  1. Greetings to my fellow Board members. We are told by Peter, after having visited Cornelius the centurion and his oikos, that God accepts people from the nations along this criteria. Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that fears him, and works righteousness, is accepted with him. This is the minimum requirement for salvation from people of every nation, tribe and tongue. It is acceptance by God...not that God is well-pleased or even pleased with these...that standard of which is by faith. So then just as the fear of God is the beginning of salvation so is it also the beginning of wisdom. Prov. 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. God is a righteous judge. They who work righteousness and fear the Lord are doing what is humanly possible to be accepted with God. So then to please God takes a lot...it takes faith...but to be saved requires the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord remains the main criteria for a basic salvation. Now some may say that we no longer need the fear of the Lord. But this is not true. There are doctrines circulating around these days that would make us foolish rather than wise. Does faith negate the fear of the Lord? No...as we shall see.

  4. Trusting in the Lord is fighting A good fight of faith. The enemy comes against us and desire's to lesson our faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith pleases God and this is what we want to do. This is our everyday job as A blood bought bible believing born again Christian. The Holy Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Prayer, Lord please grant us a double portion of faith in you. Faith in God means power in us! Much love to you sister's and brother's in Christ!

  5. I am wrong, I am the sinner, this is the starting point. An acknowledgement and seeing of the truth and fact, that all we do, say, think. All that comes from us, anything and everything that comes from the life we received from Adam is wrong and needs to die and be done away with. This is the starting point. A total and complete giving up, or turning from the life of this world, by the faith of the heart to God, with the whole life, will, being, and all that is us. For until this willingness is seen and reached, we are continually trying to fix the old with various methods and devices, rules of taste not touch not, do it this way, no do it that way. This repenting or turning from self to God is the very starting point of all the growth of the new creation. For it does away with all of the contrivances of man to be better or establish a righteousness that he thinks might be pleasing to God. Not yet knowing or seeing that only the righteousness that comes through faith in Christ Jesus is the righteousness that is pleasing to God for it alone is that righteousness that is forever free from all sin. For it is the life of this world that is our separation from God, therefore all of this life must be given up. Until this starting point is reached, all will be putting on a religious coat on a corrupt body, and will only cover the body of sin, but will not cause it to be done away with. For until the plant is pulled up by the roots the plant, in time will grow back and produce what is natural to it, which is the only thing the natural life of this world can produce, which is sin. For our fall into the life of this world was our separation from God, therefore a death to this life and a getting of another is the one and only salvation that is warranted and needed for all of mankind. But praise be to God and the gift of a new life and nature given in His Son. This is exactly what our salvation in Christ consists of, for, this and this alone in it’s entirety was necessary for the destroying the works of the devil that mankind might have a new birth from their second Adam. A new birth and start of a life that was as free from sin as the old creation was free from righteousness. This is the salvation that is available to all that call on His name, a total and complete death to the old that a new birth and nature might grow in it’s place. Which, new life is pleasing to God in all it does. “When Jesus died we died.” When Jesus was raised from the dead, we were raised with Him that we might walk in newness of life, in all we do, say, think, dream, hope, desire. In all of life. For it is righteousness we are called to and only that which produces righteousness in a life is the salvation that we have in Christ. Blessing to all that would be willing to search and see into this mystery of Christ in us our Hope of Glory, which is Christ our life. For God is God, and God is good and getting to know God personally is the issue of life, for nothing less will satisfy the heart of man, for nothing else will produce righteousness in man. Blessings, Much love in Christ, Not me

  7. First, eternal damnation is avoided by TRUSTING JESUS, not YOURSELF, for salvation. Do a "heart check" and let's make sure you're trusted Jesus Christ for eternal life, not yourself! Salvation and overcoming porn have this in common: neither is by works/deeds/efforts, in fact, trying to overcome porn by self-will, reading the Bible, praying more, is a noose that tightens itself around you in an addiction-binge-purge cycle. Just like no one can say, "I swear I'll never sin again, I'll be perfect!" to try to get to Heaven, people also epic-ly fail doing the same thing with porn. Send me a PM if you want help, accountability, to talk--we can support each other in this cause! Porn is not a moral problem--it starts out that way--its a brain problem. You need to retrain your mind. Instead of "I will try so hard not to do this again!", when you are tempted to view porn, tell yourself "Jesus loves me!" and focus on the love of Christ. The love of Christ/power of Christ will save your soul AND help you with porn addiction. THE VERY BEST resource I've seen to overcome porn in decades is at: https://conquerseries.com

