  2. Just a couple of points. Deism, which started out in the 17th century as a belief that while God exists he is not active in the world or peoples lives has morphed over the years to a belief that we are each our own God. Eerily similar. You say that you judged the man in your narrative to be unsavable. I prefer to share the Gospel with everyone at every opportunity and let God decide who will and won't be saved.

  4. Romans 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, 1:2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 1:4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: The gospel of God is the progressive revelation of God reconciling mankind to himself through the Lord Jesus Christ. The prophets promised this salvation throughout scripture beginning at the promised seed in Genesis 3:15. Jesus revealed unto Paul mysteries that were not made known by the prophets in the holy scriptures and were hid in God (Ephesians 3:9). Made known through Paul was the full salvation by the cross to freely justify all men (Romans 5:18). Paul preached Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery and also by the scriptures of the prophets (Romans 16:25-26). Paul by the gospel of God declared Jesus as the Son of God by his resurrection and so make him known.

  5. The study of the Apostle to the Gentiles is fascinating to say the least, his conversion on the road to Damascus and his whole life. No other apostle to my knowledge suffered as much as Paul did, yet he was content and didn't let his circumstances dictate his service or inner joy and peace in the Lord Jesus Christ. Other things I find interesting; unlike the other 12 Apostles, Paul did not witness the Gospel, miracles, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. There's several years not accounted for in Paul's life after his conversion on the Road to Damascus. Paul was a Pharisee of Pharisee's and a top scholar of the law, trained by Gamaliel himself, but knew nothing of the Gospel. I suspect and the Bible hints that Paul was personally taught by the Lord Jesus Himself, and given the blessings and privilege to reveal some hidden mysteries; such as the Rapture / Resurrection.

  9. @JustPassingThru This one goes out especially to you because you mentioned Terry Clark in my Lyrics thread. After I read your post there, I went to YouTube to play some of his videos. I found one from back in his days with Maranatha. It is one of my favorite Bible promises. (In fact, it reminds me of yours from Jude 1:24. ) I thought you and others might enjoy this scripture song. "Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." (Phil 1:6)

  10. Nadjeschda, I don't see the need to classify atheists. Instead of thinking which Atheists should be ignored, the goal should be to treat everyone who is not a believer with gentleness and respect. We all know that you cannot argue someone to faith, however we can plant a seed and see where that goes. Jesus says there are those who plant and those who harvest. Any little bit that you do for God's kingdom is recognized by our Lord Jesus. The bible gives examples on when to shake the dust off our feet and move on and how to handle those who ridicule the gospel and have no need to hear the message. However, if you happen to speak to someone who is completely uninterested and even rude, we don't know that that person will remain in that same attitude at a later time. God through trials or life can bring about a complete change of attitude for that same person and wake them up to wanting to know about the gospel message and accept God's grace.

  11. See My above comment. Satan is walking to and fro upon the earth he is not the angel of the bottomless pit, this is another character, likely Azazel, the leader of the Fallen angels. John clearly nullifies Satan as being the beast of rev. 17 in that he says he was,IS NOT NOW, and is to come. We have been dealing with Satan throughout the human history, But we have not had to deal with the other fallen angels since the time of Noah. The Nephillim are the offspring of the fallen angels, and their spirits (demons) we do have to deal with.

  12. This has been done before. It's quite old as well. Anyway, here it is. Blind Men and the Elephant – A Poem by John Godfrey Saxe Here is John Godfrey Saxe’s (1816-1887) version of Blind Men and the Elephant: It was six men of Indostan, To learning much inclined, Who went to see the Elephant (Though all of them were blind), That each by observation Might satisfy his mind. The First approach'd the Elephant, And happening to fall Against his broad and sturdy side, At once began to bawl: "God bless me! but the Elephant Is very like a wall!" The Second, feeling of the tusk, Cried, -"Ho! what have we here So very round and smooth and sharp? To me 'tis mighty clear, This wonder of an Elephant Is very like a spear!" The Third approach'd the animal, And happening to take The squirming trunk within his hands, Thus boldly up and spake: "I see," -quoth he- "the Elephant Is very like a snake!" The Fourth reached out an eager hand, And felt about the knee: "What most this wondrous beast is like Is mighty plain," -quoth he,- "'Tis clear enough the Elephant Is very like a tree!" The Fifth, who chanced to touch the ear, Said- "E'en the blindest man Can tell what this resembles most; Deny the fact who can, This marvel of an Elephant Is very like a fan!" The Sixth no sooner had begun About the beast to grope, Then, seizing on the swinging tail That fell within his scope, "I see," -quoth he,- "the Elephant Is very like a rope!" And so these men of Indostan Disputed loud and long, Each in his own opinion Exceeding stiff and strong, Though each was partly in the right, And all were in the wrong! MORAL, So, oft in theologic wars The disputants, I ween, Rail on in utter ignorance Of what each other mean; And prate about an Elephant Not one of them has seen! Blind Men and the Elephant – Philosophical Parable The Blind Men and the Elephant is an ancient parable used today as a warning for people that promote absolute truth or exclusive religious claims. The simple reason is that our sensory perceptions and life experiences can lead to limited access and overreaching misinterpretations. How can a person with a limited touch of truth turn that into the one and only version of all reality? Blind Men and the Elephant – Theological Truth When it comes to the moral of the Blind Men and the Elephant, it seems that today’s philosophers end their agenda too quickly. Doesn’t the picture of the blind men and the elephant also point to something bigger -- The elephant? Indeed, each blind man has a limited perspective on the objective truth, but that doesn’t mean objective truth isn’t there. In fact, truth isn’t relative at all… It’s there to discover in all its totality. In theology, just because we have limited access to Truth, that doesn’t mean any and all versions of Truth are equally valid. Actually, if we know the Whole Elephant is out there, shouldn’t this drive us to open our eyes wider and seek every opportunity to experience more of Him? Learn More!

