  1. I would guess the person had mental or drug problems or he would not have stopped..... those I dealt with back in the 90's while working nights, when they just wanted money, had a drug problem. I never carried more than ten dollars with me at any time.... when they try and bully you and I stood up to them they almost always just left me alone. The ones that got to me were the ones that just came out and told me they needed a drink.. after talking it over with them for a while I occasionally would give them the ten I had just to keep them out of jail.... I did buy quite a number of Big Mac's during those few years because a good number of them were hungry..... and made some homeless friends...

  2. I was walking after dark a week or so ago, carry home some street vendor type food. I passed a man squatting beside a wall, awake but ignoring me. I walked past. I felt urged to give the man some food. I turned around, walked back and offered him some food, holding it out towards him. He suddenly jumped up and started angrily insisting that I give him money, agressively swinging his arms wide and gesturing at me. He moved to block my exit. I said "no money, only food". At which he started yelling for money and started reaching behind his back, like he was going to retrieve a weapon. I spoke in a forceful voice, telling him to sit down. He looked confused then put his arms down and moved out of my way. I walked past him and home. When I went around a turn down the road, I looked back - he was still standing there. While in the waking periods of the night, I was deeply concerned for the man. What kind of hell is he living in? Why can't I help him? I hope and pray he awakens. I don't share this story to say "look what I did". I didn't do anything like a christian except worry about the man during the night. Someday I hope to be effective.

  3. Thanks Trace, that site looks hopeful in my situation. It says they send volunteers which fits my budget. It's good too because I only need the person on the days of the surgery. I will call them first if necessary but it may not be needed. Around noon today my case manager called. She finally switched me to a different aide agency. I started with this agency and the 2 aides I saw from them were both American girls who spoke English as well as writing it. I've always told the agencies that I need the aides to write out my checks so all I have to do is sign them. I also always told them I'm an afternoon client. This aide should be here next Monday at 12 pm. If all goes well she'll come to the surgery with me. I'm thanking God that Donna is alive and well. I wish she wouldn't do these things, but she's fine. Thank you to all who responded. I have to go to some stores.

  4. You're absolutely correct and I pray you're preaching to the choir on here [Worthy] so to speak. Surely Christians on here are not dabbling in the occult. Demon's and fallen angels are just two classes of spiritual beings. We know angels can materialize as men [demons can not]; angels can eat and other things, and demons can not. Demons are body-less spirits seeking someone or something to occupy; to destroy and seek their desires of the flesh [the Bible is very clear on that]. Demons can not enter where the Holy Spirit abides, but can still influence. I may be wrong but, I'm of the understanding a demon can not possess a person unless invited in and there is a void to be filled; through even seemingly harmless things unless on guard of their potential for demonic invitation. Ouija boards, occult mediums, Tara cards, occult rock [i.e. KISS], horoscopes, demonic movies and much more are pathways to invite the occult into ones life. Yep, any participation with the occult or occult practices or rituals [dressing up as goblins, monsters, etc.] is not a wise thing to do. Trick or Treat? What do we suppose a 'trick' has in mind? TRICK, n. L. tricor, to play tricks, to trifle, to baffle. We see the same root in the Low L. intrico, to fold, and in intrigue. Trick is from drawing, that is, a drawing aside, or a folding, interweaving, implication. 1. An artifice or stratagem for the purpose of deception; a fraudful contrivance for an evil purpose, or an underhand scheme to impose upon the world; a cheat or cheating. We hear of tricks in bargains, and tricks of state. ~ Websters 1828 dictionary Timely post Melinda12, thank you.

  5. I had cataract surgery in my 40's and ended up with 20/10 right eye, 20/20 left eye. Had laser surgery when the epithelial cells clouded the IOL. Needed 3 treatments with laser to get a perfect result. Would this help you, JTC? http://www.visitingneighbors.org/shop---escort-services.html If not, contact the NYC Sea Gypsies dive club. 6. JTC. Is there not a church nearby? Show what you just posted to the pastor, elder or deacon in the church---and like the widow who would not give up going to the judge to help her with her adversary, persist, and don't stop praying. Praying, brother, for you now.

