Sounds like the person to whom a Jesus said "let the dead bury the dead." Following Jesus involves sacrifice.

The lyrics are pretty good, but I'm not getting why they used the word "waste."

She is meaning that she will die out to her own will in this life to do the will of the Father.

Although I think the choice of the word "waste" was not a good choice to convey her meaning.  But the song actually I think has good lyrics to it

I will waste my life I'll be tested and tried
With no regrets inside of me to find I'm at Your feet

I'll leave my father's house and I'll leave my mother
I'll leave all I have known and I'll have no other

I am in love with You There is no cost ...

Perhaps she means this definition?

"to become gradually consumed, used up, or worn away"

was thinking maybe she feels her Life ....is her own cross to carry. In other words, her life was a waste without any guidance and now she has found what truly matters is with Jesus.

I think also perhaps the song title could have been chosen for the sale of her music.  Like a book hook is used to hook you on the book.  Got to admit it is pretty clever and peaks curiousity.

I think it means putting away fleshly desires and doing the will of God till she dies.

This is a woman who fought cancer for six years and bounced back.

She says that experience of almost dying is a gift from God, and I agree.

I've been there three times myself.

That's a pretty strong accusation, don't you think?

Can you back this judgment with evidence?

Oh come on now Nebula your post comes across as an over reaction to an innocent comment.  There is no accusation whatsoever in what I posted sheesh.  I could say in your way of thinking that what you "think" in your post here toward me is a strong accusation against me.  But in reality I know that is not true (at least I hope) it is just what you are thinking.

I believe the words that I used were "I think perhaps" the song title "could have" been chosen for the sale of her music.  Just for further clarification on my part I am in no way putting this musician down for using the song title that was chosen.  It's pretty clever in light of the woman battling cancer in the natural and tying and linking that with the spiritual battle of dying out to self so that Christ could live through her.  To me that is amazing and worthy of praise and the song has good lyrics as I said already in my first post.  Anywho in the OP we were asked what we thought and I posted my thoughts only.  I accused no one or judged no one.

I have never heard the song, but on the surface it sounds like people are accusing her of wasting her life living for God, and she is saying she will gladly waste her life, not so much meaning in reality, but in the way the world perceives it.

As for why a song title is chosen, that's hard to say.  You do want a title that is an attention grabber, so I can see what OC is saying, but without having heard this particular song, I don't know if that was the intent, or it was the best title to convey the message.  Perhaps it was a little of both?  Ideally you want commercial success, and you also want something that will show your true meaning.

Perhaps it was meant to be ironic.  As in, the secular world believes she is wasting her life, because of the "fun" and "good times" she's giving up for Him.

If seen like that, then it's a testament to her dedication and a conviction of the world.

I didn't even read your post until after I posted mine, lol.  But, yes, I agree with you.

That's what it sounds like to me Justin, just going by the title alone.  I might have a completely different view of the song if I could read the lyrics.  Perhaps someone has a copy of the words they could post?

With no regrets inside of me, just to find I'm at Your feet

I'll leave my father's house and I'll leave my mother
I'll leave all I have known and I'll have no other

Oh how I love You, and there is no cost
Oh how I love You, and there is no loss
Oh how I love You, I want to take Your name
Oh how I love You, I want to cling to You Jesus
Just let me cling to You Jesus

I'll say goodbye to my father my mother
I'll turn my back on every other lover and
I'll press on yes I'll press on

Misty is definitely one of my favorite christian artists. She is real and true. - DRS81

Thanks for posting those lyrics.  To me it is her saying she will waste her life in the eyes of the world, rather than in reality.  She is choosing to give up all she has down here for the pearl of great price.