  13. Hi, Sanctify -Kaddish is one of my personal favorite praises.- By Baht Rivka Whitten. I have posted it on Christian Music category here in the past. Psalm 46 (Lord Of Hosts) is another, it has become the anthem of one of the local bodies of Christ that I affiliate with weekly (Usually on Thursday evenings) when in town. "Our" own body, led by a wondrous voiced woman of the body of Christ, is a more power filled version than Shane and Shane's And the two personal stories; one as imagined or envisioned of another which is written about Mary Magdelene "In The Garden", plus the other a personal testimony "It Is Well With My Soul", having been written by Haratio Spafford quickly at the presumed sight of his children's death at sea..

  16. It shouldn't in a perfect world but in the world in which we live it does and perhaps that why Christ said "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required," Luke 12:48 KJV. What the country needs is less politicians and more statesmen. I forget who said it but it's true. The 19th Century theologian James Freeman Clarke said “The difference between a politician and a statesman is that a politician thinks about the next election while the statesman think about the next generation.” With that in mind I think more statesmen are definitely what we need.

  17. Several times, God Himself said of certain events that they did not come into His mind (Jer. 19:5; 32:35; 44:21). God said that He did not know beforehand that men would become so wicked (Gen. 6:5-7); that man would plan Babel (Gen. 11:5-7); that Sodom would be so wicked (Gen. 18:21, 26, 28-32); that Abraham would actually proceed to offer up Isaac (Gen. 22:12). God did not know whether it would take one or two or three signes to make Israel believe in Him (Ex. 4:1-12), or whether testing Israel would cause them to obey Him or not (Dt. 8:2, 16). God did not know that Israel would backslide as far as she did (Dt. 32:19-29; Isa. 59:15-19). God says He searches to find men whom He can bless (2 Chr. 16:9). He DISCOVERS DEEP THINGS (Job 12:22); tries the hearts and reigns of men so that HE MAY KNOW THEM (Ps. 7:9; 44:21; 139:1-6, 23-24; Jer. 17:10; 1 Chron. 28:9; Rom. 8:27; 1 Cor. 2;10; Rev. 2:23). It is His plan for mankind that is known from beginning to the end, not the individual conformity to it by free moral agents. It is left up to each person to choose his own destiny. God wills all men to be saved but if man does not choose to be saved that is his responsibility (1 Tim. 2:4; 2 Pet. 3:9; John 3:16; Rev. 22;17).

I mentioned a song that was written for a Bill Gaither children's recording but applies to any age. Below are the lyrics: CHORUS Input, output, what goes in is what comes out.. Input, output, That is what it’s all about. Input, output, Your mind is a computer whose Input, output daily you must choose. Let the Bible be your primary feed It’s got all the data you need. Debug your mind of sinful bytes, Then you will operate all right! Who is in control?

  23. Baptism of the Holy Spirit is salvation. Matthew 3:11 Gift of the Spirit is the equipping of believers to do their personal ministry according to that same calling. 1 Corinthians 12 (AV) 1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. 2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. 3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. 4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For the body is not one member, but many. 15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? 18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. 19 And if they were all one member, where were the body? 20 But now are they many members, yet but one body. 21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: 23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. 24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: 25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. 26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. 27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