  7. John, since this is urgent that you have the surgery, why don't you ask at one of the nearby churches to see if they have someone to accompany you? I know they are Catholic churches but perhaps the priest is a kind hearted person and would try to help you? Here there are Catholics that are nice and willing to help others. However, perhaps it is not like that where you live....but it doesn't hurt to ask.

  11. What is lacking in the newly-reborn in Christ? In our possessions—nothing; but in our walk—much! In the outset of our faith we are given “all things that pertain to life and godliness” (2Pe 1:3; Rom 8:32; 1Co 3:21), but during this babe-in-Christ stage (which all progress from) there is great lack in the believer’s walk in these blessings, for no new-born saint is readily matured with the ability to “walk, even as He walked” (1Jo 2:6). No, we must be at the feet of the Lord’s Word (Luk 10:42), continually learning and receiving from Him the manner of His life and walk which was upon the earth. Our relationship with the Father depends on this maturity (conformity by the Spirit) because the more you mature in Christ’s image, the closer “He will draw nigh to you” because in the maturing, you “draw neigh to God” (Jam Jas 4:8). In redemption there is a twofold involvement: union and fellowship. Union admits not in degrees, unlike fellowship, which ever grows. Though we can have no greater desire than close fellowship with God, we know that only progressing in application and practicality of His Word (by the Spirit of course, as are all things) will conform us in His fellowship. Doctrine within the Pauline Epistles is mostly where the Spirit of God teaches concerning our new birth, who also is the Creator of it in the Lord Jesus’ Life (Jhn 3:5, 6, 8; Col 3:4). Considering these possessions which abide within those reborn, what could there ever be within—or without, that is “able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord?” Not self, because the Cross of Christ restrains the “old man” from “ruling” and “dominating” the believer (Rom 6:6, 12, 14); the Spirit opposes it (Gal 5:17); and the Father guards us against it by instilling within the believer’s mind and heart, “to will and to do of His good pleasure (Phl 2:13). In the light of Scripture, the only possible answer for not abiding in Christ is attributed to the nonoccurrence of rebirth, and the most outward confirmation to others concerning “Christ in you” (to self, the Spirit is confirmation - Rom 8:16) is the permanent continuance of the “walk in the Spirit”; which “walk” is hypocritical otherwise, because only those reborn will “endure unto the end.” NC

  13. Shalom @JTC Man, talk about swimming against the tide! I'm not surprised brother. What an incredibly arduous thing to deal with. I wish I were the rich type to provide for your needs, but I'm living on a bare minimum as well. May Yahweh bless you supernaturally with the funds or healing, according to His Will and through His servants. With regards to Donna, don't lose hope friend. There is a good chance that she will come back to you yet. If she has the tendencies to react badly towards her friends at times - this could just be a longer version of it, due to a stimulus of some kind. Have faith that it's not over yet, as 51 years is a lot! It maybe even after a year that she gets in touch, but it's hard for anyone (even those struggling with illnesses) to utterly cut off a friend for no reason. The longing will surely come within her eventually. I don't want to be one of Job's friends here - who each gave good advice but was ultimately incorrect - but maybe in my folly their will be something that resonates... I can't imagine the hard time you are going through and the testing it is putting on your faith. When we're constantly being hit at our weak points and not seeing prayers get answered, these are the darkest times for us. When such things happen, sometimes it can be helpful to think of your situation conceptually - by assessing "what is the net result of all of these things? Can these challenges be seen allegorically?" In doing so, hopefully you'll be able to understand the problem from a clearer perspective. Then you may learn whether Yahweh is trying to lead you to lean on Him more or whether He may be exacting discipline for something you're not consciously aware of. But know that we're not meant to be running around with perfect bodies in this life, surrounded by friends and loved ones and living comfortably. These things aren't promised for this world, but the next. So, if your conscience is clear before Yahweh, hold your head high knowing that all that you suffer here (without losing faith) will make your next life that much better. I know it doesn't help you much now, but know you are in good company - as Paul suffered with his sight and also lost many friends. Imprisoned, beaten, whipped and mocked, yet he regarded the flesh as a temporary shelter, and joyfully wrote.. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Messiah Yahushua (Jesus) our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39 It may that when you stop worrying over your eyes and Donna, that such things will be restored back to you. So try to live as if you have lost your sight and close friend, but glorifying Yahweh for the privilege of having these gifts as long as you had (who has had a friend for 51 years!!), but also having faith in His goodness that He is faithful to work miracles in THIS life, when the time is right. Practically, it might be worth praying whether there is a cause behind all of these events (as unrelated as the may seem to be) and wait to see if anything comes to mind immediately. If not, at least your conscience is clear. I'd also recommend meditating on Psalm 13 deeply, for at least a day to a week - study and immerse. Even if it doesn't all apply, it might bring you peace. Take courage my friend. He sees all and you still have friends on here (albeit digitally). From the posts I have read of yours in the past, I'm quite sure that you still have an important role to play on here and locally. NB: Apologies if I have overstepped the mark, incorrectly assessed your situation or insulted you in anyway. It definitely wasn't my intention! Love & Shalom