  10. We are not being saved to "do nothing" but to be conformed to both the death and life of Jesus Christ who created us. We were created in the image of God...and we are being restored to THAT image. To be holy as God is holy. We were created for good works. Don't always be stuck in beginning mode and what saves one initially. If someone saves you from drowning by pulling you out of the water by the hair....you don't need to always keep having your hair pulled to remain "saved." There is a life IN the Spirit to be lived for the redeemed of the Lord. And it is quite the opposite of "doing nothing." The one who does nothing is like the servant who buried his talent and lost what he thought he had. We are to bear fruit. Not by human effort...but through allowing God's life to take over what we used to call our own. It is His life lived through us that makes for a fruit that lasts. But we will each be judged by our works...what we have done with what we have been given. Those who have received grace will be expected to have produced an abundant fruit. To whom much is given, more will be expected.

  11. True, I agree. There is no true repentance if there is no fear of what happens if you don't repent (by believing in His Word). If there is no fear, then the repentance would only be lip service. Amen! Without this balance there is a lot of irreverence in church today (in general). I'd rather err on the side of reverence and respect than on the side of taking Him for granted and casually.

  12. Amen Pekoudah. Too many focus on the love only and shy away from the fear. This leads to much confusion in new converts as they read the Bible with these "rose-tinted glasses". Yahweh is to be feared first before we can truly love Him. Negating the former is a lack of wisdom and humility.

  13. put some worship songs on. it will help bring the presence of the LORD. i normally sing to the lord for 1 hr and intercession just flows out of intimacy. God has placed music in all his creation. That;s how you best connect with him. the other thing is : its best to set a time to meet with the lord. first thing in the morning is the best because you are giving God the 1st fruit of your time. you will find that you will pray much more that way by having an appointment with the lord and keeping it.

  15. The first thing God will do is increase you love for the lost, and teach you the heights and depths of His love for them. When you love them as He does that love will overcome your reserve, and talking to them about Jesus will flow naturally. You won't have to try. Learn to allow Christ Who lives in you to minister to the needs you see, even if it is to minister to your own family, helping with mom's housework or anything you can do to be of service. We become servants when we surrender to God.

  21. Acts 9:31 So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase. God continued to increase the church. He raised it to a new level. Was the fear of the Lord done away with? NO. God built on it. He edified on it. So then on our part it was the fear of the Lord...and He added in the comfort of the Holy Spirit. How do we get that extra dimension from God? This is by adding faith to the fear of the Lord. That's the way of real advancement. But we can try comforting ourselves by doing away with the fear of God....in which case we don't need His comfort. But it is His presence that comforts us. Why leave God out? We need to receive God as He is...not as we want Him to be. And the presence of God is terror! Yet also unfathomable love. It is both. The true God must be received in both. The enemy can come to us as an angel of light...but there is something missing. He can speak nice things, complimentary things...things that build us up....but in the wrong part of us. In our flesh. But the presence of God causes dread so that you tremble in fear. That is who He is.

  23. All this is assuming that salvation is a one-time transaction. The biblical salvation is a deliverance in a particular situation. So if you are healed of a disease...that is salvation. A broken arm is healed...a deliverance. A demon chased away? That is salvation. A ship sinking....and a survival as per Paul's experience on Malta? A salvation. All who remained in the ship were saved. Were these eternally saved by remaining in the ship? Of course not. The biblical salvation is always in that situation...not forever. I think what is too often confused is salvation and eternal life. Eternal life is a KIND of life that is found by walking in the Spirit as we enter into Jesus Christ to abide in Him. If we drink His blood...partake of His life...we have HIS life in us...an eternal life. And this is for as long as we partake of Him. salvation is something that is an ongoing process. Like when the Israelites came out of Egypt. Were they saved through the Red Sea? Yes! But was that a one-time salvation transaction? Of course not. Almost all the people that were once saved didn't survive the process of being saved TO the promise. So then we must endure to the end to be saved as Jesus said. Right now we are BEING saved...from conformity to the flesh to conformity to the Spirit. Unless one understands these distinctions much confusion arises. If we walk in the Spirit we are walking in the present salvation of a deliverance from the sins we would normally be doing if we were walking according to the flesh. And this idea that holiness or sanctification is optional?....it is like saying after a person is saved from a physical death breathing is preferable but not necessary. To think of a salvation without holiness is like a salvation without God. So then eternal salvation is the process of living a holy life after being redeemed away from this world by Jesus Christ.

