

  3. Accounts such as the ones you mention here, are the only encouragement I find in these forums. There are massive wrongs in this world, many, even most, suffer. Much of it as the result of humans. The chain of guilt and blame and judgement will never end, except by forgiveness. Richard Wurmbrand is a glimpse of the city that has foundations. Abby's act of outrageous forgiveness is a glimpse of the city. I had not heard that about Sabina before (or forgot, it has been many, many years since I read the main book). That is another beautiful glimpse, a verification of the Gospel. People who are suffering, and have no hope of escaping the suffering, need to see that the Kingdom of God still has a movement. Like John the Baptist, whom Jesus called the greatest man, when in prison, sending to Jesus to ask, are you really the one? One finds just enough strength to face the darkness, with a renewed glimpse of the light. lftc

  5. Brother, I too have suffered, but we all do according to how Jesus allows. I have had things happen to me that I know people would never believe. I have witnessed and have been part of in the scientific community things that left me fearfully overwhelmed. I never speak of those things just like my father in WWII never wanted to tell me about the German soldier he had to kill to stay alive. There are things left unsaid because of the pain remembered. I appreciate you thinking of me as I have you from time to time. I have always appreciated you. I can tell you that Richard Wurmbrand was a beyond phenomenal giant of the faith and a man who is my modern hero. I have written to his son, Michael, several times, who lives in Romania and was subject as a boy being left out to die while both his parents were in prison for their love for Jesus. When the husband of a family was imprisoned, no allowance was given to a family by the government to sustain them. Richard was told that his son was dead, and his wife Sabina turned to prostitution---none of it was true. Sabina forgave the man who killed her entire family, and in tears brought him to Christ. I could go on, but just to say that like @Abby-Joy, who shared her heart of the many things in her life that were unimaginably true, so I say absolutely they can be just as she described. I have a heart for my sister who many have denied. There are truths in this world too hard to fathom, and it is why when there come times of persecution, then Christians understand a small impact of the price our beautiful Savior paid for us. Thank you so much for asking.

  6. I am not included......The Law “ shut me up” a long time ago...."I can’t keep it......I am a degenerate sinner, a wretched man who needs a “ loophole” because my performance really sucks. Thanks be to God, I found the Loophole. I can’t be perfect and trying to be perfect only shows me how that “ fool’s errand” is beyond my sinful reach. No, I can’t “ make the grade” by turning over a new leaf, but I found something that I “ could” do. It ain’t easy, but at least it is possible .I discovered that if I took a Promise Of God, such as 1cor15:1-4, I could simply believe it , not add to it and rest in it and in return for that Faith , even though I am not righteous by any stretch of the imagination, God would “ declare” me “ righteous” because of my Faith. What a Deal I found! Jesus took all my sins upon himself at the Cross - paying the price for all the sins I would ever commit and in turn , gave me His Perfection. That wondrous Grace is the only incentive I need to try to live right.I have no need to take the Law, divide it up and bring it down to a level I foolishly think I can keep.I am done with the Law.....it did it's job in my life.....It shut me up because I was blessed by God with the insight to see and admit that I could not keep it.....then it lead me to Jesus..... “ Christ is the END OF THE LAW for righteousness to all those that BELIEVE”.We are saved by Grace, not by obedience to an impossible system. It’s time to shut up about the Law.Its Faith in Jesus- Plus Nothing!

  13. Thanks Abby-Joy for being courageous in sharing and educating people on what many people are not yet aware . I just checked the name:Michael Aquino and found a youtube video interview of him titled: In Dialogue: Dr. Aquino in which he speaks so nice and tries to present the book of satan as a very good book and that he as a satanist is good to animals and likes to see a better kinder world. Speaking about the freedoms and philosophical concepts of the Egyptians and of Plato, and the greatness and humanity of Cyrus, and making it all seem so nice. This is what the devil does, he comes in sheep's clothing and tries to fool as many as he can. I really don't know to much on this man only a bit form this video. but from what he mentions in the youtube interview video he tries to portray himself and his belief, and his bible of satan as being very noble and good. I can see people with no firm foundation in Gods Word can easily fall for such worldly enticements. Scary.