  18. Yes. The deafness and hardening that some sinners are given over to by God is because of their stubborness, but God is not the cause of their sinfulness or their stubborness. God doesn't condemn anyone to hell prior to Judgment Day, but always knows who will be condemned and who will be saved.

  21. The word of God answers many of our questions, but many questions are not directly answered or are vague. I'm sure in Heaven all our questions will be answered to our complete satisfaction. How that will occur I can't even speculate. When we are resurrected / Raptured; will that knowledge be automatically given to us? Eternity is a long time, I suspect we will be constantly learning new things during eternity? Will we be given the opportunity to directly ask Jesus a question we always wondered about? Suppose we were standing in a long line in Heaven, and given the opportunity to ask Jesus just one question He would answer. Then we had to go to the back of the line again for our next question. What would be the very first question you would want to ask the Lord?

  22. Like most protestants, John Calvin was double-minded with regard to Jews. On the one hand, he wrote sympathetically of the ancient - Biblical - Hebrews. On the other hand, Calvin held contemporary Jews in an attitude of disdain. Calvin once wrote, "I have had much conversation with many Jews: I have never seen either a drop of piety or a grain of truth or ingenuousness – nay, I have never found common sense in any Jew." - Wikipedia Some might argue they never found any common sense in anything Calvin wrote either. A case of the pot calling the kettle black, as it were. Calvin's opinion reflects the current attitude of protestants in that God is incapable of saving a Jew unless he or she joins a church. Apparently none of them were or are aware that the first believers were all Jews and that all accounts of New Testament worship were held in synagogues. The synagogue is worse than a brothel…it is the den of scoundrels and the repair of wild beasts…the temple of demons devoted to idolatrous cults…the refuge of brigands and dabauchees, and the cavern of devils. It is a criminal assembly of Jews…a place of meeting for the assassins of Christ… a house worse than a drinking shop…a den of thieves, a house of ill fame, a dwelling of iniquity, the refuge of devils, a gulf and a abyss of perdition."…"I would say the same things about their souls… As for me, I hate the synagogue…I hate the Jews for the same reason." - John Calvin From "The Roots of Christian Anti-Semitism" by Malcolm Hay I can provide several other references, but doubt the reader will accept any of them - being indoctrinated so thoroughly in particular church ideology that they refuse documentation to the contrary. John Calvin, as well as many church 'fathers', were deeply anti-semitic as is protestantism to this day. Biblical teaching means nothing to most, not all, such persons. It should be understood that the writings and attitudes of persons such as John Calvin and Martin Luther provided the basis for 20th century German National Socialist (Nazi) propaganda as well as the justification for the national policy of eugenics (genocide) against the European population of Jews. Calvin and Luther were indirectly responsible for the holocaust. Good protestants in Europe and America looked the other way while crimes against humanity were conducted. As they do to this day.(*) If John Calvin was wrong about Jews, it also follows that his doctrine of predestination is also wrong - since it is not based upon God's LAW but upon the precepts of man (St. Augustine to be specific). that's me, hollering from the choir loft.. (*) The BDS movement, organized by Palestinians, is sanctioned and officially supported by the DNC as well as every protestant denomination except Baptists. This position does not take into account God's Royal mandate to give the land to Israel, as documented by the Torah and Qur'an, from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates River - encompassing modern Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Kuwait. Instead the State of Israel is begrudgingly allowed a sliver of land less than ten miles wide (9.3) at its narrowest point.