  27. And just to add....nobody is saved in a vacuum. We are ALWAYS doing works...whether they be works of the flesh or the Spirit. It is really just one or the other. So there is no such thing as "Jesus plus nothing." It is either Jesus plus the works of the flesh....to an eternal loss. Or else Jesus plus the life in the Spirit which leads to eternal rewards. And we are not saved to do our own thing. That would mean we would be saved IN our sins rather than away from them. Salvation is not meant to serve us and our desires...but to serve God and His will. So in many ways mankind has been trying to wrestle the purpose of salvation away from God and onto ourselves. This is the work of the enemy of our souls.

  28. Jesus did everything necessary for the salvation of the whole world. That was from God..His part that shows His commitment to helping us fulfill His will. God's grace is sufficient now...if you believe God is able to do anything, to conquer sin through a life He is wanting to live through us. We are not saved by just a human belief in what God did for us all. We are saved by entering into the grace that God is offering us. How do we know we have received of His grace? Holiness is the evidence of His presence. We are to seek to enter into Christ so that His holiness shines forth as a light to the world through us. That is the result of faith in the gospel...the POWER of the gospel. The gospel is not just in words...but in power from heaven to walk as Jesus walked.

  29. The Latin phrase extra Ecclesiam nulla salus means "outside the Church there is no salvation".[1][2] The 1992 Catechism of the Catholic Church explained this as "all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is His Body."[3] This expression comes from the writings of Saint Cyprian of Carthage, a bishop of the 3rd century. The axiom is often used as shorthand for the doctrine that the Church is necessary for salvation. It is a dogma in the Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox churches in reference to their own communions. Quote from Wikipedia.

  31. I did not know this thread existed and thanks for drawing my attention to it. As you know, I did take a look and make my remarks. I myself never did pay to much attention to street preachers and thought that they spent an awe full amount of energy and time to preach while no one listened. That has changed over the last couple of years as this one preacher stirred my attention with some of his videos on youtube. He preaches in the city of Toronto where I live. I live on the outskirts of the city and very rarely go into the city. He caught my attention, by the way he presents himself and he engages the people who passes by in respectful manner. There are many educated people who have diverse views of life and I get to hear how people actually think about life from a very wide spectrum. With his dialogue and preaching, he shares the gospel in ways that reaches all levels of people. I have heard him dialogue with scientist and doctors and panhandlers, muslims and more. I have learned quite a number of things that I did not know before and also some ways on how to evangelize without offending people. So, IMO , street preachers can reach many who has given up and would not enter into a church door. They are a voice that can reach many who are hurting and the street is where they hear the word. They stop on their way from work ect. and who knows how many are saved by hearing the word . To each on his opinion about those men who go out without fear and spread the word. God bless and protect them is my prayer.

  34. People have forgotten that GOD does as HE PLEASES . And the focus has become on humanity and not on the creator of humanity . Thus many are no longer taught the whole reason for the cross . They are taught we are saved but not from what . not the whole of it . They are taught we are loved , but not the purpose of that Love . God desired , HE DID , a whole new convenant . And not one in which HE would be dishonored , but rather His law upon our hearts and in our minds . We are not taught the true NEW convenant . JESUS took our sins in his body on the tree , That we being made DEAD TO SIN , SHOULD LIVE UNTO RIGHTEOUSNESS. YES the new covenant that fulfills , not omits , not makes void , BUT FULLFILLS the RIGHTEOUSNESS of the law . God is not the author of transgression . JESUS is not the minister of sin . There is one who seduces lawlessness unto the people , AND IT AINT GOD NOR THE SON MAN . IT IS ANOTHER . And we better HEED IT NOT . MY FATHER SEEKS those who worship HIM IN SPIRIT and IN TRUTH . WELL LAWLESSNESS is NIETHER OF HIS SPIRIT NOR TRUTH . Better we fear the LORD , and the fear of the LORD is , to depart from evil . AND THE LORD shall preserve me from every EVIL WORK . A workmanship created unto GOOD WORKS . A peoples wherein the LOVE that comes FROM GOD is on the hearts . AND THAT LOVE OBEYS HIM. Who we obey we love and who we love we obey . LOVE and obedience cannot be separated . HE WHO LOVES ME KEEPS , DOES MY SAYINGS . And why do you CALL me LORD , LORD and yet do not the things which I command . Therefore who so ever hears and DOES these sayings , BUILT His house on the FOUNDATION . But HE who hears , yet does not , NO FOUNDATION , no JESUS , no HOPE . As james said , Be not hearers only , DECIEVING your own selves . Rather odd that today all this is called LEGALSIM . I CALL IT LOVE . YEP , many are in grave danger .