  15. Most "goody goody" Christian girls are incredibly naive. Others hope to change the bad guy. That is also being naive. Only God can change them. Most pity the bad guys, as God pities us all who are lost and need salvation. They don't understand yet that pitying love comes from God and they should let guys minister to guys; in other words, they don't understand how dangerous guys can be and how gullible they themselves are. Nor do they understand how strong a guys sex drive is because women think in terms of marriage, a home and family; even when girls like that are flirtatious they don't necessarily think in terms of sex. They want a guy's friendship. Most don't even understand yet that just because a guy comes from a Christian family, it doesn't mean they are born again. I have listened to many girls who were raped by someone they met at church. Some feel very fallen, that no one would want them afterwards, or even that God would never forgive them. They can't forgive themselves. This is not only true of church girls who are baby Christians. I have talked to women that were not Christians and not raised in Christian homes that felt the same way as far as feeling fallen and had a very low opinion of themselves after sex outside of marriage. They often feel totally worthless so they sleep around afterwards. That is their words.

  16. Many years ago the verse "by His stripes we are healed" was said to mean Jesus also bought us health from sickness & disease. Healing ministers would say if we don't get better it's bc we don't really believe it. I'm not so sure they are correct. But suppose a believer is in prayer 1 night and he thinks he hears the Holy Spirit talking to him. I am convinced this happens to us, although not by our will or needs, but as God wants it to it does happen. I knew a man who was always sick with every cold and flu bug going around. It sure made it hard for him to hold down a job, luckily he didn't have to. He still hated being sick. He says that 1 night he heard God tell him, in his spirit, that he doesn't have to be sick Jesus did it for him. I figured he was imaging things as he was wont to do. But a few months later, due to a death in his family, he suddenly had to hold down a job, hold a job or become homeless. He took a grueling 12 hr a day job. A few yrs later he said he still had that job. I asked how he did it. He said the Lord made it possible for him to not get sick with any minor ailments anymore. It seems almost beyond belief. But when God wants a thing to happen, it surly will. This guy doesn't lie.

  17. To whom should family heirlooms be passed to, when they have traditional obligations or conditions attached? There once was a man, who bought a Bible, back in the 1800’s. It was a big Bible, with places for recording births, deaths, and marriages; in short it became a record of the family tree. As people had children in this family, new generations arose, but, there was just this one family Bible. There was also a gold pocket watch, also of 1800’s vintage, which has some inscriptions in it. Both the Bible and the watch, were handed down to firstborn sons in each generation who also had sons, so that these heirlooms would be continually handed down to those who carried on the family name. This was the intent of the tradition, handed down to males, because males have the family name, while females presumably do not have children until they are married, and their maiden names change to the last name of their new spouse. One man in this family had three sons. The oldest had a son by adoption. The middle son had a son, be natural means. Since that son was in the bloodline of the family, the Bible and watch went to the middle son, with the intention that again; the Bible and watch would be handed done to the natural born son continuing the same last name. The Bible and watch were handed down, to that son, and he still has them. He also has two sons. One of these sons was born before the other, but only by minutes, as they were delivered by Caesarean section of multiple babies. Now, the Bible and watch have not been passed on to either of these sons, primarily because neither of them have sons of their own, or any children, for that matter. The older of the two sons, is not married, and it is not obvious, that this will change. The sons are 32 years old, their father is 69 years old, and longevity is in question. The younger of the sons, is about to be married (within months) so likelihood of children is better there, but no guarantees, and even less guarantees of a male child (some people produce only girls) There is also a daughter who has a son, but is unmarried. Her last name remains intact, and is also her son’s last name. In as much as the man with the Bible and watch has perhaps not many years left to live, and no son has had a son to pass the Bible and watch through, the man is wanting to have this issue settled in his mind – where should the Bible and watch go, if it is not handed down in his lifetime, what should his will dictate? Any ideas, suggestions, wisdom?