  24. Some of you know that I loooove Christian music. Messianic is a favorite of mine and is mentioned in my profile interests. But I also started a thread called " Let us Lift Up The Name Of The Lord-Through Hymns." Then there is Jesus music (from the 1970's to 1980's.) It was the kind I grew up on in my early years of being saved. Keith Green, Petra, Phil Keaggy, etc. I appreciate some of the newer music, too. Recently, I was thinking about how lyrics have the ability to really get you to thinking. They are like mini sermons, in a way. They can deal with important messages ranging from abortion to suicide and everything inbetween. Sometimes a short, but hard hitting message set to music can make more of an impact that a sermon that is soon forgotten. (no offense to sermons, of course. )Plus, you play songs over and over so you often memorize the words in the process. The thing about songs is they are catchy and so they stick in your head. I know some don't care for the contemporary sounds. I understand your convictions and we all have unique tastes in styles. The purpose for this thread is not to debate that. But rather to share Christian song LYRICS that have left an impact on our lives. So I will post a few that speak to me and hope maybe they will do the same to you. I would likewise appreciate hearing some of yours. I hope and pray this thread will be thought-provoking, in a good sort of way. Thanks for putting up with my lol long-winded intro.

  26. Lets ask the poor what they think. Are they trying to get out of the U.S.A, OR, are they trying to get in? Why is that, you reckon? I work hard in my business for an income, to support my family, and our country. I prefer to help those in need, locally, as I decide, and not through bureaucrats with an agenda. Every country has those in need, widows, sick, physically and mentally disabled, lost jobs, etc, which is typically about 10% of the people. They ride the wagon. So the rest, 90% able bodied, pull the wagon. Fair. That was a half century ago. Today, 49% of the 'citizens' do not pay taxes. Documented. Some of the 'able bodied' pullers didn't wanted to pull, discovered about free tickets, from the government do gooders, (to get their votes) so they can ride. Now, only about 50% pull, and 50% ride. Getting harder. Why it's called a tax 'burden' Today each tax payers pays/pulls for two families, to help out the half of the population that is in perpetual 'need'. I have been to other countries while in the military, lived awhile there, and was relieved/happy to come home. My situation economically, should have no bearing on my ability to share the gospel or to be charitable. Most Americans alive today, have no idea just how blessed (by God!) they are to live in these 'United' States, of America! Fix/reduce the politicians, not the country.

  33. I was walking on Sunday. I passed a small building. The doors were open. The people were singing without instruments. They were off pitch. Unfortunately, I hear pitch very well. Actually it is not unfortunate. I really do not care (usually; unless it is really bad). Much modern music uses studio electronics that fixes pitch in singers. I have an app on my smart phone that measures pitch. I got it to improve my ability to hear cadence. I discovered that I sing off pitch too. Not much, just a few cents. But how much is too much? I think it is safe to say that God hears pitch better than anyone. I love hearing people sing with joy, even when they are off pitch. I join with them. When we bring a sacrifice of praise, I don't think God covers his ears because our pitch is not perfect. I don't think he rejects the sacrifice because it is not perfect. I think he says "Sing Louder. Sing it again. Especially the part about loving me." -------------------- Since my previous posts like this were misunderstood. Let me say it clearly, I think God loves people singing to him, even if they don't do it perfectly. He loves people and they rarely sing perfectly. I hope he even likes my singing, when I can bring myself to do it.

  34. It's called AutoTune and it's a bane to singers everywhere who can really sing. I feel like God might appreciate the off key singing more than the electronically perfect pitch. I'm an also singer. In case you're not familiar, if you ever notice the tiered choir lofts at church you'll see that many have 5 rows. They put the ladies who sing up high in the front and say, "You sing soprano" then they put the ladies who sing a little deeper in the second row and say "You sing Alto" The guys who sing up high are in the third row and are told, "You sing tenor" Then the guys who sing lower go in the fourth row and are told, "You sing Baritone or Bass" Then the folks like me go in that fifth row and they tell us "you sing also".

  38. Christ coming into my life. If such wasn't the case, I'm pretty sure I'd either be in prison or dead. Maybe/probably both. Speaking of death, I'm grateful to be alive; I've made enough mistakes to where I'm glad to have a chance to even just try to make up for them, somehow or another. Happy my life isn't worse, happy to be given a chance to grow and learn... Thankful in general, really. As for your mom, I guess I don't know the situation. What I will say though is that there is never a perfect parent (except God, of course), much less a perfect person. Must a grudge last forever? Life is too short for such a thing. I can't really give much detail-oriented advise though, beyond that. Another piece of advice I might offer is that of honest self-evaluation. I once had a coworker call me lazy, who I perceived as rather lazy himself. I have to be honest, I was livid. I wanted to tackle him to the ground and spit the most phlegmy loogie in his face as I could. Pelt him with punches and call him trash. I was shaking and pacing, trying to hold myself back. Even when I got home, it still made my teeth itch. As I laid in my bed though, I wondered, why should he call me lazy? I would take a step back from certain things, and admittedly, I'm not a very quick worker. I also wondered why I should care what he thinks. He was hardly an exemplary person from which I could be offended. If I was a boxer and Mike Tyson said I was a limp-armed princess, my reaction would at least make sense. This was like an old woman saying such a thing, instead. So, regardless of what he thought, I decided to just try and work harder. Try not to step back, put a bit more pep in my step. He never changed his mind and continued to try and antagonize me. However, the work became easier and even somewhat fun. His opinion meant little.