  39. “In Mark 7:11-12 Christ condemns the Pharisees for rejecting the commandment of God by their tradition. What specifically were the Pharisees teaching in these two verses? What is Corban?” In order to understand the situation under consideration, the entire context must be viewed. It reads as follows. Here are the areas upon which one needs to focus in order to understand the context cited above. The leaders of the Jewish community were criticizing the Lord’s disciples (and indirectly Christ himself) for eating with unwashed hands. We need not think of “unwashed hands” in the hygienic sense; rather, it was the custom of the Jews to ceremonially cleanse themselves from any “defilement” they perceived they had picked up from contact with Gentiles (whom they considered religiously and socially “unclean”). This attitude and activity was not a part of Moses’ law, but a strictly human tradition that had evolved in the Hebrew culture over the years. When, therefore, the Pharisees and scribes noted that the Savior’s disciples were not conforming to this rabbinic “tradition,” they felt they had an indictment against Christ and his men. Knowing well, therefore, the attitude that prompted the charge, Jesus did not take the time to explain the matter to his critics. Rather, he “turned the table” on them, and focused attention on a serious violation of Moses’ law by another of their human traditions. The law of Moses required the Hebrew people to “honor” their parents. That term “honor” did not suggest mere “lip service”; it included the idea of caring for them in their various needs. Some of the Jews, however, had concocted a scheme to avoid parental responsibility. They would designate certain of their financial resources as “corban.” The Greek word korban is related to the term korbanas, signifying the “temple treasury.” In Jewish practice, therefore, the word “corban” had been coined as a sort of “vow” term. According to the prevailing tradition, one could designate his financial resources as “corban,” which, practically speaking, was a way of “tagging” them, suggesting, “this belongs to God,” and thus was not to be used for personal interests. There is a passage in the writings of the Jewish historian, Josephus, that illustrates the fact that funds from the temple treasury were “corban,” hence could not be used for secular purposes, e.g., city improvements, as in the building of an aqueduct for water supply (Wars 2.9.4). Thus, in the manner just described, the covetous, ungrateful Jews callously neglected parental responsibility by an appeal to this perverted human tradition. In so doing, they flouted the law of God. And yet, on this occasion, they had the unconscionable nerve to accuse the Lord and his disciples of a breach of spirituality because they ignored uninspired rabbinical tradition. This was the epitome of inconsistency. Christ thus quoted from the prophet Isaiah, charging the Pharisees with hypocrisy. While they professed a reverence for the law, by their manipulating evasions they demonstrated that they neither respected nor understood their obligations to the law of God.

  40. Figure, i can say emphatically.....YES. Please do learn to wait on Him and listen. It was decades after I was born again I learned that was important and I can't even begin to tell you what not understanding that cost me in growth. When He finally got my attention on that verse and understanding it was a command I should be obeying, I began to make the attempt. The first thing I learned was just how unruly my own mind is. I'd determine to "wait" quietly and expectantly, and actually manage to do it for 15 seconds Over and over i'd "come to" and realize my mind was off over somewhere else thinking about where I wanted to go eat lunch, or what I had to do at work the next day, or when i was gonna cleann the mold ouf of the bottom drawer of the refrigerator. And the second thing I learned was just how NEGATIVE that internal 'self-talk' was....and constant. Busy, busy busy...much ado about nothing important. It was discouraging but I did keep at it. I'd go rope my mind and drag it back to trying to wait quietly and expectantly....and 30 seconds later have to do it all over again. But even though it took a while, and quite a few attempts to just be obedient, things did begin to change. My mind became a bit more submitted to discipline and i could stay focused longer and longer. And eventually He did show up. Then I learned that there truly is a "knowing" of Him found in stillness that cannot be had any other way. It became a joy, and He began to show up more often and more quickly. And the times became precious to me....i didn't have to force myself to choose to do it out of sheer obedience. I started looking forward to it. and there is strength available to us in it. Lots of good stuff in fact. Being more aware of all that "self-talk" going on inside also gave me opportunities to engage His process for transforming my mind. Taking thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ. It's a great way to give Him a place to accellerate our growth in Him. Rock on sister, it may cost you some effort at the beginning, but the price far less than the benefits. He wants a RELATIONSHIP with those He loves, and that's you. And a relationship is a two way conversation. He really wants to speak to us too.