  18. Developing relationship; As with all relationships they need to grow and be developed. Same is true with our Heavenly Father. Our relationship when we first come to Him is small unknowing and childlike. This relationship, communication, fellowship needs to grow. This is something we can do. In spite of our failings our doubts and our fears this communication, this one and one fellowship and relating to our Heavenly Father, this coming to Him is something we can do. For this is God’s heart, that we come to Him. For He has promised to come and make His abode in us. We come to Him He on His part comes to us. This desire of our hearts towards Him and His desire towards us meets in the continual state of prayer towards Him. This we can do. This willingness to give all to Him, this utter dependence upon Him, this doing what is right in His eyes... this develops relationship. This being dealt with from above, this is accomplished by the desire towards it. For all of our relationship with God happens in our hearts and the growth of Him there manifests itself by outward behavior. But it all starts in the heart, this is the place of His abode in us. Our hearts. Than as scripture says; “we learn of Him” Be blessed all as this heart relationship with Christ Jesus Himself grows and grows to rule all. In Christ, Not me

  21. I'm sorry this is not so. you are picking things out of the word to justify the sin of unforgiveness. Yes I do read the bible in its entirety. The entire gospel is based upon forgivness. You nor I didn't deserve to be forgiven but because of the love of Christ , we have that amazing opportunity to come before him and receive his forgiveness.Yes we must repent but Jesus himself teaches us in the Lord's prayer: forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. (Matthew 6:12) as well as (1 John 4:7-11. Describes this amazing love for us and that we must backward others) Please also read (Matthew 6:14-15 ) you will not find any conditions except. You will not be forgiven. Also read (Mark 11:25) If you have anything against anyone, forgive him. if someone sins against you, many times they do this because they truly want to hurt you in some way. You in turn, become angry and are hurt by other people. The person who sinned against you isn't remorseful, they purposefully wanted to hurt you. What your saying is, because this person won't repent to you for their wrong, you don't have to forgive them? You can't apply the love of Christ without forgiveness. Remember love covers a multitude of sin.( 1Peter 4:8) Do you think all of those who had Jesus crucified repented before he said (Father for forgive them for they know not what there doing Luke 23:35) no, of course not. Jesus forgives his enemies and we must as well. This is mercy. If you are going by what you wrote, and you will only forgive those who ask you and not Those who do not ask, then I will pray for you. I will also pray for understanding. God is love and to walk in him, we to love with no conditions my friend.

I was always under the impression that Benjamin Franklin invented or came up with the implementation of DST. Here's what was discovered on that. Daylight saving time is one thing that Franklin did not invent. He merely suggested Parisians change their sleep schedules to save money on candles and lamp oil. The common misconception comes from a satirical essay he wrote in the spring of 1784 that was published in the Journal de Paris. G.V. Hudson first invented and promoted modern DST in 1895, 107 years after Benjamin Franklin's passing.