  23. Let us crown Him with many crowns Revelation 19:11 I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat on him was called Faithful and True…..on his head were many crowns; Where did Jesus get all his crown? Revelation 4:10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that lives for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne…. He had received them from the saints who had prevailed and been victorious. The Victors ‘crown This is the victor’s crown that they are casting at his feet. The victors crown is given only to those who will overcome. They have fought a good fight, they have finished their course. Therefore there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness (2 Timothy 4:8) One thing with the victors crown. The devil wants to steal it from you. Revelation 3:11 hold that fast which you have, that no man take your crown. The devil will do everything to get you into compromise, leave your first love or be without garments. He wants to steal your crown. We have been made king and priest to our God. But can you imagine king without a crown? Why the devil wants to steal your crown? Jesus is crowned with many crowns. He had received those crowns from those who have fought the good fight of faith and finished their course and have kept the faith. They have won the victors crown and have cast their crown upon him. The devil does not want Jesus to be crown with many crowns. He does not want Jesus to come back crowned with many crowns. So he will fight you to the end to steal your crown from you. Well known hymns Crown him with many crowns, the lamb upon his throne. Awake my soul and sing, of him who died for thee and hail him as thy matchless king through all eternity. Beloved ones, the purpose of this post is to exhort you. May be you have been weary in well doing, you have cast away your bold confidence which has great recompense of reward. But you can always pick it up again and get back into the race and contend for the faith once delivered to the saints. Be thou faithful even to the death and I will give you a crown of life. Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus going on before. Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe; Forward into battle see His banners go! Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus going on before. At the sign of triumph Satan’s host doth flee; On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory! Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise; Brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise. Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus going on before. Like a mighty army moves the Church of God; Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod. We are not divided, all one body we, One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

  27. Hi Gentile-Warrior, Did you miss my post to you? Here it is again. Hi Gentle -Warrior, You have brought up a good point. Now what Jesus was saying to Pilate was that His (Jesus`) kingdom/rule was not from this world. His rulership comes from the Father. No one on earth could give Jesus His rulership. However....we also know that in the tribulation it is proclaimed that the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of the Lord, (Rev. 11: 15) Thus we do see that the Lord Jesus will have rulership over the kingdoms of this world BUT His seat of power, where His overall rulership is, is in heaven. The Father proclaimed this - `God...seated Him (Christ) at His right hand in the heavenly places far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age, BUT IN THE ONE TO COME. `(Eph. 1: 20 & 21) The Lord Jesus Christ will rule over all from the highest place, NOT from His footstool. (Isa. 66: 1) `Heaven is my THRONE and earth is my FOOTSTOOL.` (Isa. 66: 1) Marilyn.

  33. For sake of this discussion my question would be the same as it is now, "How can I best serve you?" I like to think we will be released from any earthly concerns we may have at this time. But here are a few verses for consideration along these lines: (There are many more) Rom 12:1-2 (1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (2) And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 1Jn 3:1-2 (1) Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knows us not, because it knew him not. (2) Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 2Co 3:17-18 (17) Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (18) But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

  44. Let's look at scripture to determine what is meant. Romans 8:28-30 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. In verse 29 we read that God "foreknew" - which shows me that He knew before we were born who would accept His salvation, not by reassignment, but by choice - which is Love in the finest Verse 29 also states that those whom He knew would accept His salvation, "He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son". In verse 30 we read the steps He works out in our life: whom He predestined He also called whom He called, these He also justified whom He justified, these He also glorified All this point to the reasoning behind the promise found in verse 29 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Too many people have a false belief that we have absolutely no choice in the matter. I suggest we do, otherwise, why would God send His Son to pay the price for our sin and then add in conditions found in John 3:16-17? For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Even then it can be difficult to let go, especially if you've had this view for a long time. Overall not trusting people isn't a bad thing, though. In ways it's a survival skill. The question you need to ask is, does your lack of trust hinder you spiritually and/or diminish your enjoyment of life?

I totally reject the version of predestination that says that God creates one person to be mind controlled by Him to accept His will as a saved zombie like being and God creating another person to serve no other purpose but to burn in the eternal lake of fire..