  40. Both Socialism and Capitalism demonstrate the love of money. In Socialism it's the ruling elite who skim money and in Capitalism the desire for more money (or the things it can afford) is what drives economic prosperity. The biggest difference is that while Capitalism encourages the accumulation of personal wealth and uses greed to drive folks, pure Socialism puts the state first and if properly managed would distribute wealth more evenly. (It actually doesn't distribute it exactly evenly but does attempt to assure that everyone has enough for their circumstances) That said, the problem with either system is greed and while one uses greed as an impetus for growth the other discourages it and the accumulation of personal wealth is "under the table" as they say. So I say, they are both corrupt because the heart of men is corrupt so let's concentrate on eliminating the corruption in whatever system we find ourselves under. Don't worry about which system is better but how to make the one under which you find yourself better and on sharing the fact that God's love knows no economic system or boundaries.

  43. I checked the numbers and while there is no definitive way to assess the ability of percentages of populations who are able but not willing to work, it seems that experts agree that there's probably little if any difference in those numbers between Socialist country and a Capitalistic one. It's not so much to do with the economic system as it is to do with human nature and the desire of some to live from the labor of others. I never said I wanted my tax dollars to go to anyone who is able but too lazy to work but neither did any socialist that I can find. My point is simply that we shouldn't spend our time debating the pros and cons of economic systems and instead concentrate on what should I as a Christian do with whatever money I have left after the government takes whatever for whatever. As I have said, either system would work equally well if only everyone involved administered it with Christian values and that's never going to happen. The main difference is in Socialism the incentive should be for the greater good of society where in Capitalism the incentive is personal wealth. The Capitalist system just realizes that greed is a bigger motivation than the greater good.

IN fact the scrips you love to qoate from john or paul , about Love . THEY were telling an already BELIEVING IN JESUS CHRUCH and simply REMINDING IT . THEY ALL SAID JESUS MUST BE CONFESSED . EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM . SO BRING all the scrips you like . BUT REMEMBER It was written to those who KNEW JESUS MUST BE CONFESSED by the mouth and believe by the heart that GOD rose him from the dead . YOU bring scrips to twist the image the image of what MEN consider love . BUT NO LOVE leaves a soul just so called loving and nOT KNOWING JESUS . And you forget a vital thing . While the second commandment IS to love thy neighbor as thyself , WHAT IS the greatest . TO LOVE GOD , TO LOVE CHRIST above all . GUESS what , As JESUS told the jews , IF YE LOVED GOD YE WOULD HAVE LOVED ME TOO , . The only way to WORSHIP GOD in SPIRIT and in TRUTH , IS IN CHRIST . AND YE were sealed with that promise , that SPIRIT AFTER YE BELIEVED . IT IS and for as long as we have left , ALWAYS BEEN YE MUST BELEIVE IN JESUS AS LORD and SAVOIR . Yall been heavily seduced and have made GOD into a love which denies HIM . FOR if a man comes and gives such false hope to those in darkness and offers them NOT THE ONLY ANSWER TO SALVTION , WHICH IS CHRIST HE is but the blind leading the blind . You say , I SEE , therefore your blindness remains . You have resisted with much effort the true gospel which saves and you have not ceased from trying to correct the very few WHO ARE ONLY TRYING TO HELP YOU . all men are infallible , BUT THE WORD OF OUR LORD SHALL ENDURE FOREVER . JESUS IS the only way for salvation , AND CONFESSION unto HIM must be made . ONE MUST BELIEVE HE IS WHO HE SAID HE WAS , or they are in darkness and their sin remains . And teaching folks some way around having to confess JESUS , Would have had you a severe rebuking by paul , james and scores of others . I and others ARE TRYING TO HELP you , before it truly is too late .

  47. I often say I'm a follower of Jesus Christ. Over the years i've gotten more and more leery of almost every "ism" i am familiar with. Jesus didn't fit into anyone's box, and it seems the more I learn of Him the less I seem to fit in the precise boxes people who like labels demand. HE is the way, the truth and the life, and through Him the way to Father was opened up to me. In Him alone I have hope and not in any particular denomination.

  48. How could the Pope be changing Jesus' word if we have translations? A translation is never perfect because they are NOT translated word for word...this is impossible. I believe this is a good idea because "lead us not into temptation" makes it sound as if it's God that is bringing us into temptation and Jesus did not MEAN that at all. I have no problem with this....