  27. VERSE OF THE DAY: “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” - Psalm 16:11 Fight the Good Fight for Joy By Mark Altrogge Christians should be marked by joy. Joy is one of the fruits of the Spirit. If knowing Jesus doesn’t bring us a deeper joy than those who don’t know him, what’s the point? This doesn’t mean Christians don’t suffer and experience depression, discouragement, sadness and grief. Paul said in 2 Co 6:10 that he was “sorrowful, yet always rejoicing.” So somehow, even in the throes of sorrow, Paul had joy. Jesus promised us joy. “These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11). Ultimately our fullness of joy will be in heaven. But Jesus wants us to know his joy now. Believers begin to produce the fruit of the Spirit in this life, and one of those fruits is joy. Ps 16:11 says “in your presence there is fullness of joy.” Though fullness of joy awaits us in heaven, we begin to taste that joy in this life. So how do we experience Christ’s joy now? As John Piper says, it’s a fight, part of the good fight of faith. Here are some ways to fight: Realize that all lasting joy is found in Christ. Jeremiah 2:13 says “for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.” When we look to anything else but Jesus for lasting joy we’ll come up empty. Abide in Christ. Seek him, walk with him, rest in him, trust him. In John 15:9-11 Jesus said: “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” Take in God’s Word. Jeremiah 15:16 says, “Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart.” God’s word is a conduit of his joy to us. As we continue to take it in, believe and obey it, it becomes a joy and delight. His promises give us hope and make us glad. Thank him and praise him for as much as you can. Thank him for spiritual blessings and material blessings. A thankful heart is a joyful heart. Ask Jesus for joy. As David prayed in Psalm 51:12: “Restore to me the joy of your salvation.” Contemplate your salvation and heaven to come. In Luke 10:20 Jesus said, “Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Tell yourself to hope in God. David took himself by the collar and shook himself in Psalm 42:5-6 and said, “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.” Jesus came for our joy. Sometimes it’s not easy to experience, but if we continue to abide in Christ it will be worth it. No one in heaven will say it wasn’t worth going through what they went through on earth. So don’t give up. Keep fighting the good fight. Editor’s Note: This was adapted from the original article, How to Fight the Good Fight for Joy, found here. https://www.crosswalk.com/devotionals/bible-study-minute/fight-the-good-fight-for-joy-bible-study-minute-july-18-2018.html?utm_source=Christianity.com Daily Inspirations&utm_campaign=Christianity.com Daily Inspirations&utm_medium=email&utm_content=2973785&bcid=5da31583941ac0436f866785e89f41c2&recip=547950175

  34. Good thread Dennis1209. The Biblical theology of all suffering lays the cause at the feet of the first man. When the first man sinned all of Creation became less than perfect and had to be cursed by God. None of us would have faired better than Adam, and now the natural wickedness of mankind will climax every which way it can, until the Lord's return when the curse will be reversed. Romans 8:20 When Adam sinned, his transgression affected not only mankind, but all creation, both animate and inanimate. The ground is cursed. Many wild animals die violent deaths. Disease afflicts birds and animals as well as fish and serpents. The results of man's sin have rippled like shockwaves throughout all creation. Thus, as Paul explains, the creation was subjected to futility, frustration, and disorder, not by its own choice, but by the decree of God because of the disobedience of man's first federal head. (Source: The Believer's Bible Commentary) Rom 8:18-27 (18) For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. (19) For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. (20) For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; (21) because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. (22) For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. (23) Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. (24) For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? (25) But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. (26) Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (27) Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

  37. How should I pass on heirlooms that came with strings attached? This just made Genealogy 101 the most complicated story I've ever heard. I was apparently not destined to have children, but I did inherit my grandfather's Elgin conductor's watch that he had from working on the Sante Fe railroad. No, it isn't high karat gold, but it is a collectable timepiece nonetheless, and with some substantial monetary value. His only son passed away in a head-on collision not far from where Jimmy Dean crashed his 550 Porsche Spyder in Cholame, California. So, when both grandparents came to the care of my mom in their passing years, my grandfather presented it to me not long before slipping into senile dementia. I was admonished not to tell the remaining living aunties in the family, because some jealousy might arise. It's a secret to this day, and neither of the two living aunties I have left has ever questioned me concerning its whereabouts. All the sisters on my mom's side had sons, and I was chosen as the recipient.

Also, in case I passed on before a point, I'd maybe leave it with a trusted one, one who could handle the estate.

  44. I disagree as well, we do have to forgive them. For if we do not forgive we ourselves are not forgiven.

  46. When 9/11 happened, I started to pray, in anger, against islam and muslims. I wanted their destruction.... As I prayed, the Lord showed me that while its ok to pray for their false religion to be destroyed, and for them to not harm anyone, it is not ok for me to pray for them to be destroyed. That I should pray instead that they come to know the true Lord, the true Jesus, and get saved. Failing that, I could also pray that they are not able to harm anyone else. The bible tells us that vengence is the Lord's, not ours. We are to turn the other cheek. Pray for their salvation and pray that they cannot cause harm.
